The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans and provides occupational therapy treatment programs for patients whose injury or disease interferes with daily functioning. Provide skilled intervention using varieties of techniques that are appropriate to achieve identified goals, restore function or prevent disability. The Licensed Practical Nurse can perform tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding, health coaching, and supportive care under the direction of the registered professional nurse or licensed physician or licensed health care provider. Nursing shall be performed in accordance with the standards outlined for Licensed Practical Nurse in the NYS Education Law, NYS Office of the Professions, and by the State Nurse Practice Act. Under the general direction of the Sleep Disorders Center Technical Director, conducts studies and safe monitoring of clinical patients. Clinical patients vary in age from adolescence to geriatric and evaluations can be for any of 150 different sleep/wake disorders. Most commonly, technologists encounter sleep apnea, narcolepsy, night terrors, nocturnal myoclonus and clinical insomnia.
