Senior Research Analyst & Derivatives Trader
Position Overview
The Senior Research Analyst & Derivatives Trader is responsible for providing tanker market intelligence about the executing derivatives strategies that support the company's (tanker owner and operator) freight, fuel, and commodity risk management objectives.
This role combines in-depth market research with active trading responsibilities, helping the company manage exposure to freight rate fluctuations, bunker fuel costs, and broader commodity market volatility. The position supports commercial decision-making across the tanker fleet by translating market insights into practical hedging and trading strategies.
The role will also contribute to the continued development of the company's internal derivatives trading capability, supporting disciplined risk management and improved earnings stability.
Key Responsibilities
Market Research & Intelligence
- Conduct detailed research and analysis of tanker freight markets, vessel supply and demand, oil and refined product trade flows, bunker fuel markets, and relevant macroeconomic trends.
- Develop forward-looking market views, forecasts, and scenario analysis to support commercial strategy and fleet deployment decisions.
- Maintain and enhance internal market databases, financial models, and analytical dashboards tracking freight rates, time charter equivalents (TCE), fuel exposure, and market volatility.
- Prepare research reports, market updates, and executive briefings for senior commercial leadership.
Derivatives Trading & Risk Management
- Execute and manage freight derivatives, fuel hedging instruments, and related commodity derivatives within the company's approved risk management framework.
- Design and recommend hedging strategies to manage exposure to freight rate movements, bunker costs, and earnings volatility.
- Monitor trading positions, profit and loss (P&L), margin requirements, and counterparty exposure.
- Ensure accurate trade capture, reporting, and compliance with internal controls and trading policies.
Trade Execution & Market Relationships
- Work closely with brokers, exchanges, clearing houses, and trading counterparties to ensure efficient trade execution and settlement.
- Support the development and implementation of trading policies, risk limits, and internal controls as the company expands its derivatives trading capabilities.
Commercial & Strategic Support
- Collaborate with Asset Management and Commercial teams to align trading strategies with fleet deployment, chartering activity, and portfolio optimization.
- Provide market insights to support strategic initiatives, including new market opportunities, energy transition considerations, and investment analysis.
- Partner with Strategy, Finance, Legal, and Risk teams to ensure compliance with internal governance and external regulatory requirements.

Includes all processes from container setup through release of goods and delivery to Distribution Centers.
Audit charges for services including brokerage, storage, ocean freight and inland freight and create service PO's for those charges in SAP.
Answer questions and resolve issues involving all areas of imports supply chain process from customs brokers, ocean carriers, inland carriers and internal employees.
Run various reports to analyze broker, trucker and ocean carrier performance.
Audit service provider statements to ensure all invoices are posted into A/P system.
Audit duty charges and prepare daily detail report of US Customs ACH charges for month end journal entry processing.

Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the coordination of efforts between all railroad and transload operations. This position will directly supervise all departments on the railroad and transload including but not limited to trainmasters, supervisors, and hourly team members in the departments of transload operations, locomotive, car repair and maintenance of way. - Prepare and conduct performance appraisals for all managers and personnel reporting to them directly and approve all performance appraisals prepared by managers and supervisors prior to review with the personnel reporting to them, to ensure equality and effectiveness.

Requirements and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or minimum five (5) years relevant job-related experience.
- The General Manager shall have at least three (3) years of freight rail experience (within the last ten (10) years) as a senior operating officer in a comparable operating environment.
- The General Manager shall have at least two (2) years’ experiences in senior management of a freight rail operating environment that includes coordinating shipments with or through Class I operations and/or managing freight operations with large volumes of freight traffic

The Import Operations Customer Service Representative is a global operations support role responsible for managing both ocean and air import activities within the freight forwarding industry. Working closely with the Import Supervisor, this position provides day-to-day operational support for Navia’s client base. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processing International Air and Sea shipments via Cargowise, including opening files, issuing documents, forwarding customs documentation, tracking and tracing, notations, and billing.
- Ensure documentation (Pre-Alert,PL,CI,A/N,etc) is accurately processed and released to carrier, broker, governmental agencies (FDA, USDA, DOT, etc.), agents, and customers in a timely manner.
- Destination delivery management from the release of goods at the terminal/CFS to the client’s door.
- Participating in required cross-training and backup coverage support necessary to maintain excellent customer service and continuity during peak volume periods.
- Follows key account SOPs and procedures as directed by sales and key account management.
- Any other duties as directed by management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 1-3 years of working knowledge of international transportation and logistics (ocean/air/drayage/LTL).

Scope:
The Logistics Analyst plays a critical role in optimizing freight movement to achieve 100% on-time delivery while minimizing costs. This position serves as the primary point of contact for shipment status, proactively manages and optimizes the carrier base (performance, relationship and reliability), handles routing of customer freight, and delivers actionable insights through advanced Excel analytics and Microsoft Power BI reporting. Strong emphasis is placed on E2Open TMS proficiency, data-driven decision making, and continuous process improvement.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Shipment Tracking, Tendering & Routing
- Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in E2Open Transportation Management System (formerly BluJay) to plan, tender, track, and optimize shipments.
- Proactively monitor customer orders and route collect/vendor shipments to ensure optimal carrier selection, cost efficiency, and on-time performance.
- Manage suspected late shipments, expedite as needed, and communicate directly with carriers and Customer Service to protect delivery dates and adjust appointments/POs.
- Obtain competitive quotes, tender shipments, and ensure all deliveries fall within the Must-Arrive-By-Date (MABD) window.
- Communicate customer policies (appointment requirements, etc.) and forecasted demand to carriers to secure capacity.
- Review shipping requirements for new customers and approve expedited/detention charges.
- File freight claims and complete new carrier onboarding documentation as required.
Carrier Performance & Relationship Management
- Maintain carrier scorecards, tracking key metrics including on-time delivery (OTD), tender acceptance rates, damage/shortage frequency, invoice accuracy, and capacity reliability.
- Analyze carrier performance data to identify underperformers, top performers, and opportunities for network optimization (e.g., lane consolidation, preferred carrier programs).
- Develop and present carrier performance reports/dashboards (in Power BI/Excel) to support quarterly business reviews and strategic sourcing decisions.
- Identify trends in carrier spend, service levels, and market conditions to recommend additions, removals, or renegotiations within the carrier base.
Customer Service & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Customer Service on order delays and proactively extend POs or modify appointments before orders become late.
- Reconcile freight-related short pays with Accounts Payable and resolve invoice discrepancies with Accounts Receivable.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations on freight analysis, cost modeling, and customer-specific routing strategies.
Analytics, Reporting and Process Improvement
- Build and maintain dynamic reports using data from E2Open TMS in various platforms: advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, macros, data modeling), and Microsoft Power BI.
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, process roadblocks, and scalability improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data-backed recommendations.
Additional Support
- Coordinate daily customer orders with Warehouse Operations.
- Manage and maintain the internal shuttle fleet schedule and activities.
- Support special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Analytics, or related field.
- 2+ years of logistics experience, including hands-on work with a Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills – expert in data analysis, modeling, pivot tables, lookups, and automation.
