The Avionics Hardware team is a small group of highly motivated engineers who develop the core compute, actuation, sensing, and power electronics products at the heart of our automation system. We enjoy cradle-to-grave hardware ownership and hands-on test, iteration, and deployment of our designs. As an Avionics Hardware Engineer, you will drive development of electrical components and sub-systems across our airborne and test platforms from the circuit-board level up through integrated systems and everything in between.

Responsibilities

In your role as Avionics Hardware Engineer, you will design, analyze, document, test, and troubleshoot electronic assemblies at the circuit board through integrated electro-mechanical level. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing and test engineers as the expert on your hardware. You will drive improvements to the hardware through benchtop, environmental, and on-aircraft testing, and perform root-cause investigations to characterize, document, and rectify anomalous behavior in a safety-critical environment.

Basic Success Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated ability to complete and ship projects and deliverables

  • Professional experience with ECAD tools such as Altium

  • Ability to work within a team, including strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to methodically diagnose, document, and solve electronic hardware problems

Preferred Criteria

  • Professional experience with the full electronics product life-cycle, from conceptual design through production

  • Direct hands-on experience with analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design, analysis, test, and debug

  • Experience designing electronics to meet rigorous environmental standards (aerospace, military, automotive, or harsh industrial)

The estimated salary range for this position is $110,000 to $168,000/annual salary + cash and stock option awards + benefits. Salary range:
The compensation model varies depending upon the course delivery format. For a synchronous Classroom (In-Person) or Live Online course, a reasonable estimate for this position is $2,750 - $6,800 total per course. For an asynchronous Start Anytime Online course, this position is paid $180 - $200 per final student course grade submitted each month; a reasonable estimate ranges from $900 - $20,000 total per course; and monthly payments typically begin within 6 months after the course start date. General Duties

The department seeks candidates who can support the success of all students through inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy. As a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Modeling and Simulation Engineer, you will develop the physics-based models that enable rapid iteration and certification-grade validation of GNC software. You will perform simulation analysis and assess correlation with real-world data to demonstrate that the models are representative of the actual system.

Responsibilities

  • Develop physics-based models representative of aircraft dynamics (aerodynamics, ground reactions, actuator models, etc.)

  • Identify, request, and analyze flight tests necessary to inform modeling

  • Conduct closed-loop testing of flight control systems with simulated aircraft dynamics

  • Develop tools for visualizing and analyzing simulation and flight data

  • Perform validation of simulation models against flight test data

Basic Success Criteria

  • BS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or related field

  • 5+ years experience with aerodynamics, flight dynamics simulation, and system identification

  • Experience with Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and Linux-based development environments and scripting

Position description

The Department of Architecture at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified lecturers and lecturers in lieu of GSIs to teach non-studio courses in the following areas: Architectural History and Theory, Building Science, Structures, and Construction, should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester (fall, spring, and summer), depending upon the needs of the Architecture department.



General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using Cal's electronic resources for course management.

Job Summary

The Contracting Officer-Sponsored Programs role will review, process, approve, negotiate, and administer assigned sponsored proposals and awards, which may include governmental, industry, non-U.S. and/or not-for-profit funding of grants, contracts, and other sponsored agreements and donations in
the support of research. Provide services and guidance to faculty and research staff. Review, analyze, and interpret new awards terms and conditions.



Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Analyze solicitations and review proposals to ensure proposals are complete and compliant with Institute policies, agency regulations, and solicitation requirements. Review sign any required Institute Representations and Certifications.

Job Duty 2 -
Identify proposal risks and review mitigation strategies with management. Submit all assigned, approved, compliant proposals prior to deadlines.

Job Duty 3 -
Review and interpret sponsored agreement language. Resolve contractual issues, negotiating contract changes, and executing agreements on behalf of the Institute's research corporations with an approved corporation officer.

Job Duty 4 -
Provide Post award administration. Monitor administration of awarded sponsored projects and serve as contact for all business/contractual matters throughout life cycle of sponsored program awards. Resolve issues brought forward by researchers and unit administrators. Prepare business correspondence and notices required by award terms.

Job Duty 5 -
Maintain current working knowledge of applicable federal regulations, state laws, Institute policies, and sponsor requirements.

Job Duty 6 -
Advise faculty, project directors and financial and administrative staff on proposal submission process, post award administration, regulatory compliance requirements and Institute policy, coordinating with other units supporting research including Conflict of Interest, Research Integrity Assurance, Research Security, Export Control, Corporate Engagement, Technology Licensing, and the Georgia Tech Office of Legal Affairs.

The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida, College of Medicine (UCF COM) is seeking exceptional candidates for two full-time faculty positions within the Department of Medicine's Aerospace Medicine program at the assistant, associate or professor of medicine rank. These positions are available in either the tenure or non-tenure track. Candidates will contribute to the academic missions of education, research, and clinical services.

The successful candidates will engage in teaching activities across undergraduate and graduate programs, including the development of new courses, and collaboration with interdisciplinary faculty. In addition, they will actively contribute to research endeavors and secure extramural funding to support innovative aerospace medicine initiatives. The chosen candidates will be tasked to:


  • Expand the UCF COM aerospace medicine research program, with a focus on hypothesis-driven investigator-initiated externally funded studies. This will be facilitated by a robust human research team and extensive logistic administrative support.


  • Another aim is collaborative research and technology development with our faculty colleagues in the College of Optics and Photonics (e.g., for laser devices) and the College of Engineering and Computer Science, among the 12 other colleges.


  • Support the development of a new Aerospace and Extreme Environments Medical Systems Integration and Rapid Prototyping Laboratory.


  • Design, develop, and conduct experiments in the domain of aerospace medicine and extreme medicine, facilitated by the use of the Aerospace and Extreme Environments Medical Systems Integration and Rapid Prototyping Laboratory and other UCF resources such as a newly established biobank for aerospace medicine and extreme environments.


  • Support the development and operation of undergraduate and graduate training programs in aerospace medicine and extreme environments.

The Opportunity

As a national and world leader in space, aerospace, and hypersonics, the University of Central Florida (UCF) has established a center of excellence on this topic and is working to strengthen its research and education mission in this area.

As a part of this broad, university-wide strategic plan, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applicants for multiple 9-month, full-time faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor (tenure-earning), or associate professor (tenured). Candidates with a strong background in hypersonics and space systems are highly encouraged to apply. Technical fields of interest include, but are not limited to:

All these companies share the same talent pools available in this region. UCF's Orlando location also puts it at the center of the Florida High Tech Corridor. The corridor has an excellent industrial base that includes software, defense, space, simulation and training, and a world-renowned entertainment industry. Adjacent to UCF is a thriving research park that conducts over $2 billion in funded research, hosting more than 100 high-tech companies and UCF's School of Modeling, Simulation, and Training. In response to this unique locational opportunity, The Center for Advanced Turbomachinery and Energy Research (CATER) was founded to focus on student training and research on turbomachinery and associated energy systems for application in power generation, aviation, and space propulsion. CATER has 9 core faculty members at present, with a staff of 5 research faculty, 15 postdoctoral researchers, and 97 doctoral students. It collectively secured $20.3M of new external funding in FY 24-25 and graduates 13 doctoral students per year on average.

The successful candidates would be part of the UCF HYPERSPACE Center ( ), a Center of Excellence (COE) for Hypersonics and Space Propulsion at the University of Central Florida. The motivation of the center is Speed and Space with the goal of achieving ultra-high-speed flight through our atmosphere, and efficient planetary entry and exit, making space exploration and intercontinental travel as routine as intercity travel is today. The center is a national and world leading center in hypersonic and space propulsion, modeling, aerodynamics, laser diagnostics/sensors, extreme environment materials, and additive/advanced manufacturing with Government and Industry funding. Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in an area appropriate to Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Applied Mathematics at the time of appointment. Preferred Qualifications:

The Sustainable Environmental Design major recognizes that the emergent, multidisciplinary field of sustainability science is growing rapidly. As the world population urbanizes, the planning and design of resilient, resource-efficient, healthy and socially just cities and metropolitan regions is profoundly important. The Master of Urban Design degree program is a one-year, advanced, interdisciplinary program of study for students with a prior professional degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or city and regional planning. The program's goals are to further train designers who are able to work effectively in teams across a large range of scales and who have a well-developed understanding of urban places and the interdependencies of the fabric of buildings, landscapes, public ways, and the social interactions that shape them.

The College of Computing (CoC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) invites applications and nominations for two inaugural Krishna A. Bharat Professorships in Computational Journalism, at its campus in Atlanta, Georgia. The Bharat Professorships will further research and innovation that focuses on information access in the public sphere, exploring responsible, civic-minded approaches to computational journalism and civic technologies broadly. The chair is endowed by Krishna Bharat, a Georgia Tech doctoral alumnus in computer science and the founder of Google News.

The scope of this search is not limited to journalism as conventionally defined. It may include candidates whose backgrounds span a variety of fields that inform civic life - including communication, public policy, political science, statistics, and law - who have the ability to teach and mentor a student body and to promote an inclusive and welcoming educational and work environment. Salary range:
The compensation model varies depending upon the course delivery format. For a synchronous Live Online course, a reasonable estimate for this position is $1,425 - $5,700 total per course. For an asynchronous Fixed Date Online course, this position is paid $170 - $180 per enrolled student and a reasonable estimate ranges from $1,020 - $7,200 total per course. General Duties

The department seeks candidates who can support the success of all students through inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy. Specific duties and expectations will vary depending on the method of instruction including: Synchronous Live Online (Zoom) or Asynchronous Online (Fixed Date or Start Anytime).




  • For synchronous instruction (live online courses), duties include but are not limited to: syllabus development; assignment development; lesson planning for class meetings; preparing and submitting required texts and course materials; reviewing and updating Canvas course site; and delivering lectures, presentations, and learning activities for all required hours of instruction.
  • For asynchronous instruction (fixed date or start anytime online courses), duties include but are not limited to: reviewing the syllabus and pre-populated online course content; learning and utilizing Canvas classroom management tools; and requesting any training needs from the Program Director or Department Director.
  • For all instruction (regardless of course format) duties include but are not limited to: completing required trainings as mandated by the UC Presidential policies; responding to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner; grading student assignments and posting final student grades to the instructor portal in a timely manner; utilizing University-approved course support platforms including the Canvas Learning Management System, Zoom, Instructor Portal, Google Workspace, etc.; reviewing and following University and departmental policies, logistics, and other guidelines as published on the departmental Instructional Resource Site; and responding to other requests from the Program Director or Department Director in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and drive implementation of corrective actions for non-conformances Create process plans, standard operating procedures, Bill of Materials (BOM), and rework instructions for all manufacturing items within your ownership Conduct reviews of drawings, standards, and other releasable documents Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of wire harnesses and provide feedback on design improvements Work within cross-functional teams including quality engineering, manufacturing operations, and supply chain to bring products from new product introduction (NPI) to full-scale production Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline 3 years working in a harness/cable assembly environment Familiarity with IPC-WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4, and IPC J-STD-001 Technical problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis complete with sound engineering based corrective actions Experience with MES, MRP, and ERP systems Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 5 years of experience in a harness manufacturing and design (electrical & integration) environment Experience in a high-rate manufacturing environment Strong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness acceptance testing Writing test scripts, experience with Cirris CH2 and Weetech testers Competency using 3D CAD modeling and PDM software (Solidworks, etc) Exposure to harness design software (Capital, Zuken, etc) Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies Conflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process Drug Free Workplace: Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company, is a Drug Free Workplace (DFW) where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.
