Position Summary

Job Summary

Based on Department established priorities, provides support services in the areas of prisoner transport, prisoner care and custody, alternative sentencing methods, the taking of crime reports, calls for assistance of a non-criminal nature, records data entry and other activities within the Department.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Receives into custody persons arrested by officers, completes arrest reports, fingerprints and photographs the subject, and maintains custody in the Kirkland Police Department jail. Facilitates alternative sentencing programs.
  • Transports arrested subjects to and from court or to other detention facilities.
  • Coordination of court appearances and schedules.

Essential Duties:

  • Booking of prisoners, includes input data, fingerprinting, photographing, searching, inventory and storing of personal effects.
  • Interviews all in-custody subjects and screens for medical, psychological, and behavioral issues resulting in incarceration in another facility.
  • Attends to personal bedding, hygiene needs, and medical needs of inmates as necessary.
  • Arranges court appearances and schedules.
  • Provides transports (e.g. court, detention center, dentist visits, doctor appointments, and emergency room).
  • Orders and prepares meals for prisoners and other items needed by prisoners.
  • Work Release. This includes subject interview, evaluation, receipt processing (if applicable), monitoring of payments, booking procedure, work schedule set-up, equipment application, and compliance monitoring.
  • Responsible for Electronic Home Detention (EHD). This includes subject interview, evaluation, receipt processing (if applicable), monitoring of payments, booking procedure, work schedule set-up, equipment application, and compliance monitoring.
  • Day Detention. This includes initial processing and monitoring of compliance throughout the days of court-ordered detention.
  • Serves warrants to individuals already arrested and jailed by other jurisdictions and provide transport to Kirkland.
  • Takes information regarding citizen complaints and completes appropriate incident and follow-up reports. Process and complete police reports, as required, in person or telephonically.
  • Maintains all booking photos.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Keeps the booking and cell area clean and supplied with necessary forms, inmate supplies, and equipment within the jail area.
  • Conducts regular maintenance inspections of Corrections vehicles and ensures that necessary equipment is in each vehicle. Completes a written record of all inspections.
  • Provides traffic control, upon request, to assist the Patrol and Traffic Divisions when authorized by the Lieutenant, in support of special events.

We are currently seeking dedicated professionals to work in our Phoenix, AZ office, located at 1 Norterra Dr, Phoenix, AZ 85085  as an Associate Auto Claims Adjuster. Your work will focus on adjusting non-injury auto claims and you'll work under supervision to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and adjust low complexity auto insurance claims presented by or against our members. This will include the end-to-end claims process and settling claims in compliance with state laws and regulations.   • Collaborate and set expectations with external and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution.

The Opportunity

The Associate Life Solutions Specialist helps to ensure the financial security of our membership by assessing member life insurance needs, providing advice and / or referrals for advice, and making the appropriate recommendations based on members’ individual needs and goals. May provide support to Health Solutions acquisition and retention based on member demand.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 5 days per week, with the opportunity to move to a hybrid schedule after 6 months. This position will be based at the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Colorado Springs, CO Campus. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Receives request for advice from current and prospective members through various channels, including inbound and outbound phone calls, emails, faxes and video telephony. Special Acquisitions Team employees will primarily place outbound calls triggered from underwriting work items. Life Regulatory team employees respond to specific regulatory/business needs as directed by policies and procedures.

  • Asks questions to discover key information, including life events, and to understand member needs. Documents relevant information. Life Regulatory team employees ask specific questions, often scripted, as needed to complete regulatory requirements and document relevant information.

  • Assesses member financial situation and goals. Life Regulatory will refer members to Life Sales representative for advice and recommendations.

  • Develops and communicates appropriate life insurance strategies based on individual member needs. Provides basic protection advice and strategies. Life Regulatory will refer members to Life Sales representative for advice and recommendations.

  • Recommends relevant life insurance product and solutions and refers members who may need financial advice to the respective department. Life Regulatory will refer members to Life Sales representative for advice and recommendations.

  • Motivates member to take action on recommendation(s) and resolves objections using basic sales techniques and developing persuasion skills. Implements recommendation(s).

  • Monitors legislative initiatives that may impact economy, society, and personal financial situation.

  • Educates membership on implications of economic, industry trends, and tax law changes, as well as USAA's products and services.

  • May conduct outbound follow-up calls to complete member acquisition of products and services previously discussed.

Work Hours:

  • Monday – Friday / 7:30am – 8:00pm (Central)

  • An 8 hour shift will fall within these hours

  • This role is required to be in office, with potential hybrid opportunity after 6 months.

What you have:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Required maintenance of Life/Health license and/or acquisition within 90 days

  • Required annual completion of AHIP and Broker/Carrier appointments when applicable.

  • Up to 1 year of financial industry and/or life sales experience

  • Experience delivering frequent written and oral communication

  • Experience acquiring and applying new concepts and information

  • Experience processing and analyzing information

  • Experience fulfilling requests and meeting deadlines

  • Experience resolving conflict and negotiating

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $45,470.00 - $79,110.00.

It is all about learning and growing. Our Associate Auto Adjuster role may be a new career for you. There’s a lot to learn, but the pathway is mapped out and USAA is willing to invest in you! Our comprehensive, fully paid four-month training program includes all training materials, licensing costs, class discussions, hands-on training, e-learning modules, and the instructor led guidance will help you to support our members independently. We have new training classes starting every month.

Our in-office development program provides the training you need and the encouragement to create a proactive and independent support style to service our membership. After six months in-office, you’ll have the opportunity to work offsite 2 days a week. Military veterans and spouses are highly encouraged to apply. We are currently seeking dedicated professionals to work in our Chesapeake, VA office, located at 1341 Crossway Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23320  as an Associate Auto Adjuster . Your work will focus on adjusting non-injury auto claims and you'll work under supervision to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and adjust low complexity auto insurance claims presented by or against our members. This will include the end-to-end claims process and settling claims in compliance with state laws and regulations. In this role, you will make a difference to our members as you deliver best in class customer service through setting appropriate expectations, proactively communicating and providing advice to deliver appropriate solutions to the member.

What you'll do:

  • Acquire and apply basic knowledge of auto coverages. auto physical damage, and liability, in order to evaluate and settle high volume and low complexity auto claims such as; simple comprehensive and collision (i.e., single vehicle, parked and unoccupied, clear liability), glass, roadside, and rental vehicle coverages for repairable vehicles.
