Position Summary

A coworker who has the qualifications of a Cable Splicer, is familiar with the underground system and has the experience and ability to analyze cable and equipment troubles quickly and to restore services promptly by replacing fuses, switching, disconnecting defective cables or apparatus, making repairs, etcetera. May be required to perform other underground work such us preparing cable racks, pulling in and racking cables, maintaining equipment in the underground system, etc. Shall install and maintain services, meters, and equipment including conduit and wiring up to the meter on customers' premises and shall handle trouble in such installations. Drives a truck and operates the associated equipment as assigned. Background of apprenticeship and experience must be such as to qualify an employee to perform these duties with skill and efficiency. Shall be familiar with Company's standards, procedures and safety regulations.
This position may be subject to Joint Apprentice Training Committee (JATC) review and approval. Provisional hires will be required to participate in targeted training to achieve journey-level knowledge of electrical technician roles and responsibilities.
This position is in the Bay Area region, and headquarters in Oakland subject to change based on business needs.
This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $67.58 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
Job Responsibilities
* Perform all necessary duties with skill and efficiency by performing maintenance on underground transmission and distribution lines.
* Perform work in connection with the construction and maintenance of underground manholes, vaults, splice boxes, duct lines and similar structures.
* Installs and maintains services, meters, and equipment including conduit and wiring up to the meter on customers' premises
* Maintains equipment in the underground system
* Prepares cable racks
* Pulls and racks underground cables and wires into and out of pipes, conduits and duct lines.
* Splices cables of any kind or voltage for the connection of cable, transformers, junction boxes, and other equipment in the underground or overhead systems or stations.
* Ensure effective customer and internal communication.
* Restore service to the public by installing / repairing services and all types of meters.
* Analyze cable and equipment trouble quickly and restore services promptly by replacing fuses, switching, disconnecting defective cable on apparatus efficiently.
* Identify the location of and extent to which underground structures such as man holes and vaults have been damaged and perform minor repairs safely on underground enclosures.
* Isolate Network grid secondary's and Network Protectors (NP's).
* Install and remove Recording Volt Meters (RVM's) for power quality research.
* Physically demanding work that may include lifting, climbing, as well as going into confined spaces.

Qualifications
Minimum:
* CA CDL Class A Permit, or equivalent, subject to 150% driver/vehicle ratio

* Must possess a High School diploma or GED
* Completion of formal union sanctioned Cable Splicer apprenticeship

The Cable Technician is responsible for installation and documentation of new and/or updated Inside Plant cable infrastructure to include conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber and all associated elements in the Pentagon, Mark Center & buildings within the National Capital Region (NCR).
Responsibilities Include:
- Analyzes, administers, and maintains telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
- Responsible for tasks assigned by Coordinators in connection with service orders and repair activities related to Category 6 cabling, Voice over IP networks (VOIP), and fiber optic cabling infrastructure.
- Installs, maintains and repairs voice and data communications systems.
- Interprets service orders, circuit diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Tests, locates, installs, and repairs cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls, and performs routine maintenance.
- Verifies work order information and receipt of all necessary equipment and information.
- Verifies service by testing installed cabling, identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
- Well versed in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs and fiber power meters.
- Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
- Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation.
- Identify, track and remove abandoned cable, and keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards.
- Dress, terminate and test cables and components including CAT6 and fiber optic cabling.
- Must follow JSP and commercial best practice procedures, standards required for installation of cable racks, wiring of the racks and testing required during installation.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field required.
Experience:
- 3β5 years of experience creating work instructions for cable assembly manufacturing.

Position Responsibilities:
Perform pickup, rework, authorized changes, and functional checks on work typically installed or assembled by lower classifications.
Use a tension meter to set cable tension according to specifications.
Conduct reaming and riveting as necessary to complete work assignments.
Report job handicaps, such as errors in parts, materials, or assembly procedures, following shop procedures.
Select appropriate parts, materials, and tools, and work with blueprints, assembly pages, and work orders to install and adjust cable-controlled systems in the aircraft.
Review bar charts or automated timelines to determine job assignments and obtain necessary drawings.
Locate work areas using drawings or paperwork that specify airplane and section numbers.
Verify kitted parts against installation plans and bill of materials to ensure they are correct and free of defects.
Obtain parts from the Parts Control Area if they are not pre-picked, ensuring they meet specifications.
Drill, ream, and countersink holes in parts/assemblies per specifications, using appropriate tools.
Disassemble parts and deburr holes to prepare for fastener installation.
Use solvents to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly, and apply sealants, alodine, primers, adhesives, and special finishes as required.
Install cable control pulleys and rig control cables according to drawings and specifications.
Check and adjust actuator motors for full travel of flight control systems using power sources and hand tools.
Clean the work area and ensure the removal of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and submit completed jobs or in-process checks to inspectors as required.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

- Manage projects, plans, provide and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary engineering Commissioning role for large facility projects.

- Participate in daily commissioning activity meetings which services include: Equipment pre-start-up and start-up procedures; Development of standard operating procedures (SOP's) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs); Comprehensive Commissioning documentation.
- Prepare commissioning test procedures and reports; Develop and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklist, and other tools to track commissioning projects; Write comprehensive reports which include the following sections: recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, list of deficiencies, equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
- Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning.
- Integrated system testing; Load Bank Testing; Compilation of all testing procedure results.
- Develop and administer functional tests for various systems, such as: electrical distribution systems, UPS, standby generators, etc.
- System Assembly; Commission plan preparation; Follow company QC process and procedures.
- Help lead and manage any external resources; Schedule and direct periodic commissioning meetings; Attend construction and coordination meetings if required for the project.
- Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors and owners' agents as needed; Execute project assignments; Interface with project contractors, vendors, and testing technicians; Interact with all facets of the company: engineering, design, etc.

- Assist with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment as needed.

Summary
The Commissioning Director provides senior leadership and technical oversight for all commissioning activities on large Mining & Metals EPC projects. Job Purpose:
The Lead Electrical Commissioning Supervisor (βLECSβ) is generally responsible for planning, coordinating and ensuring safe and orderly progress of the work of Electrical Commissioning Specialists assigned to pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing and initial operations of systems and equipment as are placed under his/her care by the Commissioning Manager (βCMβ).
