Core Job Responsibilities- Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day implementation and management of the hospital's sepsis program.
- Create and implement evidence-based sepsis protocols to ensure consistent and timely patient care.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate healthcare staff on sepsis recognition, treatment, and best practices. Educate nurses and providers to identify and treat symptoms in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with various departments, such as nursing, medicine, and laboratory services, to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes.
- Ensure the sepsis program meets regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
- Act as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for sepsis care throughout the organization.
- Actively round on patients with suspected or confirmed sepsis to ensure patients receive appropriate care.
- Evaluate and analyze utilization of treatment protocols for patients experiencing sepsis to reduce mortality rates and decrease patient length of stay

REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or health-related field required (will consider candidates actively pursuing this degree on an individual basis).
- Three (3) years clinical experience, with knowledge of sepsis pathophysiology, early recognition, and evidence based treatment of disease and patient management.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of staff and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to educate and influence interdisciplinary teams.
- Proficient with EHR systems (Epic) and data collection tools.
PREFERRED:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Lean Six Sigma training.
- Experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- Experience with current sepsis guidelines.
- Completion of Sepsis education/certification courses (e.g., Surviving Sepsis Campaign).
- Knowledge of Quality Management, Performance Improvement and Utilization Management requirements and methodologies; including data abstraction and analysis.
