Job Description: Works under the supervision of the Director, Assistant Director or Shift Supervisor.

Performs specialized Patient Registration functions according to established policies and procedures.

Interviews patient or patient representative to obtain pertinent information such as patient demographics and financial data and enters the information into the computer system to register inpatient and/or outpatients.

The amount of data collected will vary based on the patient classification.

Prepares, processes and routes initial paperwork for charts, patient identification bands, labels and cards.

When appropriate contacts physicians’ offices for authorization numbers for treatment.

Obtains required signatures and collects copy of insurance cards, Medicare cards, and Medi-Cal cards.

Reviews patient data for accuracy.

When applicable, monitors and processes transfers and bed swaps and enters required information into the computer system.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to following Federal and State regulations as they apply to Advance Directives for Healthcare Decisions.

Duties: Greets patients, their families, and the public in a courteous, professional and polite manner.

Registration clerks must demonstrate sensitivity to the fact that the patient may not be feeling well, is worried or stressed regarding hospital visit.

Properly identifies patient by requesting form of picture identification.

Interviews patient or patient’s representative to obtain accurate demographic information.

Enters demographic information into the hospital computer system in order for patient care and treatment to be initiated.

Obtains patient financial data and when required preauthorization for treatment.

Prepares, processes and routes required paperwork for the patient’s chart/medical record.

Creates patient labels as appropriate.

Bands patient with the appropriate ID band.

Determines patient’s primary and secondary payor and enters data in computer system Required Qualification: High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED.

Iowa: Effective July 1, 2010, all pharmacy techs working in Iowa pharmacies must be nationally certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Vehicles: May transport individuals into the community; drives safely and according to local laws; ensures proper use of safety equipment including seat belts, lifts and wheelchair ties; reports accidents to appropriate authorities immediately; reports accidents and safety concerns immediately to supervisor or maintenance personnel.
  2. Housekeeping: Performs daily and seasonal housekeeping as directed; maintains neat, clean and safe environment; reports hazards or safety concerns.
  3. Maintenance and Repair: Monitors environmental safety and may make minor repairs, change light bulbs, etc.; may perform yard maintenance including keeping walkways safe and snow removal; reports equipment or facilities requiring repairs to supervisor or maintenance personnel as required.
  4. Safety: Checks water temperature as required when assisting with bathing; participates in safety drills and protects persons being served in the event of emergency.

Education and Experience:

  • Maintain valid driver’s license, meet all insurance requirements, and be approved by management to be a driver for the company. If an employee is determined to have lost their driving privileges by failing the company MVR driving record requirements per company policy, the employee will be required to sign a Non-Driver form and restricted from driving on behalf of the company until their MVR report satisfies the company requirements for a good driving record.

Summary:

Responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. Responsibilities:
