The role focuses on evaluating member needs, developing personalized care plans, and ensuring members receive coordinated, high-quality healthcare services.

Albany Medical College is seeking a thoughtful and collaborative leader to serve as Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine. This is an opportunity to lead a well-established, highly respected academic division with a central role in outpatient care and medical education.
Albany Medical College is part of the Albany Med Health System, the only academic health sciences center and Level 1 trauma center in northeastern New York. The Division of General Internal Medicine delivers clinical care almost exclusively in the ambulatory setting, with inpatient services provided by closely aligned academic hospitalists. The Division plays a foundational role in the Department of Medicine’s undergraduate and graduate medical education programs.
About the Role
As Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, you will oversee all academic, clinical, and educational activities of the division. You will lead an institutional initiative aimed at increasing the number of medical students and trainees who choose careers in ambulatory internal medicine. Working closely with the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director and the Medical Student Clerkship Director, you will help advance excellence across UME and GME programs.
The Chief will also guide the growth of the Division’s scholarly and academic mission, while sharing operational and fiscal oversight with an experienced professional management team.
As Chief, you will have the opportunity to:
Provide strategic leadership for a well-established academic ambulatory internal medicine division
Advance innovative outpatient clinical care models in collaboration with aligned hospitalist partners
Strengthen and expand undergraduate and graduate medical education in internal medicine

MD/DO or equivalent with board certification in Internal Medicine
Established track record in academic ambulatory internal medicine, with demonstrated excellence in clinical care and education
Prior leadership, management, or program development experience preferred

Eligible for academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level
Active and unrestricted medical license or eligibility for licensure in New York State
