Food Quality Supervisor

About the Role The Quality Supervisor is a critical member of the New Century, Kansas siteβs quality leadership team.
This role is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, leading the implementation and improvement of quality systems, and acting as the plantβs key quality representative in cross-functional forums.
This role also plays a key part in factory technical support, new product trials, sanitation verification, and the release of finished goods.
As a frontline leader, youβll manage a small team of lab technicians, ensure quality coverage on all shifts, and drive day-to-day execution of lab and plant-based quality programs.
The Quality Supervisor will also serve as the backup to the Quality Manager, acting as the point of contact for any Quality and Food Safety concerns and during regulatory inspections.
What You'll Do Lead and develop lab staff, ensuring proper training, shift coverage, and adherence to analytical protocols.
Oversee the daily release of finished goods and the management of non-compliant product issues.
Coordinate and improve factory Quality systems (e.g., SOPs, HACCP, GMP, auditing programs) in alignment with FSSC 22000 standards.
Partner with supply chain, operations, and maintenance teams to integrate Quality into plant performance and decision-making.
Verify site sanitation performance and ensure proper function and upkeep of sanitation-critical equipment.
Support R&D trials and innovation projects, including capability evaluations, product scale-ups, and process improvement.
Manage and maintain quality documentation, including product specifications, SOPs, and training records.
Investigate and resolve product holds, consumer complaints, and raw material quality issues using structured RCA (Root Cause Analysis).
Support the ongoing development of plant-wide Quality and Food Safety awareness and training.
Ensure alignment with Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) standards and actively participate in WCM (World Class Manufacturing) initiatives.
Serve as the siteβs Quality lead in the absence of the Quality Manager.
Bachelorβs degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 3 yearsβ experience in Food Quality Assurance, Food Lab Operations, or related quality functions, managing a team.
Proven experience in lab management, analytical methods, and food safety compliance.
Familiarity with SPC, SOP development, sanitation verification, GMPs, and FSSC 22000.
Experience supporting factory expansions, change management, or quality systems implementation is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Access databases and SAP preferred.
Knowledge of lab chemicals, food industry microbiological testing, weighing systems, and sample collection protocols.
Demonstrated ability to lead in a high-performance culture, drive continuous improvement, and manage change.
Must be available for off-shift or weekend coverage as required by the factory.

The primary purpose of the Automation Controls Engineer is to provide automation support to the facility in the electrical, instrumentation and controls disciplines primarily for batch and continuous processes and packaging systems.
