Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic's Division of General Internal Medicine in Rochester is one of the largest academic general internal medicine divisions in the world - serving as the gateway in evaluating and caring for adult patients that may have unexplained symptoms and/or complex medical conditions. Consultative Medicine Clinic (a section of GIM) provides consultative medical care to patients that reside outside of Olmsted county in Minnesota. Consultative Medicine sees new patients to Mayo Clinic for an initial comprehensive evaluation. The LPN role in Consultative Medicine includes, but is not limited to, patient visits (face to face and via telephone) review of patient health history, medication review, immunization administration, focused nutrition assessments, and blood pressure visits. Telehealth interactions may include collecting pertinent information prior to their arrival to the clinic, researching prescription discrepancies, and/or facilitating prior authorization denials. The LPN collaborates daily with physicians, nursing colleagues, and support staff.
The licensed practical nurse (LPN) provides nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor in meeting the needs of the patient/family. The LPN collects data through observation and communicates information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning. The LPN participates as a member of the health care team and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting needs of the patient/family. The LPN delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care. The LPN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and instructing; and may participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.
QualificationsGraduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program). If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.
One year LPN experience within the last five years preferred. Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work daytime hours, flexibility may be required to meet staffing needs. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing preferred. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the clinical and/or research settings. Able to work effectively with multiple members of the interdisciplinary care team. Demonstrates strong, effective and open communication skills to achieve mutual understanding and build trust and rapport with team members. This position is 70 percent clinical outpatient and 30 percent administrative.

- Contributes to creating, tracking, and updating annual goals and objectives for Correctional Services.
- Recruits, trains, inspires, directs, and assesses provider/physician teams to optimize individual and collective performance, delivering top-tier service to internal and external stakeholders. Functions as supervising physician and delegating prescriptive authority for advanced practice providers; consults for nursing leaders. Delivers and assesses medical training for residents, students, and advanced providers, adhering to guidelines for diagnosis, treatment, and service delivery. - Acts as a key connector between jail physicians and Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) system, Homeless Outreach Medical Services (HOMES) program, specialty clinics, emergency department, and inpatient units.
- Keeps current on relevant rules, regulations, policies, laws, and standards affecting Correctional Health. Creates robust internal controls to ensure compliance with state/federal laws, accreditation requirements, and health plan guidelines. Helps develop and roll out medical procedures for clinical teams; consults experts as needed for full compliance.
- Supports the creation and rollout of the Correctional Health orientation program, health education initiatives, and wellness programs.
- Supervises the Associate Director of Performance Improvement in managing the Correctional Health quality program. Reviews and refines job designs, processes, and workflows to boost effectiveness, output, and efficiency in line with departmental goals.
- Aids in physician recruitment efforts and spearheads retention strategies for Correctional Health providers.
- Remains current on medical advancements, trends, and innovations through seminars, workshops, journals, professional groups, and ongoing licensure. Applies new insights to daily practices.

- The schedule for the training period will be a set schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm EST time.
- Training will be 5-6 weeks. After training, the candidates may choose to flex start time of 6:00 AM EST to 10:00 AM EST.
- Candidates can work from 50 miles (or 1 hour) from any NGS or PulsePoint locations (EXCEPT the state of CA). These are not HYBRID requirements while working temp. JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is an entry level position in the Appeals Department that reviews, analyzes and processes non-complex pre-service and post service grievances and appeals requests from customer types (i.e. member, provider, regulatory and third party) and multiple products (Part A & B) related to clinical and non-clinical services, quality of service, and quality of care issues to include executive and regulatory grievances.
- The analyst may serve as a liaison between grievances & appeals and /or medical management, legal, and/or service operations and other internal departments.
- Requires a High school diploma or GED; up to 2 yearsβ experience working in grievances and appeals, claims, or customer service or any combination of education and/or experience which would provide an equivalent background.
- Familiarity with medical coding and medical terminology, demonstrated business writing proficiency, understanding of provider networks, the medical management process, claims process, all of the company's internal business processes, and internal local technology strongly preferred.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Reviews, analyzes and processes non-complex grievances and appeals in accordance with external accreditation and regulatory requirements, internal policies and claims events requiring adaptation of written response in clear, understandable language.
- Utilizes guidelines and review tools to conduct extensive research and analyze the grievance and appeal issue(s) and pertinent claims and medical records to either approve or summarize and route to nursing and/or medical staff for review.
- The grievance and appeal work is subject to applicable accreditation and regulatory standards and requirements.
- As such, the analyst will strictly follow department guidelines and tools to conduct their reviews. Analyzes and renders determinations on assigned non-complex grievance and appeal issues and completion of the respective written communication documents to convey the determination.
- Responsibilities exclude conducting any utilization or medical management review activities which require the interpretation of clinical information.

Job Description
Ensures accurate calibrations, cleaning and scheduled maintenance of clinical/lab equipment as required by OSHA, DHEC and UMA; tracked by documentation.
