What You'll Do: As a Physical Damage Appraiser, you will be responsible for facilitating an efficient settlement of material damage claims by determining the fair market value to repair damaged motor vehicles, campers, motorcycles, trailers, and boats utilizing CCC estimating and valuation software.

This will include examining damaged vehicles that could be located at numerous locations, such as tow yards, collision centers and customer's residence or workplace.

You will be responsible for ensuring effective departmental operations by maintaining a positive relationship with local collision centers, salvage yards, and car dealers.

Other duties will include reviewing our Preferred Auto Repair Shop (PARS) estimates and completing PARS re-inspections as needed, and ensuring that all estimates are computer audited to reach an agreed price with our customer's shop of choice.

In addition, you will assist in ensuring efficient operations during natural disasters by resolving claims during storms.

Must reside in the South Central Kansas area.

What It Takes to Join Our Team: Two-year Auto Body degree plus at least two years auto body experience is preferred.

Must be able to fully appraise all aspects of vehicle damage.

Strong computer skills are required in order to quickly learn our multiple systems.

Some travel is required (occasionally some overnight stays) A valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records are required.

Must be able to work under all kinds of weather conditions and must be able to climb a ladder to inspect recreational vehicles.

Must keep current with existing and pending claims precedents and legislation.

Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) exams 30, 39, and 40 is required within two years.

Vehicle Performance Simulation & Analysis Responsibilities

  • Predictive vehicle performance simulation and analysis for racing car configurations using Driver‑in‑the‑Loop (DIL) and other advanced simulation technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

At time of application you must be 21 years of age; a US citizen or a lawful permanent resident, must not have any felony convictions as an adult and have vision correctable to 20/20 in each eye. Must possess the ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Must have the physical capability to successfully meet the Criminal Justice Training Commission Fitness Ability Test Battery. Must have successfully completed an accredited Police Basic Training Academy curriculum with less than 12 months of service as a sworn municipal, county or state officer. Out of state laterals must complete the State Equivalency Academy. At time of hiring applicant must have a valid Washington State Drivers' License.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

The working environment is characterized by the potential for physical, verbal and psychological assault by prisoners or individuals suspected of crime. Dependent on assignment and task, the work period may be eight to twelve hours a day. Other physical activities include, but are not limited to, operating a patrol vehicle, walking, running, or sitting at a workstation performing administrative tasks. The scope of work performed has the potential for other physical or cardiovascular exertion in the performance of duties. Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions and adverse conditions. Assignments may include but are not limited to Patrol, Investigations, Traffic, Training, Neighborhood Resource Officer, School Resource Officer, Pro-Act Unit, and K-9 after at least 12 months in patrol.

Collateral duty assignments available to commissioned officers are: Special Response Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Firearms Training Unit, Less Lethal Training Unit, Defensive Tactics, Bicycle Patrol, and Foot Patrol.

Hours of Work

Must be available to work 8 or 10 hour rotating shifts.

Patrol Officers work four 10 hour shifts, followed by three days off. Officers work Monday - Thursday or Thursday - Sunday. Available shifts are days, swing, and nights, and are bid by seniority.

Team Overview: The Cross Functional Store Manager in Training will work closely with the Location General Manager and other business managers to ensure the effective execution of CarMax policies and procedures. This role is integral in developing a team of cross-functional associates to deliver exceptional customer experiences and achieve store performance metrics.



Role Responsibilities:



· Strategizes to achieve store’s budgets and performance metrics based on corporate business assumptions and LGM prescribed guidelines.



· Proactively plans for the daily business based on volume and staffing. Executes plans to ensure associates have the tools and training required to deliver a simple and seamless process to the customer tailored to their needs.



· Analyzes and presents store business results and reports them to the Location General Manager and supporting business managers as needed.



· Actively monitors and adjusts staffing levels based on business needs and staffing model.



· Opens and closes the store per schedule. Provides management coverage for the entire store.



· Responsible for managing all aspects of key CarMax Business areas and operating procedures through execution of Area of Responsibility (AOR) duties, leading cross-functional teams and problem-solving opportunities.



· Manages positive associate relations and associate development and role models successful behaviors to drive performance through timely and effective feedback including, but not limited to: Individual meetings, file reviews, performance management, and the Annual Performance Review (APR) process.



· Resolves associate issues in a timely manner and takes appropriate partners.



· Interviews, hires, trains, and promotes associates to support store operations and company growth.



· Leads training and development activities across business areas, including sales, service operations, merchandising, and business operations, to positively impact the customer experience, maximize execution, and minimize risk.



· Partners with and develops associates to resolve customer issues.



· Obtains and responds to customer feedback by directly interacting with customers, internal staff, written surveys as needed.



· Partners with appropriate departments and regional team members as needed.



· Ensures team adheres to asset protection and risk management processes and procedures. Researches and approves transactions that are identified as exceptions to normal business conditions.



· Executes AOR responsibilities according to company guidelines and checklists.



· Manages cash and other payment procedures and paperwork processes associated with the sale, wholesale, service, and purchase of vehicles.

Benefits:


Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.


Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:

  • To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
  • For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.


Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
