Assists RN, Physician and other providers and provides direct patient care in the ambulatory and/or home care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Will perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated. Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category.
Ophthalmic Assistant ($17.11-$25.67 uncertified, $19.28-$28.92 certified):
Provides quality care to patients of all ages as defined in the ambulatory care nursing philosophy of Essentia Health. Performs tests and procedures and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in providing quality eye care.

The schedule for this role is 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct 10-minute patient evaluations, seeing approximately 30 patients per day.
- Perform initial evaluations to confirm patients meet criteria for surgical procedures, receiving referrals from other Optometry practices.
- Collaborate with technicians who handle refractions and glare tests in two dedicated rooms.
- Manage long-term glaucoma patients, including medication management and follow-up appointments.
- Oversee post-operative surgical patients for conditions like cataracts and glaucoma.
- Conduct preliminary evaluations for surgical procedures, glaucoma management, cataracts management, and dry eye.
