Previous oral surgery experience is a plus, but we are happy to train the right individual who has strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to patient safety, and a desire to grow clinically.
What You’ll Do
As a Surgical Assistant, you will support our surgeons through all phases of oral surgery care—preoperative preparation, chairside assistance during procedures, and postoperative support. You will help maintain sterile technique, manage instrumentation, monitor patient status, obtain radiographs, and accurately document clinical information.
Key responsibilities include:
Performing preoperative and postoperative duties to support patient care
Verifying patient identity and operative sites
Reviewing the planned surgical procedure with the surgeon
Maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures
Keeping the operative field visible using retractors, sponges, suction, and irrigation
Ensuring necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are available and prepared
Operating sterilization equipment and managing sterile/non‑sterile instruments
Monitoring patient status during procedures
Obtaining dental radiographs and imaging
Completing accurate and detailed clinical narratives
Performing other related duties as assigned
What You Bring
High school diploma or equivalent
BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire)
At least one year of related experience preferred
DAANCE certification preferred
Licensed dental assistant preferred
Radiology certification preferred
Basic computer skills
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Strong teamwork and ability to work independently
Good judgment and critical‑thinking ability
Passion for patient safety and maintaining aseptic standards
Excellent manual dexterity
