Job Description:
Job Title: Automotive Training and Development Consultant
Duration: 06 Months
Location: Dallas, Tx
This position is responsible for analysis, research, development and delivery of manufacturing processes and technical launch training with on-site support to OEM vehicle assembly plants in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Roles and responsibilities include:
• Provide on-site training and support at each of the OEM vehicle assembly plants
• Instruct and consult plant process and repair personnel to improve their understanding of the vehicle and its highly intricate and interconnected systems and subsystems
• Present and demonstrate efficient and effective methods of diagnosing and correcting vehicle assembly, vehicle electrical systems and sub-system deficiencies
• Conduct root cause analysis to accurately identify the cause(s) of assembly and vehicle deficiencies
• Act as the training liaison between product/manufacturing engineering and general assembly by creating, designing and developing training materials related to vehicle assembly process, electrical harness manufacture, vehicle electrical system architectures and schematics
• Communicate and share lessons learned, developed training materials and information gathered in support of one plant project with remaining plants on a timely basis
• Analyze and identify future training needs for each of the OEM vehicle assembly plants
• Support and participate in plant launch meetings and provide training reports to Raytheon management, the OEM management and OEM launch teams
• Interface with engineering, component suppliers and vendors to validate and develop training materials for the manufacturing process, vehicle and vehicle electrical sub-systems prior to the Start of Regular Production (SORP)
• Research and compile manufacturing processes and technical information to be included in training course materials, such as, but not limited to engineering schematics, work in process service information, engineering documents, engineering math data and manufacturing reports
Required Skills:
• Minimum four years of experience as an automotive instructional designer, training developer, automotive instructor and/or manufacturing instructor
• Demonstrated knowledge of automotive systems from an advanced diagnostics perspective
• Demonstrated knowledge of OEM manufacturing tracking and reporting systems
• Demonstrated knowledge of OEM manufacturing dynamic vehicle testing systems
• Ability to develop professional training materials using pre-launch documents
• Ability to read and interpret a digital multimeter, OEM diagnostic scan tool and other automotive related diagnostic test equipment
• Ability to effectively conduct one-on-one and group presentations Ability to interpret early engineering level electrical schematic diagrams
• Ability to read OEM supplier electrical harness prints
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Extensive travel flexibility. Upward of 75% travel, depending upon launch
• Ability to work independently without supervision
• ASE certifications
• Demonstrated presentation skills delivering process and technical training
• Automotive technical assistance center experience
Required Education:
• Associate's degree or Certificate in Automotive Technology, engineering or other related discipline
• High school diploma with eight years of experience as an automotive instructional designer, training developer, automotive instructor and/or manufacturing instructor may be considered in lieu of an associate’s degree
Work Environment:
• Work is performed in both classroom and plant settings. Working in plant areas may involve exposure to various automotive fumes, fluids, noise, smells, sharp edges and bump hazards that require continuous use of personal protective equipment, i.e., safety glasses, gloves, and head protection
• Classroom work may involve standing, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use
• Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects
• Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 35 pounds on a regular basis such as automotive components and equipment, as well as papers, files, boxes, computers, etc. Less frequent requirements for moving materials weighing over 35 pounds do exist with the assistance of lifting and moving equipment, i.e., hoists and lift tables
• Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 70% of the work period while working in the plant areas as well as operating equipment such as computer keyboard, monitor, projector, calculator, printer, and standard office equipment
The hourly rate for this position is $22.50 per hour.
The hours for this shift are 10:30 pm - 6:30 am.
Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you'll do:
The Assembly position is responsible for performing a variety of diversified sub and light to heavy duty assembly operations on our switchgear product line. In this role, you will perform some complicated sub-assembly to final assembly operations, which contain a large number of parts and substantial fitting and aligning of components, utilizing bill of materials and prints as necessary - on a repetitive basis.

In this function you will:
Follow established working procedures.
Set-up workstation to facilitate easier assembly and operate independently or on a group basis.
Complete paperwork, enter labor, confirm production and move products to outgoing materials zone.
Screen defective parts or make adjustments as necessary and report out any concerns to Team Leader or Supervisor.
Interact with other departments as needed for advice and decisions.
Assist QA/Engineering with problem solving for new product development as necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 6 months of previous manufacturing, military, or related experience

Supervise/perform restoration services as a result of damage caused by water, fire, or smoke and supervise/perform other specialty services as required that equal or exceed company and customer quality standards. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Drive a company vehicle to locations designated by customers. Load and unload equipment and supplies from the vehicle to the work site. Clear the work site by moving furniture and equipment and restore the work site to the original configuration when the job is complete.
- Supervise/perform restoration that involves specialized cleaning and repair of carpeting, upholstery and drapery. Clean, dry and deodorize floors, ceiling and drywall. Access all areas and surfaces that need to be cleaned, dried and deodorized. Apply Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registered and approved disinfectant as required.
- Establish and maintain a service schedule to ensure all service is delivered to meet customer requirements.
- Follow all EPA and other applicable federal, state and local regulations for disposal of wastewater and chemicals.
- Comply with all verbal and written safety practices including the use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Read and comprehend all applicable MSDSs for chemicals that require special handling and use of PPE.
- Manage or perform the maintenance of all assigned vehicles and equipment to company published standards, making recommendations for new equipment as needed. Track and inventory all assigned equipment.
- Solicit current customers for leads to develop leads for new customers.
- Meet with homeowner and adjuster of insurance company, explain and attain all necessary documentation for access to the jobsite, write an agreed upon estimate and oversee the job to completion. Do final walk through with customer to verify that all expectations have been met.
- Communicate with customer about scope of work, timeline of work, progress updates and planned completion dates. Explain the \"Upgrade/Change Order\" process to customers including the selection process, expected timeline of payment and the effects of the timeline of the project.
- Provide Office Manager with invoicing information and amounts for completed jobs.
- Recruit and hire any qualified, properly insured sub-contractors necessary for completing the job, oversee daily routine of sub-contractors, and verify they can support issued workload.
- Create a complete schedule of the workflow at the onset of the job containing a projected completion date. Maintain a material/supply list.
- Ensure Purchase Orders are assigned in an effort to control the costs of the job and maintain profitability.
- Inspect the jobsites frequently to verify the scope of work is being performed correctly, that it meets the projected timeline and that it complies with Rainbow International standards.
- Work with Third Party Administrator programs by keeping current on requirements and technical updates for each individual program.
- Work with management to develop a business plan, including both short- and long-term goals, to generate prospective customers to meet the projected sales goals.
- Meet with management to review job progress and profitability, payment schedule and completion dates per company policy.
- Perform other duties as required. These duties may include job functions that are outside the scope of normal job duties.
Supervisory responsibilities
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training and supervising restoration employees; planning, assigning and direction work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Other qualifications
Must be computer literate with proficiency in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and other computer software. Experience in Xactware is helpful, but not mandatory. Must also have a functional understanding of handheld smart devices and an aptitude for learning new technology and software easily.
Education and/or experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, licenses & registrations
Must have and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license. Must have or be willing to obtain the applicable certifications pertaining to the industry.
Physical demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to adverse weather conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. May also involve confined spaces that one must crawl through. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
