Our Pain Physician provides specialized medical care to patients experiencing acute or chronic pain, focusing on restoring function and improving quality of life through interventional procedures, rehabilitation, and medication management. The physician works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient clinical setting.
Pay: $400,000-$500,000/year or more.
Variable compensation plan with the ability to make more money based on production.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00am-6:00pm; 1 procedure day and 3 clinical days

RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.
Perform interventional procedures including, but not limited to, nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), spinal cord stimulation, pain pump management, and lumbar decompression.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
Supervise and collaborate with mid-level providers across outpatient clinics and affiliated facilities.
Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests; coordinate referrals to specialists when appropriate.
Prescribe medications and monitor patient response to ensure safety and efficacy.
Educate patients on their diagnosis, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and care expectations.
Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Comply with clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and organizational policies.
Actively participate in team meetings, peer reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine
MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Texas medical license
Strong clinical skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Preferred:
Board Certification in Pain Medicine
Clinical background in Anesthesiology or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
Active DEA license and credentialing with major Texas payer networks and Medicare
Experience in interventional procedures and multimodal pain management
Willingness to manage patients with morphine milligram equivalents (MME) under 200
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit, stand, and perform procedures for prolonged periods
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with patient positioning as needed
Visual and manual dexterity are required for procedures and electronic documentation
Capacity to manage a fast-paced clinical environment with high patient volumes
Strong cognitive skills to assess, diagnose, and treat complex cases

The Department of Ambulatory Services at Barnes-Jewish Hospital consists of the multidisciplinary staff of BJH Ambulatory Services including responsibility for the GI Labs, Minor Procedure Center, Pain Management Center, Diabetes Center, Resident Clinics, Wound/Ostomy Center and other services as assigned. This department assures that all customers receive the highest level of attention and prompt, courteous service.

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities
- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.

Interventional Pain Management Physician Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- MD/DO degree from an accredited college or university
- ABA board certified or eligible in Anesthesiology and Pain Management
- Completion of a fellowship training in Pain Management
- A minimum of three years of experience as an IPM physician with successful patient outcomes
- A valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine issued by the Arizona Medical Board
- Must have high volume experience (40+ patients per day)
- Strong interventional skills and a patient-centered approach to care
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally
Interventional Pain Management Physician Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, treat, monitor patients with diverse pain/musculoskeletal conditions, occupational/MVA injuries, spinal pain, chronic pain, and/or orthopedic issues
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans that use interventional techniques as appropriate
- Perform minimally invasive procedures such as nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, and radiofrequency ablations.
- Collaborate with providers/peers to manage acute and chronic medical needs of patient in integrated/interdisciplinary fashion to ensure holistic patient care
- Educate patients and provide personalized and tailored care for diverse cases
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
