Overview:

  • Assists in orthopedic surgeries and procedures, managing pre- and post-operative care, monitor patient progress, and manage complications as necessary. Primary role is in the operating room assisting in surgeries with multiple different surgeons across joint replacements, sports medicine, and upper extremity cases

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

The Institute for Digestive Health and Liver Disease (IDHLD) is seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant to join its Inpatient Gastroenterology service. The program encompasses all areas of gastroenterology, including General GI, Hepatology, IBD, Motility, Pancreas, and Therapeutic Endoscopy, offering a broad and diverse clinical experience. In this collaborative role, the Physician Assistant works closely with attending physicians, endoscopy teams, and a multidisciplinary GI staff to provide high-quality inpatient care. The position is structured for an eventual transition to outpatient gastroenterology, where the Physician Assistant will have the opportunity to run independent clinics while continuing to work with a collaborating physician. This is a unique opportunity to gain extensive exposure to inpatient GI, providing a strong foundation that will serve exceptionally well in an eventual outpatient role.


  • Provide comprehensive care to inpatient GI patients, including assessment, management, and follow-up
  • Collaborate with attending physicians to evaluate and manage urgent cases, including coordinating with endoscopy services
  • Respond to consults from other hospital services

Qualifications:

The Opportunity

The Physician Assistant will provide advanced primary care to patients in our facility under the mentorship of a Supervising Physician. The Opportunity

The Nurse Practitioner is primarily responsible for providing medical care within Sound Family Medicine locations. In this role, you will be responsible for exercising considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge in managing patient problems within established policies and practices. Scheduling Requirements:

Essential Functions:

  • Assists physician by recording patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders, and transcribes orders
  • Assists with various counseling and education functions
  • Billing for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations
  • Demonstrates satisfactory knowledge and judgment to provide appropriate care for patients
  • Develops plan of care for patients in coordination with multidisciplinary team and completes appropriate reports to physicians and family
  • Documents and maintains patient records of services provided according to facility and nursing standards
  • Establishes a collaborative relationship with other medical providers
  • Examines patients to determine presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, medical history, ascertains nature and extent of illness and prescribes treatments as indicated
  • Interviews, instructs and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention
  • Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions
  • Issues prescriptions to patients based on Federal & State Regulations
  • Orders and reviews appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures
  • Reviews all lab data and documents
  • Participates in the development of protocols
  • Performs and obtains a completed medical history and physical data on patients with appropriate documentation and findings
  • Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
  • Responsible for coordinating nursing and training programs on compliant for policies such as HIPPA, OSHA, Code of Conduct

The Opportunity

The Physician Assistant will provide advanced primary care to patients in our facility under the mentorship of a Supervising Physician.
