Key Responsibilities:

Technical

  • Provide pricing support to the Cyber & Executive Risks underwriting teams at Beazley; pricing support includes (as required):
  • Developing pricing tools that support the estimation of price adequacy and rate change
  • Performing portfolio and transactional pricing analyses
  • Performing segmental and trend analyses
  • Performance monitoring (e.g. rate change and price adequacy metrics)
  • Develop, maintain and review pricing models to the required standards
  • Contribute effectively to the production of the relevant reports required for any key committees where required.
  • Provide training to underwriters in pricing; this includes technical pricing and rate change requirements
  • Understand and support the underwriting controls related to pricing and relevant regulatory principles
  • Understand and apply the pricing quality assurance process
  • Assist in other projects undertaken by the actuarial team e.g. liability transfer valuations and business planning analyses

As the pricing lead for Pella, this role will own the pricing strategy across an expansive product portfolio for all segments and define cross-company initiatives that align profit margins and revenue growth to the company’s strategic plan.

  • Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this role is $130,000 -$140,000 + commission. This is a full-time, exempt position. This range represents the low and high ends of the expected base salary range for this role based on the applicable location. The Opportunity

This posting is for multiple P&C Actuarial Analyst positions on the pricing, indications, and forecasting teams. These roles require experienced analysts to independently apply actuarial methods for accurate pricing and process improvement, mentor colleagues, provide strategic insights, and manage business risks in compliance with internal risk management policies.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. Experienced analyst responsible for independently applying actuarial methodologies to complete structured projects and serves as a technical subject matter expert on assigned tasks.

What you'll do:

  • Independently applies actuarial methodologies to complete structured projects (e.g.)

  • Builds tools to test and implement new methodologies that improve accuracy of actuarial analysis; utilizes model results to select new variables and refresh existing variables in a rating algorithm; analyzes results from multiple methodologies to propose reserve selections and documenting rationale).

  • Identifies andΒ  improves existing processes utilizing actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques.

  • Proactively resolves technical issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of related actuarial/business/analyticalΒ experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 2 years of actuarial or analytical business experience.

  • 3 Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams.

  • Experience with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques and approaches used to support fact-based decision-making.

  • Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in Python, R, SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods and ability to connect technical insights to business problems.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $77,120 - $138,810.

International Trade & Supply Chain Financial Analysis:

  • Analyze financial impacts of international sourcing decisions across China, India, Pakistan, and Turkey considering tariffs, duties, and trade restrictions
  • Evaluate landed cost components including freight costs, customs fees, currency fluctuations, and total supply chain costs Assess VAT, tax, and tariff implications on product pricing and overall business profitability
  • Support real estate and facility decisions with financial analysis including lease vs. buy evaluations and expansion ROI modeling


Strategic Financial Partnership:

  • Serve as trusted financial advisor to CFO/CEO on complex business questions requiring analytical problem-solving
  • Present financial analysis and strategic recommendations to executive leadership with clear, actionable insights
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, inventory, procurement, marketing, and finance teams
  • Translate complex financial data into business insights that drive strategic decision-making


Qualifications & Experience:

Required Experience:

  • 7-10 years of progressive financial analysis experience with demonstrated expertise in FP&A, cost analysis, and pricing strategy
  • Strong background in retail, manufacturing, ecommerce, or consumer products with complex cost structures and multi-channel operations
  • Proven experience building and maintaining cash flow forecasting models and working capital management
  • Experience analyzing profitability across multiple channels, platforms, or business units with detailed cost allocation
  • Background in international business, supply chain finance, or import/export cost analysis preferred
  • Track record of translating financial analysis into actionable business recommendations for executive leadership


Technical Skills - Must Have:

  • Expert-level Excel proficiency including advanced formulas, pivot tables, complex financial modeling, macros, and scenario analysis
  • Advanced Power BI skills for dashboard creation, data visualization, and executive reporting SQL proficiency for data extraction, manipulation, and complex financial reporting
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities for forecasting, budgeting, scenario planning, and ROI analysis
  • Experience with data analytics platforms and ability to work with large datasets across multiple systems

Financial & Business Acumen:

  • Deep understanding of P&L management, margin analysis, and cost accounting principles Knowledge of cash flow management, working capital optimization, and liquidity planning Understanding of ecommerce marketplace dynamics including platform fee structures and channel profitability

The Role:

The Estimator is responsible for the coordination of all project budgeting, including preparing quantity surveys, obtaining subcontractor pricing, reviewing historical cost data and ensuring compliance with scope of work, as well as offering construction feasibility and value engineering counsel. The Estimator must stay abreast of industry materials and labor pricing trends and developments to deliver accurate and timely estimates for preconstruction, hard bids, negotiated bids, value engineering, general conditions and systems studies and comparisons. The Estimator also provides administrative support to the Chief Estimator, engages in consistent communications with trade partners, maintains up-to-date records of bids, and manages the prequalification process for the hiring of trade partners.


Responsibilities:

Unit Cost Pricing:

  • Clearly understand the complexity of the scope of work as shown on the construction documents
  • Prepare detailed take offs of materials
  • Prepare detailed labor estimates utilizing man-hours, crews and equipment
  • Organize the material and labor information for pricing
  • Solicit material prices from suppliers
  • Obtain current labor rates
  • Prepare unit prices by "Building the Project in your Head."
  • Verify and compare your unit prices or the price of a system with a subcontractor and previous similar estimates
  • Understand the influence of market conditions on pricing

Subcontractor Solicitation & Selection:

  • Prepare subcontractor list from S4 program, or manually
  • Prepare Bid Invitations
  • Prepare subcontractor bid packages including transmittals, drawings and specifications
  • Follow up with subs regarding bidding and update the subcontractor list
  • Prepare scope sheets for subcontractors, and review scope of work

Subcontractor Relationships & Feedback:

  • Keep Subcontractors up to date with project information and addenda during the bidding process
  • Answer subcontractor questions
  • Prepare RFI's to the design team

Preconstruction Abilities:

  • Assist the Senior Estimator with quantity take offs and subcontractor solicitation
  • Prepare document lists and correspondence during pre-construction

Conceptual Estimating:

  • Assist the Senior Estimator by preparing take off quantities of areas and counts of items

Hard Bid and Design Build Estimating:

  • Procure drawings and specifications from architect or owner
  • Date stamp all drawings and spec books
  • Confirm SCCI is listed in all publications
  • Confirm with architect/owner that all construction documents have been received and send documents to printer
  • Put construction documents in plan room
  • Create bid binder or bid box. Take off of items to be priced by SCCI. We should attempt to do a complete Control Estimate
  • Attend site visits
  • Read all assigned plans and specs completely
  • Call to confirm local building permit rates
  • Call the architect the day before the bid and confirm all addenda and supplemental information has been received
  • Assist in the creation of bid packages for the subs

Turn Over Meetings:

  • Assist the Senior Estimator in compiling the Turn Over Meeting package
  • Attend the Turn Over Meeting

Exhibit B's & Scope Sheets:

  • Assist the Senior Estimator with Exhibit B and scope sheet preparation

Quality Control of Departments Bids and Estimates:

  • Prepare thorough scope of work spreadsheets. Always try to prepare a thorough control estimate for every trade you are responsible for. Meet deadlines and allow time for review of your work with the Senior or Chief Estimator

Bid Day Activities:

  • Develop a "Plug" number for your trade using the most up to date information available the night before the bid
  • Complete the scope of work/pricing spread sheets ASAP
  • Follow up with subcontractors for any missing information
  • Review all pricing and subcontractor information with the Senior and Chief Estimator

Post Bid Activities:

  • Attend any review meetings with the Senior or Lead Estimator. If called to the table or awarded the bid, review the estimate and discuss strategy with the team for any holes, value management, or potential profit pockets
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and report on status of assignments
  • Attend Training classes as required


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
  • 3-6 years of experience in Estimating, or equivalent
  • Quantity Surveys, Take off skills, Computer skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel spread sheets, and Word processing programs.
  • Ability to take off material quantities from a set of SD, DD & CD documents and present information that is organized, thought out and easy to follow
  • Understanding of Construction Documents
  • Knowledge of the contents of each CSI section
  • Ability to read & interpret blue prints in order to understand the scope of work at SD, DD and CD phases of design
  • Ability to coordinate construction document plans, details and specifications
