This represents a significant leap forward in technology (think Nvidia but specifically for the AI industry) which is addressing one of the most fundamental challenges in modern AI: how to perform computation on highly sensitive data at scale.
The RoleThe VP Finance will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial strategy during a period of highly capital-intensive R&D and early market engagement.
This role goes far beyond traditional FP&A. The VP Finance will act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team, translating complex technical progress into clear financial narratives for investors, board members, and external partners, while building the financial infrastructure required to scale a semiconductor business responsibly.
The position offers meaningful exposure at Board level and will be instrumental in preparing the company for future fundraising, major technical milestones and commercialization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the development of robust, milestone-driven financial models aligned to hardware R&D phases and technical risk retirement
- Establish forecasting and budgeting frameworks suited to capital-intensive engineering environments rather than traditional revenue-led models
- Play a central role in preparing the business for future capital raises and strategic financing events
- Partner closely with the CEO as a trusted executive advisor on capital allocation, timing of major spend events, and strategic trade-offs
- Build KPI frameworks that connect engineering progress, operational execution, and capital efficiency
- Design and manage budgets for advanced research, silicon development, external vendors, and manufacturing partners

What We’re Looking For
- Background in investment banking, corporate finance, VC/PE, or strategic finance
- Senior finance experience within a capital-intensive hardware technology business
- Experience operating in R&D-heavy, technically complex environments (e.g. semiconductors, deeptech, advanced computing, robotics, defense, biotech, climate tech, spacetech, AI)
- Exceptional financial modelling capability
- Comfortable operating as a hands-on finance leader in an early-stage VC environment
- Excellent communication skills with the credibility to engage engineers, investors, and board members
- High level of commercial judgement and intellectual curiosity
Nice to Have (Non-Essential):
- Experience in a venture-backed technology company that has raised significant institutional capital

About the Role
The Analyst, Corporate Development and M&A will play a critical role in supporting Crusoe’s inorganic growth strategy across its core sectors: Power, Industrial Process and Manufacturing, Real Estate and Software. This highly visible position will be deeply involved in all phases of mergers & acquisitions (M&A), strategic investments, and structuring strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate is a high-performing professional with robust financial expertise and transaction experience. The role will report directly to the SVP of Strategic Finance and Corporate Development.
This role will be required to be based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY.
What You’ll Be Working On
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Divestitures
- Market Mapping and Origination: candidate will work across the organization’s business units and functions in order to identify acquisition targets from a sector-first perspective. This includes creating and maintaining market maps, thematic research projects and direct outreach to targets.
- Transaction Execution: Support the end-to-end M&A process, including target identification, strategic rationale development, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and closing.
- Financial Modeling & Valuation: Build and maintain complex financial models (Valuation and merger model, Accretion/Dilution analyses, and precedent transaction analyses) to evaluate potential acquisition
- Due Diligence: Coordinate and manage cross-functional due diligence teams (Legal, Finance, Operations, etc.), synthesizing key findings and developing risk mitigation strategies. Work closely with third-party providers.
- Market Analysis: Conduct industry and competitive landscape analysis within the Industrials, Energy, and Real Estate sectors to identify strategic market gaps and attractive investment opportunities.
- Prepare and present on transaction rationale to Executive Leadership team (possibly the Board of Directors)
Strategic Investments & Partnerships
- Sourcing and Evaluation: Evaluate strategic investment and partnership opportunities that align with the company's long-term growth objectives.
- Deal Structuring: Assist in the structuring and negotiation of terms for joint ventures, strategic alliances, and minority investments.
- Business Case Development: Create compelling investment memorandums and presentations for Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors, outlining strategic fit, financial implications, and execution plans.
General Corporate Development
- Pipeline Management: Help manage and maintain a robust pipeline of potential M&A and investment targets.
- Commercial-facing Activities: attend conferences and travel to various industry events in order to aid in origination and market intelligence
- Reporting: Prepare detailed analytical reports and presentations on key market trends, portfolio performance, and deal progress for internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring to the Team
1-3+ years of experience in Investment Banking (Analyst or Associate level), Corporate Development, Private Equity, or Transaction Advisory Services.
Direct experience working on M&A transactions taking a core role in structuring and modeling various scenarios and preparing transaction screening memos
Strong coverage experience or deep sector knowledge within Industrials, Energy, and/or Real Estate is highly preferred.
Exceptional financial modeling and valuation skills, with an advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Overview
We’re hiring our first Head of Finance to own Ivo’s financial engine end-to-end. This role will build and lead our finance function, with responsibility for full oversight of Ivo’s financial landscape, including budgeting, planning, forecasting, reporting, and strategic financial oversight. This leader will determine the right long-term operating model for finance at Ivo, including, over time, standing up an in-house team (with support from our fractional CFO team).
Key Responsibilities
- Build & Lead the Finance Function
- Establish core financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks appropriate for a rapidly scaling AI company.
- Hire, manage, and develop finance talent (FP&A, accounting, revenue operations, or other roles as the company scales).
- Support the CEO and the leadership team through key operational and financial decisions.
- Evaluate Ivo’s current financial tech stack and our fractional model and determine the optimal mix of internal vs. external finance resources over the next 12–24 months.
- Budgeting, Planning & Forecasting
- Own the annual planning cycle and develop a coherent financial plan aligned with company strategy.
- Partner with department heads to build and manage budgets, track spend, and forecast outcomes with accuracy and accountability.
- Create rolling forecasts and scenario models to inform decision-making (e.g., hiring, GTM expansion, pricing, R&D allocation).
- Board, Investor & Executive Reporting
- Deliver crisp, recurring financial reporting to the CEO, exec team, and Board as needed, including dashboards, commentary, and insights.
- Lead preparation of board materials, including revenue performance, cost structure analysis, hiring plans, and financial outlooks.
- Provide proactive insights on business performance, risks, and opportunities as part of leadership and strategic decision-making by the CEO and leadership team.
- Headcount & Hiring Planning
- Partner with People Operations and team leads to develop headcount plans aligned with financial targets and hiring velocity.
- Monitor compensation budgets, bonus and commission planning and calculations, hiring costs, and organizational structure to ensure efficient scaling.
- Ensure hiring plans are closely connected with revenue, runway, and Ivo’s key metrics.
- Operational Finance & Compliance
- Oversee accounting, month-end close, audit preparation, tax compliance, and cash management (whether executed internally or through external partners).
- Implement systems and automation that improve reporting accuracy, financial controls, and data visibility.
- Manage and own the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensuring we are managing these functions appropriately as a team.
What You Bring
- 7–12+ years of experience at in-house finance teams, ideally with a mix of FP&A, strategic finance, and operating roles in SaaS companies.
- Experience building finance functions from scratch in high-growth startups.
- Strong command of key SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, payback, gross margin, cohort analysis, etc.) and how to operationalize them.
- Ability to work closely with executives and department leads across operations, marketing, GTM and product / engineering, while maintaining independence and financial discipline.
- Excellent modeling, forecasting, and presentation skills.
- Pragmatism: you know when to be scrappy and when to introduce structure.
