Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.S. or equivalent).

Main Responsibilities

1. Technical Services and Emergency Support

Qualifications and Requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to plant electrician staff primarily focused on the installation and repair of electrical controls, automation, motors & starters, lighting, and power distribution on 110V-220V-480V-13,800V systems.
• Manage and expand the application of Predictive Maintenance technologies across the plant to drive improved plant reliability.
• Provide direct supervision to approximately 15 skilled crafts with varying trade skills.
• Provide indirect supervision, technical and safety guidance to 30 plant electricians.

Compensation and Benefits

• The expected compensation range for this position is between $73,400 - $122,850.

• Inspect electrical construction work associated with aeronautical lighting systems, 5kV systems, electrical substations/regulators, high-tension systems, Fiber Optic communication infrastructure, fire alarm systems, and other electrical-based work.

The Campus Engineering team exists to provide support to all aspects of design, construction, operation, and maintenance of campus facilities. Campus facilities include not only the buildings which are occupied by our students, faculty and staff, but it also includes central campus utility plants and the associated utility systems, including chilled water, steam, power, and natural gas

During the design process, first, our Team creates and maintains the design standards for building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, power distribution, and lighting. These standards are used by us, and by our outside consultants, to guide the design efforts of new buildings and renovation projects. Our team is also responsible for reviewing the design documents created by the consultants to ensure that their designs comply with standards.

During construction projects, our Team is often called upon to provide advice related to unforeseen conditions which are discovered during demolition work. We often provide a second review of material and equipment submittals, as well as shop drawings. On most campus construction projects, the day-to-day interaction with the contractor is managed by our co-workers within one of the Construction teams. However, on a few projects we may be called on to manage those day-to-day contractor activities.

Post construction, and throughout the life of the facilities, our team serves to provide advice to our Operation & Maintenance teams, and our Utilities Maintenance team, when a problem grows larger than their capacity. • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on various systems to minimize breakdowns and repairs.

Job Description:

The Sr Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and testing electrical designs for specialized equipment. This position has comprehensive knowledge of equipment, business and customer requirements that drive the design of the technical solutions and participates in all phases of product development lifecycle, including the analysis, design and equipment construction, and installation support of designed equipment and confers with other engineering staff for programming and site startup support.

This is an on-site position in the Cincinnati, Ohio, Blue Ash area.

Responsibilities

• Designs and conducts research to evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications.
• Assists field engineers with installation of designed systems and verifies proper build of designed systems.
• Develops electrical products that conform to standards and customer requirements, researches and tests manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
• Prepares technical drawings and specifications for electrical control panels.
• Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components.
• Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational, safety, or environmental standards.
• Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Resolves required changes, and support solution to complete designed equipment during installation.
• Maintains product database by writing computer programs.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 – 8 years previous professional electrical engineering experience
• Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
• High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
• Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
