Responsibilities Include:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Sets up automatic spring coiling machines to fabricate compression, extension, and torsion springs from steel wire, according to blueprints and setup charts. Required to review and interpret blueprints to determine best setup procedures on coiling equipment. Knowledge of tooling setup and auxiliary machine attachments is required, Review of prior setup details from setup chart maintenance is required. Selects machine attachments, such as taper cams, wire size block, coiling point, pitch tool, and cutting tool, according to blueprint or setup chart, and installs them on the machine. The Spring Coiler must be able to record all setup procedures to utilize for future reference.
Verifies material diameter with micrometer caliper and is capable of loading wire onto the payoff reel and run material through the rollers and machine guides. Capable of setting up cams, turnbuckle, and pitch tool to control spring dimensions. May be required to make tool attachment adjustments, such as coiling point, cams, forming tools, and cut-off tools if stock tooling is not available to ensure proper spring configuration is met per the blueprint. Prepare a trial run and validate samples to ensure parts conform to blueprint specifications. Must be able to communicate with the quality team and adhere to quality standards set forth by company SOPβs and quality standards.
Adjust equipment to attain specified tolerance and release the SPRING COILER to initiate production with written and oral instructions.
