General description

Under general direction, provide culturally competent individual, group, and family therapy in order to: help children and students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally; strengthen families and connect them with the resources they need; and create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment, in collaboration with educators and other professionals.



Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group and family services - including therapy, treatment coordination, and case management - to children, students, and families served by a variety of SBCEO programs, including students with a history of disciplinary and/or behavioral issues in traditional school environments and students in the juvenile justice center.
  • Make recommendations to school or program staff and families for behavioral health services and placements, as well as referrals to families for accessing and utilizing school and community resources, as appropriate.
  • Provide consultative support and professional expertise to instructional or program staff, service providers, administrators, and families regarding behavioral health, behavioral issues, and substance abuse.
  • Provide crisis support to students and their families, helping students regain academic, social, and emotional success and promoting family stability to enable the student to function more effectively in school and community; provide post-crisis intervention case management, including helping families link to intensive, wrap-around behavioral health services.
  • Participate in the intervention/coordination of services team with other behavioral health professionals serving community school students.
  • Review and approve services provided by other staff for purposes of billing MediCal and other payers.
  • Attend and participate in various in-services, committees, and workshops; develop, implement and conduct in-service training sessions for families and staff.
  • Maintain treatment and case management records, observing all relevant legal regulations related to patient and student confidentiality.

Requirements

A typical way to qualify for this classification would be:


Education: Possession of a qualifying master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.


Experience: Three years of post-licensure experience providing therapy to at-promise (at-risk) youth or families, preferably in a school environment.

  • Ability to obtain ordering, referring, and prescribing privileges from Medi-Cal.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License, reliable transportation, and insurance coverage as required by law may be required for some positions in this classification.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications may be required for some positions in this classification.


Working conditions

Positions in this classification are considered generally sedentary. Most work is performed while sitting at a desk and usually involves extensive use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment. Strenuous physical activity - such as lifting and carrying heavy objects, crawling, or stooping - is not generally associated with these positions. These positions are not typically exposed to significant safety hazards.

Local travel by car to a variety of locations countywide, in order to attend meetings and provide service to students and families, is required.

Classified salary ranges have 26 steps (A-Z). Initial salary placement for new hires is between steps A and J, based on qualifications.

Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

SCOPE OF WORK

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

For Workers Compensation claims the adjuster will contact the injured employee, employer, and medical provider to document the claim. For Liability claims the adjuster will contact the claimant, the division and any witnesses.

The Workers Compensation Adjuster calculates/processes disability benefits for impairment ratings of 1% or more when issuing benefits to avoid penalties. Sets up medical claims to document/update current work status and treatment. Monitors/obtains medical records and work status to ensure timely calculation and payment of indemnity and impairment ratings, complete State EDI mandated reporting within regulated time frames to avoid penalties. Contacts injured employee, employer, and medical provider to document claim. Conducts field investigations, face-to-face statements with employees, employer representatives and witnesses to understand the nature of the claim and gain an understanding of what occurred prior to the claim.

Consults on injury cases with various medical personnel in order to ascertain the extent and cost of treatment, loss of earning capacity and prognosis confers with County physician on employment limitations.

Performs the calculation and payment of benefits whether indemnity and/or medical benefits, including entering all payments for benefits.

For disability more than 8 days, initiates timely electronic filings to Division of Workers' Compensation.

Calculates/processes timely disability benefits and impairment ratings of 1% or more when given to issue benefits to avoid penalties.

Authorizes/coordinates medical treatment with walk-in facilities and specialists to update claim.

Processes outgoing letters to injured employees and medical providers and places them on notice of action taking place.

Sets up medical only claims to document/update current work status and treatment.

Monitors work status for a disability of 7 days or less through discharge for closing a claim.

Processes employee-received notices of outstanding medical bills to resolve non-payment issues.

Monitors/obtains discharge papers for impairment ratings and issues benefits when owed and paid within mandated timeframe to avoid penalties.

Denies/processes claims for non-work-related injuries with timely electronic filing to avoid penalties.

Conducts recorded interviews with employees and witnesses.

Reviews and analyzes reports of accidents including property damage and bodily injury to determine liability; reviews and analyzes Liability and/or Workers' Compensation claims and recommends appropriate action.

Coordinates the gathering of formal evidence by taking photographs, preparing diagrams and making measurements at accident scene; arranges for witnesses to appear at legal proceedings; and prepares accident reports.

Negotiate claim settlements with the Director of Risk Management, the County Administrator, the County Attorney, claimants and/or their legal teams. Attend mediations with the County Attorney's office to support the claims process.

Provide advice regarding potential fraud, subrogation, and underwriting/safety risk, and communication with counsel.

Analyze complex information from different sources, such as police reports, videos from surveillance cameras or audio, and other information to further understand the incident.

Make decisions for approval of medical treatments and property restoration. Make determinations on liability or compensability for Workers Compensation claims. Apportion percentage of liability and negotiate settlement with claimant or claimant's attorney or Liability Claims.

Review police reports, medical treatment records, medical bills, or physical property damage to determine the extent of liability.

Investigates liability claims, inputs data into the system association with findings.

Attends meetings with other Divisions, Professional Standards/Human Rights Section (PS/HRS), and Human Resources to discuss complex claims.

Performs related work as assigned.

Job Summary

Note: This role is a Temporary opportunity with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027. The anticipated end date is subject to departmental and budgetary considerations.

The Crisis Responder II position will reside in the Regional Crisis Response (RCR) Agency and report directly to the Crisis Responder Supervisor. The Crisis Responder II serves on a team of other citywide community responders as part of the RCR Agency, which provides a consolidated and standardized mobile crisis response program operating throughout the jurisdictions served. The RCR Agency is an inclusive organization that endeavors to build a work culture which embraces diversity, encourages participation, and promotes equity.

Crisis Responders use evidence-based practice that promotes well-being through assessment, brief intervention, referral to services, and prevention. Crisis Responders incorporate knowledge of human behavior, sociology, psychiatry, psychology, and many other social science disciplines using advocacy, compassion and de-escalation and crisis intervention skills to support those with unmet needs in a culturally responsive manner. They work as a team, and collaborate with other local, regional, state and federal programs to identify gaps in existing resources for community members. The primary focus of work is crisis intervention, resource referral, and follow-up; this work is conducted in community settings such as health care organizations, businesses, homes, public spaces and at social service agencies.

Distinguishing Characteristics: The Crisis Responder II is the journey-level position within the Crisis Responder job series. This classification is reserved for those who hold an independent clinical practice license from the State of Washington Department of Health. An employee in the Crisis Responder I will move to the Crisis Responder II classification when they are able to demonstrate that they have become independently licensed by the Washington State Department of Health.

Peripheral Duties:
  • Performs functions as assigned in the City's emergency response plan in the event of an emergency.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's Degree in social work, sociology, psychology, human development or other related field.

Licenses and Other Requirements:
  • Must be a licensed independent social worker, mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapist as defined by WAC 246-8
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Prefer American Safety Health Institute (ASHI) Healthcare provider CPR/AED/first aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Summary:

The Oncology Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to cancer patients in hospital and clinical settings. Essential Work Functions:

- Educate patients and families about oncology procedures and treatments, addressing concerns and fostering understanding to alleviate apprehension
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved oncology nursing techniques
- Prepare and maintain oncology-specific equipment assisting oncologists during treatment and examinations
- Monitor and address oncology patients' comfort, safety, and side effects, implementing interventions to enhance quality of life
- Assess and monitor patients, recording conditions and reactions identifying changes and documenting conditions and responses
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the medical records

The candidate must have excellent communication and writing skills to complete internal audits, write technical reports including Standard Operating Procedures and conduct detection limit studies using approved methods. The position is required to assist field personnel in sampling events when necessary. General Description

SCOPE OF WORK

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

The position requires knowledge of analytical techniques related to the analyses of nutrients, metals and/or organics in environmental samples, using highly technical instrumentation that includes Ion Coupled Plasma Spectrometer (ICPMS), Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GCMS) and a Segmented Flow Analyzer depending on the assigned area. It also requires knowledge of wet chemistry techniques for the analyses of total suspended solids and turbidity. Candidates with experience analyzing microbiology environmental samples using IDEXX will also be considered. The position requires method development and troubleshooting skills for the instrumentation assigned. NELAP experience is required.

In addition to the responsibilities listed in the Classification Description, this position will be responsible for: (1) data entry in the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), (2) maintain National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) requirements for the methods assigned and (3) assist in the field for sampling as needed.

Analyzes samples of different chemistry types while adhering to many Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) regulations.

Enters data into Lab lynx computer software. Data is used in reports submitted to the state.

Collects and manages records as well as samples for predetermined amount of time.

Analyzes process, compliance, and regulatory samples using gravimetric, colorimetric, and microbiological analysis.

Records management of standards, data, maintenance, reagents, media, temperatures, and supplies.

Performs chemical/biochemical analysis including Biochemical Oxygen Demand, solids, turbidity, and chlorine titrations.

Performs Microbiological analysis including Total and Fecal Coliform by membrane filtration and Total coliform by Colilert.

Performs Instrumental Analysis such as Ion Chromatography for Nutrients and Gas Chromatography for Organics.

Analyzes chemical and microbiological analyses for the wastewater plant.

Reports analytical data into a Laboratory Information Management System.

Performs advanced analytical procedures on spectrophotometers and electrode instrumentation.

Prepares reagents for the Chemical Requisition Program for the water and wastewater plants.

Extracts semi-volatile organics samples from water, soil and wastes for Gas Chromatography (GC)/Mass Spectrometry (MS) and GC analysis.

Analyzes the prepared samples for petroleum, herbicides and pesticides. Enters the analytical results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Prepares organics glassware for sample extraction per Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) protocols.

Assists with data entry and Quality control (QC) checking for the laboratory. Monitors temperatures for laboratory sample refrigerators for QC purposes.

Receives laboratory samples and enters them into the LIMS.

Assists with test designing for various laboratory methods in the LIMS and fixing errors which occur in test methods.

Assists field personnel in sampling events when necessary.

Assists field inspectors with sampling kits, sampling methods, and associated submission paperwork.

Performs related work as assigned.
