SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs diagnostic radiology procedures to include common and special CT exams. CT exams use x-ray images and computer processing to generate pictures of tissue densities through the patient's body.
- Proactively assesses, identifies and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic or special procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
- Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members at an appropriate level utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills, terminology and language.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Uses ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to protect patients, staff and general public, and follows radiation safety standards. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with radiation safety and infection control procedures. Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.
- Reports “near misses” and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.
- Performs daily imaging equipment quality control (QC) ensuring all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate.

Job Summary:
The Emergency Department (ED) Tech Level I is a multi-skilled caregiver who functions under the direction of the professional Registered Nurse. Provides safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing the following patient care functions and technical procedures: vital signs, 12-lead EKG, bedside blood sugar testing, superficial wound care, oral suctioning, splint application, instruction of safe ambulation with crutches. Must understand and practice aseptic technique when required: urethral catheterization, sterile tray preparation, dressing applications and all phlebotomy. Must be able to operate and observe cardiac monitors to ensure recognition of arrhythmias (site specific Kennestone ED), as well as operate pulse oximetry monitors. Requires knowledge of all specialty instruments and trays, including trauma resuscitation equipment and set-up, ENT trays, special procedure trays. Transports patients, unit supplies, equipment, and patient medications. Assures patient care area is appropriately stocked with supplies. Monitor's patients in restraint/seclusion and documents observations. Performs other duties deemed necessary to ensure delivery of patient care.

Medication Distribution
* Single Dispense - must prepare medications and/or IV for dispensing, select correct medication, correct strength, and correct form. Fill, label, and initial medication bag for a pharmacist verification.
* Bulk Dispense- Must fill multiple patient specific medications in accordance with department procedure.
* Transportation- bulk fill, first dose, and missing doses will be delivered securely to the appropriate units, while practicing appropriate procedure to ensure confidentiality for all patients.
* Missing Doses- upon request, must properly generate label, fill and have checked by a pharmacist, then dispense to the appropriate floor or unit.
* Product Preparation- must properly prepare, measure, count, medications including compound ointments, creams, oral solutions, oral solids, IV, etc.
(ADC) Automatic Dispensing Cabinet
* User- must be capable of accurately adding new users to the ADC system.
* Product- must properly load ADC with correct medications after medication is checked by a pharmacist. Monitor par levels and increase or decrease as needed.
* Reports- must be able to generate needed reports to fill, track, and identify/report all discrepancies.
* Minor Maintenance- must trouble shoot minor problems with ADC.
* Restock- must accurately fill medication, fluids and stock outs as needed.
* Recall- must assist the pharmacist and inventory specialist in retrieving recalled medications.
* Controlled Substances- Must follow all policies, procedures, and applicable laws with controlled substance medications.
IV Admixture
* Aseptic technique- Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique including; proper hand washing and proper use of IV Room attire. Understand Joint Commission, hospital, and departmental policies and procedures. Must complete an aseptic technique competency to show compliance with USP standards, conducted by supervisor or Lead Pharmacy Technician.
* Small volume- Demonstrate knowledge of preparing small volume admixtures
* Specialty solutions- Demonstrate knowledge of preparing epidural, intrathecal, intravenous, intramuscular, sterile syringes and chemotherapy (when applicable)
* Syringes- Demonstrate knowledge of preparing neonatal syringes (when applicable)
* Large volume- Demonstrate knowledge of preparing large volume solutions
* Room cleaning - Demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures regarding maintaining clean room environment.
* Safety and Compliance Follows all safety and compliance standards for safely compounding medications. Always ensure that all requirements and procedures of United States Pharmacopeia are met.
Miscellaneous Activities:
* Repackaging and bar-coding medications- must accurately label all repackaged items per Georgia Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations.
* Properly provide customer service to customers and other healthcare professionals via in-person or virtual means.
* Process any charges: late charges, supplemental, OR charges, nuclear and exception report.
* Ordering supplies and obtaining purchase orders using the appropriate ordering system.

Role Purpose
Performs diagnostic imaging procedures in at least one advanced imaging modality (defined as Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Interventional, Mammography, Bone Density, Cardiac Catheterization) on adults and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment, and quality control.

Job Summary:
The Monitor Technician functions under the direction of the Nurse Manager to facilitate safe, age appropriate and culturally aware patient care by observing cardiac monitors to ensure recognition of arrhythmias. Cardiac monitor technicians are responsible for watching patients' heart rates and /or pulse oximetry and reporting important changes to the nursing staff; they often use equipment that tracks several patients simultaneously. They clean and maintain equipment and ensure batteries are charged and installed properly. Additional duties may include clerical and receptionist functions, retrieval of data, preparing and maintaining patient charts, verifying current telemetry orders in an accurate and timely manner, and serving as the pivotal communication source to the clinical staff.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Observes Telemetry Monitors
* Recognizes cardiac arrhythmias and reports promptly
* Records telemetry strips each shift and as changes or events are noted. Ensures 12 hour strips are printed and distributed to the units per policy
* Accurately interprets rhythms and measures intervals, able to identify age appropriate differences
Excellence in Customer Service by partnering with health care team, patient and family
* Protects rights and dignity of patient at all times
* Maintains confidentiality
* Answers telephone and call lights promptly and notifies appropriate individual of need for follow-up
* Resolves unit monitoring concerns
* Present self in positive and professional manner and show sensitivity to concerns and needs of others
Performs telemetry functions
* Accurately maintains required units dispensation records and monitor logs
* Ensures appropriate assignment of patient to telemetry unit and documentation of all equipment
* Prepares each telemetry unit for patient use; cleans each unit upon return
* Keeps necessary telemetry supplies available and organized
* Reports broken or defective equipment to immediately to Manager and Biomed
Team Work & Communication
* Supports initiatives of the health care team
* Participates in unit performance improvement initiatives
* Supports professional nursing practice through evidenced-based practice and ethical accountability
* Provides unit supplies, patient care supplies, and equipment as assigned
* Uses effective written and oral communication skills with physicians and healthcare team
* Uses safety communication techniques
* Communicates completion of assignment/duties
* Gives concise report of all patients monitored and status of equipment to oncoming shift
* Communicates patient safety concerns/problems/ emergencies to the RN
* Notifies the appropriate nursing unit promptly of rhythm changes. Communicates need for immediate response, if indicated
* Uses positive and respectful communication with all members of healthcare team, patients and families.
Safety and Infection Control
* Provides safe patient monitoring
* Follows all policies and procedures with regard to safety and emergency preparedness
* Cleans all equipment properly utilizing appropriate cleaning process per isolation guidelines
* Practice accountability

Required Minimum Education:

Med Tech / Certified Medication Aide
Sunday-Thursday 2pm-10pm
The Med Tech is responsible for monitoring the health and well being of our residents and provides leadership support and assistance with resident care and services. Responsibilities include but are not limited to medication care assistance/administration, communication with resident support services and families and maintaining clinical quality assurance while leading, demonstrating and supporting all the elements of wellness which are core components of Phoenix programs and services.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Med Tech / Certified Medication Aide
Resident Care
- Identifies on-going needs and services of residents through the assessment / Personalized Service Plan (PSP) process
- Ensures proper follow through and documentation for residents with a change in clinical care needs
- Supports the Wellness Nurse with Completing the clinical sections of monthly wellness visits and PSP to accurately reflect the resident on a monthly basis
- Informs the Wellness Director and/or Executive Director of any changes in medication or service level that may result in a higher tier level or potential move-out
- Assist with obtaining weights and vital signs monthly for each resident prior to completion of monthly wellness visit
- Assist with resident care as needed
Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE- CERTIFICATION
Med Tech / Certified Medication Aide
- Must be certified Medication Aide and/or meet the state requirements for medication aide
- A minimum of one year of experience working with elders or disabled individuals, preferred
- Must have demonstrated Leadership capabilities
- Knowledge and experience in Assisted Living industry and Dementia care or Skilled Nursing, preferred
- Ability to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours, available to our customers at peak service delivery days and times
