Sr. Project Manager – Data Centers (Central U.S. | Owner’s Rep)

We’re partnering with a 100% data center-focused platform seeking a Senior Project Manager to act as the Owner’s Representative across multiple projects in the Central U.S.

This is not a GC role.

This is leadership on behalf of the owner - driving schedule, cost, quality, and accountability from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.

What You’ll Lead

• Oversight of multiple concurrent data center builds (ground-up + upgrades)
• Direct interface with ownership and executive stakeholders
• GC and engineering firm oversight across all phases
• Executive-level reporting on schedule, risk, constraints, and budget
• Change order management and financial risk mitigation
• Cross-functional coordination (design, commissioning, controls, security, operations)
• Constructability review of electrical & mechanical systems
• Collaboration with commissioning teams to ensure performance prior to turnover

You’ll be the bridge between field execution and ownership expectations.

The Role We Want You For

The Director of Construction is responsible for serving as the main point of contact overseeing the execution of ground-up student housing developments from preconstruction through closeout and stabilization handoff. The Director of Construction will run the owner/architect/contractor meetings, provide answers on behalf of ownership and keep the project team on task including pay application reviews, change order reviews, RFIs and submittals. This role oversees budgets, schedules, contracting strategy, quality, safety, and project controls across a portfolio of active projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery aligned with the company’s design standards, brand, and operational requirements for student move-in.

This leader coordinates internal stakeholders (Development, Design, Finance, Asset Management, Operations/Property Management, Leasing/Marketing) and external partners (GCs, architects, engineers, consultants, municipalities, utilities) to de-risk delivery and drive predictable outcomes.

The Specifics of the Role

• Partner with Development and Design to translate underwriting assumptions into executable construction plans, budgets, and schedules.
• Lead GC/CM selection strategy (RFPs, interviews, scope leveling, bid analysis, buyout approach, qualifications).
• Develop and validate GMPs, construction schedules, logistics plans, and phasing strategies tailored to student housing turnover requirements.
• Manage constructability, value engineering, and scope alignment with brand standards and operational needs (durability, unit turns, amenity performance, life-safety, access control).
• Identify long-lead items and procurement risks early; drive early releases and supply chain strategies.
• Direct all construction activity across assigned projects, typically via third-party GCs/CMs, ensuring compliance with contract documents and company standards.
• Own project controls: schedule adherence, cost forecasting, change management, contingency governance, pay apps, and monthly reporting.
• Lead OAC cadence and executive-level project reviews; escalate risks with clear mitigation plans.
• Review and approve change orders, RFI impacts, submittals (as appropriate), and claims strategy in collaboration with Legal/Finance.
• Maintain strong field presence during critical phases (sitework, structure, enclosure, MEP rough-in, interior build, commissioning, punch, turnover).
• Establish project budgets and cost codes aligned with the company’s reporting standards; manage cash flow and forecast accuracy.
• Implement rigorous change control, ensuring scope clarity and protecting underwriting.
• Proactively manage entitlement/utility/municipal risks with Development and project teams.
• Coordinate insurance, bonding, safety compliance expectations, and risk transfer provisions.
• Enforce quality assurance processes: mockups, benchmarks, inspections, and punchlist discipline.
• Ensure all projects adhere to life-safety, accessibility, and code requirements; support commissioning and systems training.
• Champion jobsite safety culture and performance expectations with GC partners.
• Lead turnover strategy designed around student move-in deadlines (tight punch windows, phased turnover, furniture/FF&E coordination if applicable).
• Coordinate commissioning, inspections, CO/TCO, life-safety certifications, access control integration, and as-builts/O&M delivery.
• Drive closeout completion: warranty tracking, lien waivers, final accounting, and lessons learned.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers / Owners Reps (as applicable).
• Build a high-performing vendor network (GCs, MEP subs, consultants) and maintain preferred partner relationships.
• Standardize best practices, reporting templates, and construction playbooks across the portfolio.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business, Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
• 4–8+ years of experience in real estate development, preferably with student housing or multifamily projects
• Proven experience managing ground-up development projects exceeding $50MM+ in total cost
• Strong understanding of zoning, entitlements, construction processes, and design, development and finance
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and real estate financial modeling
• Excellent project management, communication, and negotiation skills

Primary Purpose of Position

Responsible for the direction, assignment, and coordination of Turbine Floor Outage Execution to support safe, reliable, and efficient outage activities consistent with Constellation and Clean Energy Center (CEC) goals. Enforce at all times procedure use and adherence, Human Performance (HU) fundamentals, Technical Human Performance (THU) techniques, and provide coaching and mentoring as necessary to achieve continuous improvement.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities

• Effectively direct turbine floor personnel to assure all assigned maintenance activities are performed safely and effectively, by qualified workers, and in accordance with procedures and schedules.
• Participate in various aspects of work control coordination, scheduling, and engineering meetings involving online and refuel outage activities, to ensure that work is properly assigned, planned and ready to execute.
• Effectively communicate and address CEC and personnel issues to the appropriate levels of Outage Services & Alliances (OS&A) and CEC management. Foster open communications and collaboration between all organizations internal and external to OS&A.
• Oversee project activities of multidisciplinary team regarding turbine generator disassembly and reassembly, coordination of turbine deck lay-down, mobilization of equipment and tooling as well as interfacing with management and specific contract personnel. Satisfy contractual obligations, meet project milestones, and optimize short-term and long-term company profit by effectively managing and facilitating resources.
• Understand, support, and administer all OS&A processes, such as the training program, surveillance program, procedure revisions, and Corrective Action Program (CAP) to ensure effective work practices. Identify and support improvement opportunities and development, implementation, and performance monitoring of all Business Goals and objectives.

The Role We Want You For

LJC is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of life sciences manufacturing facilities across a range of therapeutic and production modalities. This role focuses on defining process requirements, equipment needs, and operational workflows that inform facility planning and engineering design for regulated manufacturing environments.

The Process Engineer works closely with clients, process architects, utilities engineers, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to translate manufacturing processes into clear, coordinated design solutions. While experience across multiple modalities is valued, candidates with deep expertise in a specific modality are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Specifics of the Role

• Lead or support process definition and design efforts for life sciences manufacturing facilities from early planning through construction support.
• Define process flows, unit operations, equipment requirements, and space needs to support regulated manufacturing operations.
• Develop process narratives, block flow diagrams, and equipment layouts that inform architectural and engineering design.
• Collaborate with clients to understand manufacturing objectives, capacity requirements, product mix, and operational constraints.
• Work closely with process architects and project teams to translate process requirements into compliant, efficient, and flexible facility layouts.
• Coordinate with critical utilities, mechanical, electrical, automation, and architectural teams to align process needs with supporting systems and infrastructure.
• Support front-end project efforts by contributing to proposals, technical narratives, and early planning concepts.
• Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, and planning sessions related to process definition, capacity planning, and operational strategy.
• Support compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including GMP/GxP expectations and relevant industry guidelines.
• Review process-related design deliverables to ensure alignment with defined process requirements and overall project objectives.
• Participate in multidisciplinary coordination reviews to resolve process-related design challenges.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, manufacturing platforms, and best practices across life sciences modalities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in life sciences manufacturing process engineering within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or advanced therapy environments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting at least one major life sciences manufacturing modality, such as:
• Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs)
• Fill–finish (aseptic or non-aseptic)
• Advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs), including cell and gene therapies
• mRNA
• Vaccines
• Active pharmaceutical ingredients (API)
• Oral solid dosage (OSD)
• Exposure to additional modalities, platforms, or production technologies is preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of regulated manufacturing processes, unit operations, and equipment typical of life sciences facilities.
• Experience translating process requirements into facility design inputs, equipment layouts, and engineering criteria.
• Familiarity with GMP/GxP environments and regulatory expectations.
• Experience working in a design-build or fast-track project delivery environment preferred.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage in client-facing technical discussions and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, architectural, and construction teams.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred but not required.

• The salary range for this position considers a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: Education, qualifications, skills, training, experience, certifications, internal equity, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The Clayco Nationwide salary range for this position is approximately $135,000 - $185,000 +/- annually (not adjusted for location).
