Position Overview

YBI is seeking a highly motivated Technical Fellow of Research and Business Development to support YBI’s advanced manufacturing and additive manufacturing initiatives, with a primary focus on supporting the activities of the Youngstown Innovation Hub for Defense and Aerospace.

This position will report directly to YBI while playing a key role in advancing the Innovation Hub’s mission to accelerate additive and advanced manufacturing technologies for defense, aerospace, and industrial applications. The role bridges applied research, federal program development, regional supply-chain engagement, and the development of shared-use, fee-for-service technical services that support manufacturers across Northeast Ohio and the broader Midwest.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development, Commercialization & Innovation Hub Support

• Identify, pursue, and develop business development opportunities aligned with YBI’s advanced manufacturing strategy and the Youngstown Innovation Hub’s defense and aerospace focus.

• Support commercialization and technology transition efforts that move innovations from TRL/MRL development into pilot and production environments.

• Engage OEMs, tier suppliers, foundries, tooling and mold shops, and additive manufacturing service providers throughout Northeast Ohio and the Midwest.

• Represent YBI in engagements with industry partners, government agencies, academic institutions, and regional economic development organizations.

Shared-Use & Fee-for-Service Program Development

• Lead the design, launch, and expansion of YBI’s internal fee-for-service and shared-use technical services, in coordination with Innovation Hub activities.

• Develop service offerings, engagement models, and pricing strategies for reverse engineering, 3D scanning and metrology, rapid prototyping, additive manufacturing, and mold/tooling design.

• Align service capabilities with regional manufacturing needs, workforce development priorities, and defense supply-chain requirements.

• Support utilization of YBI and Innovation Hub equipment and facilities by industry partners, small businesses, and startups.

Grant Writing & Federal Program Development

• Lead and support competitive proposals for SBIR/STTR, Department of Defense, and manufacturing-focused federal funding programs.

• Integrate YBI capabilities, Innovation Hub assets, and sustainable revenue models into grant proposals and long-term program strategies.

• Coordinate proposal development across YBI staff, technical teams, academic partners, and administrative stakeholders.

Research, Technical & Market Analysis

• Conduct applied research and market analysis related to additive manufacturing, advanced materials, and hybrid manufacturing processes.

• Support applied R&D, demonstration projects, and pilot programs in metal and ceramic additive manufacturing.

• Evaluate manufacturability, scalability, cost, and quality considerations for transitioning technologies into production.

• Prepare technical reports, white papers, and sponsor-facing deliverables.

Required Qualifications

• PhD preferred (Master’s degree with significant relevant experience will be considered).

• Demonstrated experience in federal grant writing, particularly SBIR/STTR programs.

• Strong applied research and technical analysis capabilities.

• Working knowledge of additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

• Experience working with or supporting programs for the U.S. Department of War

• Experience building or managing shared-use, fee-for-service, or applied research service models.

The IT QA Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of application and system quality assurance. This role ensures that software, systems, and infrastructure meet organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

The QA Manager will collaborate closely with Solution Delivery Leaders, Business Stakeholders, Project Managers, and Development Leads to ensure successful solution implementations.

This role will lead both functional and non-functional testing efforts aligned with implementation requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce QA policies, procedures, and standards.
• Lead the design and execution of test plans, including functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Manage defect tracking, root cause analysis, and resolution processes.

• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and business teams to align QA efforts with project goals.
• Conduct audits and generate quality reports and metrics.
• Stay current with emerging QA tools, technologies, and best practices.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience as a QA Manager, with expertise in quality management, schedule oversight, complex problem-solving, and performance optimization.
• 5+ years of experience developing executive-level documentation and QA performance metrics.
• Proven track record of building and managing high-performing QA teams, preferably within the retail domain.
• Extensive experience in test environment management, test data management, and test strategy development.
• Proficient in managing QA teams across Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid project methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with a wide range of QA tools, systems, and software.
• Demonstrated success in managing distributed teams across onsite, offshore, and nearshore locations.
• Strong understanding of both manual and automated testing, including regression, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Deep experience in risk-based testing (RBT), performance testing, and test automation.
• Advocate for reusable components—both process and technical.
• Expertise in testing APIs, Web UI, SaaS, and desktop applications.
• Familiarity with JavaScript-based Web UI automation frameworks.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices and implementing QA automation within CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to deliver initiatives on time and within budget.

Desired Qualifications

• Familiarity with Section 508 compliance standards and accessibility testing.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, ITIL, Six Sigma, CCMP, or CISA.
• Experience with test automation tools including Rest Assured, Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, and Cucumber.
• Expertise in developing and maintaining Java-based automation frameworks and custom QA tools.
• Proficiency in performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or NeoLoad.
• Possession of external technical certifications, preferably cloud-based (e.g., Azure, or Google Cloud).

We are seeking an Application Portfolio Owner to join our Information Technology (IT) team. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of applications that support Construction Project Operations. You will collaborate with stakeholders, optimize application performance, and ensure that our technology portfolio delivers maximum value to the organization. Reporting to the Application Portfolio Manager, you will serve as the bridge between technical teams and business units, aligning technology with Clayco’s strategic objectives.

The Specifics of the Role

Portfolio Management

• Own the Operations application portfolio supporting departments such as Project Management, Scheduling, Safety, Quality, Estimating/Preconstruction, Prequalification, Subcontractor Management, and Workforce Planning.
• Make lifecycle decisions (invest, replace, sustain, retire) to reduce redundancies and optimize total cost of ownership.
• Maintain an accurate CMDB/system-of-record, data dictionaries, and role/permission models.
• Develop and maintain a roadmap and backlog for updates, enhancements, and integrations.
• Maintain a strong understanding of data creation, usage, and flows upstream/downstream.
• Monitor license usage and performance to optimize efficiency.
• Major systems supported include Procore, PMWeb, P6, DEstimator, Clearstory, and BridgIT

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Serve as the primary point of contact for business units regarding application needs.
• Collaborate across teams to understand workflows, challenges, and opportunities.
• Translate business needs into actionable technical requirements.
• Adhere to requirements intake processes and document clearly for technical teams.

Performance and Reliability

• Ensure applications perform optimally with minimal downtime.
• Coordinate with vendors and technical teams to address performance, patches, and updates.
• Monitor KPIs and SLAs to ensure compliance with performance benchmarks.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify process improvements and new feature opportunities within the portfolio.
• Stay current on industry trends and best practices.
• Invest in understanding Clayco’s business processes, pain points, and opportunities.
• Collaborate with Application Managers and Support Engineers to evaluate enhancements.

Governance and Compliance

• Ensure applications comply with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
• Support development and enforcement of governance practices.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to identify and mitigate risks.

Reporting and Communication

• Provide regular updates on portfolio performance, project status, and risks.
• Deliver reports on ROI, usage trends, and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Communicate changes, updates, and issues to stakeholders effectively.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years in IT, application management, or related roles.
• Construction industry experience required.
• Hands-on experience with Procore, PMWeb, Primavera P6, DEstimator, BridgIT, Clearstory (or equivalents).
• Understanding of integration patterns, data modeling/lineage, and BI/reporting.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills, with comfort working across all levels of the organization (superintendents, PMs, estimators, schedulers, safety/quality teams, and executives).
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.

The Manager, Client Services Application is responsible for the comprehensive management, support, and optimization of our diverse suite of client services applications, which are fundamental to delivering an elevated client experience within our best-in-class call center. The successful candidate will oversee both our existing legacy environment and a growing portfolio of complex, cloud-based platforms, including Salesforce Service Cloud, Commerce Cloud, Vonage, and new Order Management System (OMS) platforms.

Responsibilities

• Application Management & Support: Provide expert-level application management and support for a wide array of client services applications, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and seamless operation for our call center.
