Summary:

Essential Work Functions:
  • Receive and conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and assess their post-anesthesia condition
  • Monitor and evaluate patient's vital signs, level of consciousness, and recovery from anesthesia
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved post-anesthesia nursing techniques
  • Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of recovering patients
  • Observe and document patient conditions, treatments, and significant incidents and respond to anesthesia and treatments, notifying the care team of significant changes or adverse reactions
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations utilizing PACU nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in the medical records
  • Develop and deliver individualized patient and family education plans, including detailed discharge instructions and recovery guidelines
  • Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive post-operative care
  • Participate in patient handoff communications to ensure continuity of care between OR, PACU, and post-PACU units
  • Operate and monitor PACU-specific equipment, such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Required Essential Skills:

Collaborate with families and caregivers to integrate therapy strategies into daily routines.

Deliver compassionate, one-on-one support in home and community settings.

Communicate effectively and consistently with supervising therapists, team members, service coordinators, translators, and administrative staff.

Assist in documenting progress notes, daily treatment logs, and discharge summaries per OASIS standards.

Maintain HIPAA compliance with all communication and documentation.

Participate in mandatory staff meetings and enjoy optional team bonding events to stay connected and informed.

Documentation Requirements

Treatment notes and discharges must be completed within 2 days of a visit.

Missed visit notes must be completed weekly according to the established schedule.

All notes are reviewed and co-signed by the supervising occupational therapist.

License & Training Requirements

Current DORA and NBCOT certification as a COTA.

Completion of state-mandated continuing education per DORA requirements.

Maintain current CPR certification.

Report any DUI, misdemeanor, or felony convictions or accusations to OASIS.

This position offers a Division Chief leadership role in a growing and dynamic Hematology and Cellular Therapy program dedicated to clinical and translational research as well as exceptional patient care.


The Division Chief works with the AHN Cancer Institute Chair and other leaders to develop and implement strategies and processes for patients under the care of the Division of Hematology and Cellular Therapy. The Division Chief shall also maintain all current and future standards of care, both inpatient and outpatient, as well as accreditations needed to assure service for the region. The Division Chief will maintain the same standards and accreditations for subdivisions of the Cell Processing and Molecular Hematology Laboratory. The Division Chief will assume responsibilities for research and development within the division and connect these activities to the larger goals of the AHN Cancer Institute. The successful candidate will be considered for the role of Division Chief of the Hematology and Cellular Therapy Program.

  • Participate actively in the Cellular Therapy Program, including patient selection, conditioning, cellular therapy procedure, post-cellular therapy management, and management of complications
  • Participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities as assigned
  • Contribute to research activity within the department, including investigator-initiated trials, cooperative group and industry-sponsored clinical trials, laboratory investigation, and publication of research findings


Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
  • Board-certified in Hematology and/or oncology
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved Hematology/Oncology Fellowship
  • Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment
  • 7+ years of experience in hematology/oncology
  • Extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of hematological malignancy
  • Significant experience in all aspects of cellular therapy
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong commitment to patient care and education

Patient Care Type: The Infusion Therapy specialty area provides coverage daily from 7:00 am - 11:30 pm in the hospital-based outpatient Infusion Therapy Center.

Nursing Team Roles: Infusion Therapy nurses are experts in the areas of intravenous medication administration, vascular access care and maintenance, PICC line placement and care, and are a resource for the Department of Nursing and institution on vascular access care and troubleshooting. The Infusion Therapy Center provides a broad variety of infusion therapy such as IV medication, IM injection, blood product administration, and therapeutic phlebotomy.

The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. Summary: This is professional level work involving the evidence- based evaluation of patient disabilities, planning, and administration of physical therapy treatments.

Diagnostic Testing
- Administers basic & complex diagnostic tests and evaluations in the area of Physical Therapy for the treatment of mobility disorders and related impairments 2.
