Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee daily operations of the company fleet, including light-duty and FMCSA-regulated vehicles.
  • Coordinate with internal and external mechanics to ensure routine maintenance, preventive services, and repairs are completed timely.
  • Track and ensure completion of annual inspections, DOT inspections, registrations, emissions testing, and required certifications.
  • Maintain detailed vehicle records, service histories, and compliance documentation.
  • Minimize vehicle downtime through proactive maintenance planning and vendor follow-up.
  • Coordinate purchase and onboarding of new fleet vehicles, manage the sale of used vehicles, and oversee all decal installation and removal to ensure branding and compliance standards are met.

Compliance, Safety & Policy Enforcement

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT and FMCSA requirements.
  • Develop, update, and enforce fleet policies, vehicle use guidelines, and driver safety standards.
  • Investigate vehicle incidents, violations, and safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain driver qualification and compliance files as required.

 

Driver Training & Performance Management

  • Conduct driver onboarding, safety training, and periodic refresher training.
  • Monitor driver behavior using telematics and safety reporting tools.
  • Maintain a driver “watch list” and meet regularly with drivers to address unsafe driving trends, policy violations, or performance concerns.
  • Promote safe driving practices and accountability across the fleet.


Telematics & Data Reporting

  • Manage the company’s telematics program, including monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
  • Review metrics such as speeding, harsh breaking, idling, and route compliance.
  • Provide regular performance and safety reports to leadership with actionable recommendations.

Fuel Tax, Regulatory Filings & Reporting

  • Oversee quarterly fuel tax reporting, including IFTA, HUT, and NY HUT filings.
  • Ensure accurate mileage and fuel data collection from drivers and telematics systems.
  • Coordinate and submit required federal and state fleet-related tax filings, including:
  • Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax (Form 2290)
  • Unified Carrier Registration (UCR)
  • Maintain compliance calendars and ensure all filings and payments are completed accurately and on time.

Registration & Licensing

  • Manage IRP registrations and renewals for all applicable fleet vehicles.
  • Ensure timely renewal of license plates, permits, and operating credentials.
  • Coordinate with state agencies and third-party vendors as needed.
  • Obtain registrations for new FE/FM owned vehicles and IRP vehicles


Claims & Incident Management

  • Manage auto accident claims from initial report through resolution – if company is at fault discuss root cause with driver and implement disciplinary action if necessary
  • Coordinate inspections, estimates, and repairs with insurance carriers and repair facilities.
  • Track claim trends and implement strategies to reduce frequency and severity of incidents.

Financial Oversight & Cost Control

  • Conduct monthly reviews of all fleet-related bills and invoices, including fuel, maintenance, repairs, telematics, tolls, and registrations.
  • Verify accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and approve charges in coordination with accounting.
  • Track fleet expenses, analyze cost trends, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and vendor negotiations related to fleet operations.

Qualifications & Skills

·        Proven experience managing a mixed fleet, including FMCSA-regulated vehicles.

·        Strong working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, fuel tax reporting, and fleet compliance.

·        Experience with federal and state regulatory filings, including:

o   IFTA, HUT, and NY HUT

o   IRP registrations and renewals

o   Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax (Form 2290)

o   Unified Carrier Registration (UCR)

o   MCS-150 biennial updates

·        Familiarity with telematics systems and driver monitoring tools.

The is a hybrid position that will require travel to the company headquarters in Belle Vernon, PA on at least a quarterly basis. The candidate is responsible for prospecting and selling Fleet Solutions services to regional trucking companies located throughout the United States. The candidate will also be responsible for servicing an established base of customers. The function of the sales position is to initiate phone contact with transportation / trucking companies, uncover their fueling needs, and build a plan to sign them as a customer or convert their fleet cards to Fuelman or Pacific Pride. The person in this role will also handle new account set-ups including credit applications, card orders, and basic account maintenance functions.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:


  • Call commercial fleet businesses over the phone to uncover new prospective candidates for Guttman Fleet Solutions services. The prospecting process will include e-mail communication and periodic face-to-face scheduled meetings.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the fleet card industry, competitor’s product offerings, and the specific fueling needs of trucking companies with 5 to 150 vehicles.
  • Schedule conference calls and in-person appointments with owners, CFO’s, and transportation managers to uncover existing fleet card pains and build a sales plan to convert their fleet card business.
  • Maintain and update all contact information and prospecting notes within Dynamics data base and prepare sales prospect activity reports for supervisor on a weekly basis.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and the 6 Guttman Group core brand attributes to customers, prospects, and employees (Respect, Lead, Collaborate, Serve, Solve and Own).

Responsibilities:

The Fleet Team Lead’s primary purpose is to oversee the completion of preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment including gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, tankers, and trailers over multiple sites:  Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Augusta and Savannah.

 

Skills Required:

 

o Teach Diagnostic platforms to all mechanics

o Assist in major component repairs and replacements

o Will have the final call in the use of 3rd party repair.

o Ensure our mechanics work on all vehicle types including forklifts and scrubbers

· Monitor work order reports daily to ensure productivity measures are achieved

· Monitor and minimize parts inventory stock

· Supports contact for dealers, when trucks are sent out

· Minimize downtime

· Support Fleet Mechanic Staffing

· Compliance Responsibilities

o Upholding Fleet Shop Standards

o Serve as the Fleet/DOT subject matter expert

o Execute Preventive Maintenance audits

· Expert and trainer with our fleet database system

o National Vendor Execution in the field

Qualifications:

Ability maintain a CDL Class B with airbrake endorsement

· Ability to secure and maintain T4 (airbrake) certification within specified period

· Must have heavy fleet tech experience

· Expert with Trimble and following all processes

· High level knowledge of all diagnostic systems

· Expert fleet mechanic with diesel, propane

· Ability to teach and hold accountable through quality coaching

· Experience with safety practices

· Ability to influence performance and change

· Experience working with vendors

· Customer focused attitude in a dynamic environment

· Proficient with computers and windows-based software.

· Ability to travel to different sites 2 to 3 days per week

  • Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment with in planned time tolerances to maximize the safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the life cycle of the fleet
  • Perform FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment in accordance with all federal, state and local legal and regulatory agencies.   • Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections per company methods on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment
  • Perform quality maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and any company-owned equipment
  • Address all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write ups timely, and efficiently

MV Transportation is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager who will be a dynamic, multi-task oriented senior professional to manage all day-to-day maintenance aspects of this fixed route bus operation. The Fleet Maintenance Manager will ensure that all contractual requirements are achieved, and duties included will consist of daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports. The Fleet Maintenance Manager must be able to properly manage a budget for maintenance program.

  • Must have at least three (3) or more years of recent (within the last five (5) years) and relevant experience managing the maintenance functions of a transit bus maintenance shop similar in scope, size, and complexity and with same or similar type of transit vehicles/equipment. 
  • Must have experience managing/ directing 10 plus employees (fleet Technicians/Service Workers/Cleaners). 
  • Experience working with 50 + buses within the last year.
