Under general supervision of the Engineering Director/Manager, the job of the Hydraulic Design Engineer is responsible for design efforts from inception through production in new product development or existing product design.

The Hydraulic Design Engineer will work in collaboration with other engineers, cross-functional teams not limited to sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and service. Deliverables and Responsibilities:

· Perform hydraulic design engineering as it relates to Astec product development and improvement projects.

· Effectively use 3-D CAD to model designs and use other engineering tools like Automation Studio to optimize solutions

· Create, check and maintain thorough engineering specifications and drawings

· Manage engineering changes per establish company procedures

· Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing and/or design issues and implement cost reduction ideas with regards to the product

Office

We are looking for a Machine Vision / Controls Engineer to join our fast-paced automation engineering firm. This role focuses on developing machine vision inspection systems while also supporting controls development and feasibility testing for custom automation equipment.

You will perform vision feasibility studies, camera/lens/lighting selection, and vision programming, primarily using Keyence Machine Vision systems. In addition, you will support PLC programming, system integration, and automation debugging on our custom machines.

The Manufacturing/Process Engineer will support the transition of products from engineering to manufacturing and will be responsible for bringing new products from Design Verification build to Pilot Production. Additionally, the Manufacturing/Process Engineer will support the design, installation, and operation of production processes, including sheet metal fabrication, foaming of refrigeration enclosures, heat pipe assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, and performance testing. They will also collaborate with engineers in Design for Manufacturability to transition new products from Design Verification builds into Manufacturing Validation builds and Mass Production, as well as work in a multidisciplinary production and development team.

Education/Experience/Attributes/Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• Professional Engineer (PE) license (North Carolina preferred)

• Extensive experience with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) in a SME or ORD Modeling experience

• 10+ years of roadway design experience (7+ years considered for strong candidates)

• Demonstrated experience delivering complex roadway projects with limited technical direction

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams Ability to design a project from 25% to final signed and sealed

• Exposure to drainage, structures, or traffic control design

Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to join a growing Transportation team in North Carolina. This role is ideal for a highly experienced roadway design professional who thrives in a hands‑on technical leadership position, enjoys mentoring junior staff, and can independently deliver complex roadway projects from early design through final signed and sealed plans. The Senior Roadway Engineer will serve as a technical lead and OpenRoads Designer (ORD) subject matter expert, supporting active and upcoming transportation projects for NCDOT and local municipalities while collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Design • Lead roadway design for transportation improvement projects, including intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, widenings, and bike/ped facilities • Perform and oversee senior‑level roadway geometry, drainage, pavement markings, signing, and work zone traffic control design • Independently advance projects from approximately 25% design through final plans, including signed and sealed deliverables • Provide quality control (QC) reviews and ensure adherence to project scope, standards, and client requirements Software & Technical Expertise • Serve as a subject matter expert in OpenRoads Designer (ORD), including modeling and production workflows • Utilize MicroStation and related roadway design tools; V8i experience is a plus • Support the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports as needed Project & Team Collaboration • Coordinate with project managers, engineers from other disciplines, and design staff to deliver quality projects on schedule and within budget • Create, maintaining and monitoring scopes, fees, schedules, staffing projections, risk registers, QC documentation, and deliverable submittals • Participate in internal and external project meetings, providing technical insight and roadway leadership Mentorship & Professional Development • Train and mentor junior and mid‑level roadway engineers, particularly in ORD and complex roadway design • Provide technical direction with minimal oversight and promote best practices across the roadway team • Collaborate with practice and office leadership to support continued growth in North Carolina
