Position Summary:

We are seeking a Paralegal – Litigation & Regulatory Affairs to join a leading financial services organization supporting the housing finance industry across the United States. This role will support in-house legal counsel with civil litigation matters, regulatory inquiries, legal operations, and process improvement initiatives in a fast-paced corporate legal environment.

Essential Duties:

• Support in-house counsel with civil litigation and regulatory matters.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and internal teams on active legal matters.
• Assist with subpoena responses, regulatory inquiries, and document requests.
• Draft matter summaries and conduct legal and factual research.
• Manage document preservation notices and related tracking processes.
• Maintain legal databases, matter management platforms, and eBilling systems.
• Generate reports, analytics, and documentation for legal leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of recent paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
• Experience supporting complex civil litigation and regulatory investigations.
• Experience responding to subpoenas, discovery requests, and document production demands.
• Strong understanding of litigation processes from discovery through trial.

Skills and Job-Specific Competencies:

Salary Range: SolomonEdwards values your unique and individual experience and background. As such, we take a comprehensive approach when determining compensation for our roles. A reasonable estimate for the current hourly rate for this role is $45.

Mayo Clinic's Division of General Internal Medicine in Rochester is one of the largest academic general internal medicine divisions in the world - serving as the gateway in evaluating and caring for adult patients that may have unexplained symptoms and/or complex medical conditions. Consultative Medicine Clinic (a section of GIM) provides consultative medical care to patients that reside outside of Olmsted county in Minnesota. Consultative Medicine sees new patients to Mayo Clinic for an initial comprehensive evaluation. The LPN role in Consultative Medicine includes, but is not limited to, patient visits (face to face and via telephone) review of patient health history, medication review, immunization administration, focused nutrition assessments, and blood pressure visits. Telehealth interactions may include collecting pertinent information prior to their arrival to the clinic, researching prescription discrepancies, and/or facilitating prior authorization denials. Principal duties and responsibilities:

Perform remote billing and coding audits to ensure client coding practices are compliant with regulations and coverage policies for both government and commercial payers.

Researching state and payer regulations to identify areas of risk in a variety of healthcare settings and specialties, coordinating with various team members to ensure clear expectations are communicated and deadlines are met.

Qualifications:

CPC/CCS-P with a minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare coding/auditing (E&M, CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10), with knowledge of professional billing, coding, and documentation practices performed by physicians and other qualified healthcare providers in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Proficiency in evaluating how well clinical documentation supports medical necessity and the E/M, CPT, and HCPCS codes that were billed, across a wide range of services. The focus will be in the primary care sector (fee-for-service and risk-based), though experience in specialties such as dermatology, vascular, podiatry, wound care, home health, and personal care is preferred. Behavioral health experience is also a plus.

Solid understanding of both federal and state coding and documentation laws and regulations, applicable fraud statutes and regulations, and of federal guidelines on recoupments and other anti-FWA activity. Identify and access risk of repayment or recoupment in the event of payor scrutiny.

Familiarity with both UB-04 and CMS 1500 claims data, as well as understanding of payor remittances.

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology necessary to appropriately review assignment and documentation of diagnosis codes.

Solid working knowledge of various EHR/EMR systems; experience accessing these remotely.
