Overview:

The Nurse Tech role is designed for current nursing students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing. As a Nurse Tech, you will have the opportunity to work closely with Mercy nurses to gain real life experience on a hospital unit while still in nursing school!

Job Duties:

• Obtain vital signs and document into the electronic medical records system
• Assist with patient care needs including, meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, patient mobility, and transport.

Qualifications:

Prior to employment, the Nurse Tech shall provide student transcripts indicating

they have completed Fundamentals of Nursing from an accredited school of nursing

and provide competency skills list from their learning institution.

The Nurse Tech must remain in good standing with their school of nursing while in

this role. This program is for nursing students only, if a student leaves a program for

any reason, they can no longer be a nurse tech.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within one month of hire.

Warehouse Returns: You will be operating material handling equipment to move product within the warehouse.  You will be matching item quantities and descriptions to packing slips on returned items, checking in returned product and tagging it appropriate. Shipping: You’ll be responsible for organizing, stacking, and shrink-wrapping customer orders on pallets.  You’ll be loading trucks manually; lifting, lowering, and carrying product in a fast-paced environment and stacking empty pallets while maintaining a safe and clean workspace as you go.   

Please note, as an SC2 associate you may be moved into any of the above roles, or SC1 roles, as needed.

Who You Are

What qualifications you will need:

• Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If a compact license is held, an active FL RN license is required within 60 days of hire.

• Previous critical care and/or rapid response team experience in an acute care setting is strongly preferred.

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications are required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
• Current NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
