Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Location: Concord Mills Area (North Charlotte) (In-Office)
Firm: Karney Clayton Law Firm
Salary: $75,000 β $85,000 + Year-End Bonus
Caseload: 20-30 Cases
About Karney ClaytonKarney Clayton is a trial-focused personal injury law firm dedicated to helping injured motorcyclists rebuild their lives after serious crashes. This is not a factory firm. We DON'T do high-volume/low-value cases. Our cases matter, and the work we do truly helps our clients and their families. We take pride in preparing every case as if it will go to trial and building a team of professionals who are committed to excellence, accountability, and results.
We are looking for an experienced Litigation Paralegal who understands the difference between pre-litigation case management and real litigation work. If your experience is primarily demand letters and settlement negotiations, this role likely is not the right fit. We need someone who has actually worked litigation files and can step in and contribute immediately.
Position OverviewThis is a full-time, in-office position in our Charlotte office. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative, stays organized, and works well with others.
You will play a key role in preparing cases for litigation and trial. We are looking for someone who is comfortable owning their responsibilities and who takes pride in doing high-quality work.
Your caseload will be manageable. Probably around 15-20 active litigation files, with a handful of other cases preparing to be filed. We can mix in a few pre-litigation cases if needed.
Key Responsibilities- Draft and file litigation documents including complaints, motions, discovery, and subpoenas
- Manage litigation deadlines and court calendars
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests (interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission)
- Organize and maintain litigation files and evidence
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial logistics
- Assist attorneys with case strategy and trial preparation
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel
- Prepare exhibits, deposition summaries, and trial binders
- 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience (personal injury preferred)
- Demonstrated experience handling active litigation files
- Experience with discovery drafting and responses
- Experience with court filings and litigation deadlines
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to take ownership of tasks and follow through
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work with others
We are specifically seeking candidates with true litigation experience. Many PI paralegals have experience only in pre-litigation case management, which is very different from handling litigation files. Candidates should be comfortable discussing their hands-on litigation responsibilities during the interview process.
Compensation & Benefits- Salary: $75,000 β $85,000 depending on experience
- Year-End Performance Bonus
- Health Insurance
- 401(k) with Employer Match
- Generous Paid Time Off (PTO)
You may apply through LinkedIn and/or submit your resume and a brief cover email to (short and to the point, no fluff please) explaining your litigation experience and why you want to join us. Those who email me will get my attention first.
Final NoteWe are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a team that takes cases seriously and fights for injured riders.

Β· We represent companies in public accommodation litigation, including class actions, regulatory investigations, and individual proceedings in courts and arbitral forums.
Β· Our litigators work extensively in employment law matters, including defending wage and hour class action and harassment and discrimination matters.
Central to our litigation philosophy is the view that the objectives of our clients vary, and that our success turns on our ability to tailor our approach to meet each client's unique objectives.

For this position, key job responsibilities include the following:
Β· Preparing pleadings, briefs, and other papers for filing with courts and arbitrators.
Β· Conducting legal research and analysis on a broad range of issues.

We seek candidates who enjoy working as part of a team with smart, supportive, and enthusiastic colleagues.
β Lead With Curiosity and Analyze with Care. No one has all the answers. Our most successful colleagues actively participate in mentorship opportunities, and demonstrate vulnerability in asking questions and learning new things. They love to brainstorm with their colleagues, and comfortably admit when they don't have all the answers. And when confronted with new issues, they are willing to dive into primary and secondary sources in order to analyze those issues thoroughly.
β Desire to Be of Service to Others. We are passionate about solving problems for our clients, and seek candidates who find professional fulfillment in helping clients and colleagues address difficult legal issues.

About Folger Levin
Located in San Francisco, Folger Levin is a boutique, full-service firm. We are known for delivering sophisticated legal services of the highest quality in an environment marked by a commitment to enhancing the personal and professional fulfillment of our colleagues.
When this firm was founded, we agreed to serve as stewards of the firm for future generations and aspired to create relationships marked by trust, collaboration, open communication, respect, and an understanding that our joint responsibility for the firm is a source of excitement and pride. That goal continues to shape our approach to client relationships, hiring, and professional development.
We have structured our firm to align our interests with those of our clients, and to create an environment in which attorneys and staff can establish long-term, satisfying, and fulfilling careers. By way of example, we recognize that the common law firm practice of imposing minimum billable hour requirements can create incentives that do not serve the interests of our attorneys, or of our clients. Because service is about quality, not quantity, we do not impose a billable-hour target. Our focus is on devoting as much time as is necessary β no more, no less β to deliver excellent client service, while having the capacity to devote time to learning, growth (professional development), and community service.
We also know that we develop deeper relationships with each other and with clients when we have limited turnover. Every time we hire a new attorney, it is with the hope that this new member of our team will become a partner in the firm. This sets us apart from some firms whose business model depends on a large number of associates and fewer partners. Our focus on long-term relationships directly impacts the quality of the associate experience, as we are motivated to assign interesting work, provide hands-on mentoring, help associates develop direct client relationships, offer a realistic path to partnership, and avoid associate burnout.
Mentorship
We are committed to providing active mentoring, and thereby help talented professionals develop into superb attorneys. Our associates work closely with partners in small teams, affording associates the opportunity to have significant input into strategy and decision-making. Associates can expect to receive detailed and constructive feedback from experienced attorneys on their research and analysis, writing, strategic decision-making, and oral and written communication skills. Such feedback helps associates develop their own authentic, effective approach to advising clients.
Our firm also believes in the value of cross-disciplinary mentoring. So, in addition to working with partners in the Litigation Practice Group, associates can expect to develop relationships with partners from our other departments. For example, in handling employment disputes, our litigation attorney work closely with partners in our labor and employment. Similarly, our litigation attorneys frequently consult with members of the Estate Planning Practice Group on trust litigation matters.

Position description
Berkeley Law is generating an applicant pool of qualified instructors should openings arise.
Berkeley Law is one of the premier law schools in the United States. Our programs are demanding, engaging, hands-on, and selective. As with all our faculty, we expect our lecturers to demonstrate a strong commitment to academic rigor and intellectual diversity.
Berkeley Law strives to educate responsible, effective, and forward-thinking advocates who serve the public through legal practice, public policy, academic scholarship, and related fields. In doing so, the school addresses some of society's most pressing challenges by leveraging its strengths in teaching and research to improve law, policy, and public institutions. At the heart of Berkeley Law's public mission is a commitment to access, affordability, and empowering students from all backgrounds to pursue impactful careers across a wide range of professional paths.
The J.D. and LL.M. programs host a diverse and constantly evolving curriculum. Hundreds of courses are offered, including dozens in our top-ranked Law and Technology, Business Law, International Law, Environmental Law, and Social Justice programs.
This pool encompasses courses in litigation and transactional lawyering skills, including negotiation, pre-trial practice, civil trial practice, criminal trial practice, appellate advocacy, legal writing, drafting, legal research, alternative dispute resolution, oral advocacy, mediation, and other related professional practice education. These courses are taught experientially, using extensive simulation, video, and other "learning by doing" pedagogies.
Instructors for lecture courses are appointed in the Lecturer title; instructors for experiential center courses are appointed to the Field Work Supervisor title. The applicant selected will have important teaching responsibilities, including preparing course materials (such as the syllabus) and maintaining a course website, and will also be expected to hold office hours, assess and offer feedback on student work, assign grades, and advise students.
UC Lecturers and Field Work Supervisors are academic appointees in an organized bargaining unit and are exclusively represented by the American Federation of Teachers - Unit 18.
