Safety Management Group is seeking an HSE Advisor with OCIP experience in the Indianapolis, Indiana, area.

The HSE Advisor position will provide leadership for all aspects of the site Contractor Health, Safety and Environmental (CHSEMP) program, including the following:

• Performance of event investigation and meeting reviews as required in Contractor HSE Advisor & Environmental Management Program (CHSEMP) documents.
• Must be proficient in root cause analysis.
• Administration of claims management for all contractor-related events on the projects.
• Completing at least five documented field observation reports per week and ensuring accurate field observation documentation is entered into the tracking database.
• Translation of field observation findings into a summary format, including trend analysis.
• Facilitation of pre-bid and pre-contraFacilitate needed.
• Lead meetings from an HSE perspective and inform contractors/vendors in attendance of HSE requirements.
• Attendance at progress or contractor meetings as requested.
• Complete process verifications to indicate conformance to the CHSEMP process.
• Assisting Owner employees during the Contract Firm HSE Qualification process.
• Prepares and provides reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action to appropriate customer personnel.
• Ensures work activities are performed in alignment with OSHA and state regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety from a four-year college or university with a minimum of 10 years of related work experience.
• Professional Certification is desired. If not, the Advisor must be willing to obtain it.
• Ability to interpret and apply in practice, construction, and environmental information from all codes, standards, regulations, Federal and State laws, and applicable regulatory documents.
• Experience and a general understanding of industrial hygiene applications and process contractor HSE Advisor management requirements.
• Capable of providing contractor HSE Advisor support to various trades/services, including (but not limited to) facility maintenance, laboratories, housekeeping, and project construction.
• Have thorough knowledge of lead/asbestos regulations and hazardous waste handling.
• Prior experience/knowledge of risk management, statistical methods, and behavior-based contractor HSE Advisor concepts.
• Prior experience in program development and technical writing.
• Working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with statistical control methods.
• Experience with Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP).

This location is part of our Prepared Foods Division. The Complex Safety Manager will provide Safety leadership and strategic direction by leading the plants Safety continuous improvement efforts at the South Hutchinson and working closely with the Hutchinson location. As an integral member of the Plant Management Team this position will support and advise site management with regard to the Safety Management system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety Strategy and Vision:

• Formulate and drive a proactive local safety strategy to establish a sustainable, healthy, and operationally safe plant.
• Participate in the development of a visionary safety framework, continually enhancing existing programs, and consistently implementing new initiatives within a collaborative team environment.

Health and Safety Advocacy:

• Contribute to efforts aimed at eliminating, preventing, or reducing safety, health, and medical issues.
• Facilitate the development and maintenance of behaviors, attitudes, and a safety culture aligning with Tyson Foods' goals, acting as a change agent to accelerate best practice sharing within the facility.

Program Direction and Innovation:

• Direct safety programs site-wide, recommending and implementing new initiatives to minimize company losses due to accidents.
• Measure the effectiveness of safety programs and lead compliance with OSHA regulations and the OSHA Tyson Foods Ergonomic program.

Compliance Oversight:

• Inspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
• Maintain OSHA files and support documents, accompanying OSHA inspectors during plant inspections.

Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:

• Regularly inspect and review plant operations to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Report potential violations, recommend corrections as needed, and analyze accident statistics to establish necessary precautions for enhanced plant safety.

Communication and Training:

• Communicate safety policy and procedure changes to management personnel.
• Conduct safety inspections and procedural audits in the field, taking immediate corrective action if required.

Policy Review and Training:

• Review all safety areas, policies, determine causes, and identify corrective actions.
• Conduct training in areas such as ergonomics, emergency response team, lockout/tag out, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment.

Incident Investigation and Reporting:

• Investigate all safety-related incidents, review incident reports, and complete necessary reports for insurance carriers, risk management systems, and the corporate safety office.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Management Engineering, or Industrial Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Experience: 3 plus years of progressive experience in environment safety and sustainability management preferred. Strong knowledge of safety regulations OSHA hazard communications, accident investigation and safety training methods. Knowledge of industry best practice regarding safety and environmental approaches with PSM RMP safety practices.
• Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.
• Communication Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Strong written and verbal communication.
• Special Skills: Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.

Safety Manager

The Safety Manager supports the Division Safety Leader in enforcing and regulating all safety procedures to ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements across field operations and facilities. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating division safety activities and supporting fabrication shop safety efforts within Maryland.

Key Responsibilities

• Tour and inspect fabrication facilities to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal OSHA regulations
• Partner with Operations management to identify and mitigate risks
• Report safety concerns to senior leadership and ensure enforcement of OSHA regulations and company safety policies
• Document safety inspections, identify hazardous areas or procedures, and recommend corrective actions
• Ensure non-compliance issues are resolved within designated timeframes
• Maintain required safety documentation, including accident reports, inspection reports, and training logs
• Track trends and injury rates; develop and implement loss control strategies
• Provide emergency response support as needed
• Participate in accident and injury investigations; submit required documentation to regulatory agencies

• Lead and mentor less-experienced safety professionals; may include direct supervision
• Lead and manage special safety projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Applied Sciences, or related discipline preferred
• 7–10 years of relevant safety experience, including employee training
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required
• OSHA 10-hour, OSHA 30-hour, and OSHA 40-hour training required
• OSHA 500, NFPA 70E, CHST, or ASP certifications required
• CSP certification preferred
• Strong working knowledge of health and safety management systems, OSHA CFR 1926, CFR 1910, EM 385 standards, and/or state construction safety regulations

The Safety Manager (SM) is responsible for implementing the company’s efforts in the following areas: Safety Management Systems, Risk Management and Loss Reductions, Safety Audits, and Safety Training. The SM would assist with task pertaining to Fleet Operations.

Reports to: Director of Corporate Safety, the Director of Field Operations, Superintendents, Project Executives and Project Managers to assure that the company’s safety policies and procedures are implemented.

Responsibilities and Duties

Safety Management Systems

• Participate as a member of the MTG Safety and Accident Committee
• Provide field observations and suggestions regarding the corporate safety policies and Corporate Safety Plan
• Assist project superintendents and project managers in the development of Job Specific Safety Plans
• Develop Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA’s) based on the intended work

Risk Management and Loss Reduction

• Provide field observations and suggestions regarding opportunities to prevent injuries and accidents, improve safety performance and lower insurance costs
• Assist with: claims handling and their resolution; injuries and perform accident investigations and development of related reports
• Assist in returning and monitoring the progress of injured employees as they perform modified duty on our projects
• Implement record keeping requirements
• Review and confirm current insurance certificates for Subcontractors intended to and/or currently working on our projects to assure compliance

Safety Audits

• Conduct assigned safety audits
• Provide immediate input, advice and direction to resolve and mitigate potential hazardous conditions and assure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements
• Provide daily Predictive Solutions (PS) reports of field audit observations after completion of the audit and provide the appropriate corrective action information to those included in the PS distribution lists
• Assist the project supervisory team to review upcoming work areas to preplan and determine if unidentified safety concerns need to be addressed before work begins
• Follow-up with subcontractor safety representatives to assure that all mitigating actions have been taken, issues have been addressed and resolved, and closed out on the PS audit program
• Assist in OSHA project inspections
• Assure that project safety files & logs are maintained and kept up to date
• Supervise the implementation of SDS communications program
• Assure that all safety signs and safety equipment are adequately supplied to assigned project sites
• Provide support and technical advice to project supervisory team on all safety matters
• Assist with the annual respiratory protection program needs and duties

Safety Training

• Provide Safety-Training program
• Assist in scheduling and logistics for specific training programs
• Perform jobsite employee training as needed
• Attend and assist during weekly Contractor and Subcontractor Foreman meetings, scheduled safety meetings, and preparatory meetings as needed and/or as requested
• Participate in and conduct specific training programs and maintain required certifications
• Assist with the system in place to maintain accurate records of employee Safety-Training and certifications

Required Education

• HS Diploma

Preferred Education

• A degree in Safety and Health or related field is preferred.

Required Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in applying safety standards, regulations and procedures as it relates to manuals, audits, reports, checklists, etc. for a general contractor, subcontractor, or related engineering or environmental health and safety consulting firm.
• Previous experience working within the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, USACE EM385-1-1 Safety & Health Standards, and other federal, state, local or special customer regulations that govern building construction and safety requirements.

In the role of Safety and Security Officer working in Elkton, VA you will be part of the Brewery Safety team. You will be responsible for initiating and maintaining an overall safety and security program. This role will monitor building and grounds to determine security issues and potentially hazardous conditions or safety violations.
