ABOUT THE POSITION
Under general supervision of the Engineering Director/Manager, the job of the Hydraulic Design Engineer is responsible for design efforts from inception through production in new product development or existing product design.
The Hydraulic Design Engineer will work in collaboration with other engineers, cross-functional teams not limited to sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and service. They will develop conceptual and final design solutions manage and coordinate project activities, support existing product offerings, and perform testing or analysis of new and existing products to further Astecβs product line development goals.
This Hydraulic Design Engineerβs scope of work will focus on Hydraulically Controlled equipment such as track screening and crushing, mobile mining, portables, asphalt milling and paving, track and mobile and forestry, and stationary equipment.
The preferred work location is Yankton SD.
Deliverables and Responsibilities:
Β· Perform hydraulic design engineering as it relates to Astec product development and improvement projects.
Β· Effectively use 3-D CAD to model designs and use other engineering tools like Automation Studio to optimize solutions
Β· Create, check and maintain thorough engineering specifications and drawings
Β· Manage engineering changes per establish company procedures
Β· Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing and/or design issues and implement cost reduction ideas with regards to the product
Β· Use root cause analysis and other problem-solving skills to determine opportunities to improve products and implement corrective actions.
Β· Responsible for achieving due dates and pre-defined requirements defined by management
Β· Be a technical resource as needed to support other departmental needs such as operations, quality, purchasing, service, et cetera
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
Β· Minimum of bachelorβs degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field
- Β· Minimum 5 yearsβ experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design)

Β· Ability to develop and/or guide necessary computations such as load development, stress analysis, performance measurement, hydraulic circuit analysis, costing, etc. and interpret the results as necessary

Β· Researches industry standards to stay abreast of latest applicable requirements. Performs GAP analysis on standards.

Office

About The Position
Primarily responsible for creating electrical drawings and associated documents for retrofit control panel projects supporting asphalt plant automation systems. Works from field audit documentation to develop complete drawing packages for panel manufacturing. Collaborates with Project Engineers and manufacturing to ensure drawings meet project requirements and production needs.
Key Deliverables
Prepares detailed electrical control panel drawings including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and I/O assignments
- Creates electrical bills of material and purchased parts lists from drawing packages
- Develops drawing packages from field audit documentation provided by Project Engineers
- Interacts with Project Engineers and manufacturing to confirm requirements and resolve design questions
- Coordinates with Procurement to ensure long lead time items are identified early
- Supports manufacturing with drawing clarifications during panel build
Key Activities & Responsibilities
- Create retrofit panel drawings using EPLAN, maintaining compatibility with legacy AutoCAD documentation
- Work within established drawing standards and templates
- Generate accurate BOMs from completed drawings
- Respond to drawing questions from Controls Center manufacturing team
- Document design decisions and maintain project drawing files
- Supports the project process by reviewing field audit documentation and attending project kickoff meetings to confirm design requirements
- Supports as necessary lending assistance in electrical and controls troubleshooting
- Collaborative electrical print checking
- Timely and accurate correction/resolution of drawing errors

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
- Associates degree or a minimum of two years of equivalent knowledge/experience in electrical design or related field
- Experience with EPLAN required; AutoCAD experience preferred
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code and UL 508A panel requirements
- Ability to select proper components, size starters, breakers, wiring and conduit
- Ability to read electrical ladder diagrams and control schematics
- Knowledge of PLCs and industrial control system components

Office Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works primarily in an office environment using computer-based design tools. Duties include extended computer work, sitting or standing at a workstation. The employee may occasionally visit the Controls Center manufacturing facility to support panel builds or resolve drawing questions. When in the manufacturing area, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, tools and equipment, and moderate noise levels. About The Position
The Operations Program Manager will lead a PMO project management team, ensuring the successful execution of site efficiency programs across several manufacturing facilities at Astec. The project team is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing manufacturing projects, capital expenditures, and facility efficiency initiatives. The incumbent will assist our facility business partners in defining a strategic roadmap of 3-5 years. The Operations Program Manager will also effectively monitor and present program updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members. Responsible to coach, mentor, and supervise the PMO coordinators and specialists in daily assignments and activities and ensure that professional program management techniques and tools are used to manage programs and projects.
Key Deliverables
- Architect and oversee the multi-site project portfolio to ensure 100% alignment with the Infrastructure Solutions (IS) strategic roadmap and ROI targets.
- Establish and enforce rigorous portfolio governance standards to ensure data integrity across all budget, resource, and schedule reporting.
- Maintain absolute control over "Planned" data (budget and ROI projections) to ensure the PMO remains the single source of truth and prevents unauthorized data manipulation by decentralized leads.
- Serve as the primary change agent for project management maturity, driving process adoption within a high-speed manufacturing culture.
- Synthesize complex project data into actionable program-level insights for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and site business partners.
- Direct the hiring, performance lifecycle, and professional growth of a high-performing project management team.

- Proficiency in Project Management Software (e.g., Project Insight, Asana, Microsoft Project, etc.) and the Microsoft 365 suite.
- Professional certification such as PMP, PgMP, or PfMP is highly preferred.

ABOUT THE POSITION
This critical position is responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of Astecβs inventory and materials department in one of Astecβs primary manufacturing sites in North America. This position will work closely with internal operations customers and requires an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.To excel in this role, a materials manager must have in-depth knowledge of supply chain, budgeting processes and must be a change agent. Ultimately ensures all departments have adequate access to the materials that are needed to execute the master schedule. Executes the organization's overall supply chain vision, policies, objectives, and initiatives. Oversees the organization's operational procurement, inventory, warehousing, and transportation functions. Key driver for aftermarket order fulfillment performance. Actively participates in, as well as directs and coordinates, the activities of personnel engaged in the distribution of raw materials and some finished goods in the organization. Ensures compliance with all applicable requirements and specifications in accordance with company policies, principles, and procedures by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
- Drive operational excellence in supply chain capabilities through execution of the 5-year strategic roadmap.
- Supports procurement cost savings initiatives through tactical negotiations and alignment with corporate procurement sourcing strategies.
- Achieve and strategic objectives for inventory levels and turns while minimizing stockouts.

About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Field Service Technician I with a strong electrical background who is willing to travel extensively and learn Astecβs asphalt plant processes and control systems. This role is responsible for supporting the installation, startup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of client equipment at customer sites. The technician will work closely with engineering, service leadership, and customers to ensure successful equipment performance and high customer satisfaction.
This is a highly hands-on, travel-intensive position suited for individuals who enjoy field work, problem-solving, and working independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Support installation, commissioning, and startup of Astec equipment under the guidance of senior technicians
- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic/control, and mechanical systems
- Ensure proper sequencing, interlocking, calibration, and application of control systems
- Conduct on-site training for customer personnel on startup, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance basics
- Generate accurate daily field service reports and documentation
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and product support teams regarding technical issues, warranties, and design improvements
- Assist with identifying and resolving equipment or process issues
- Be available for emergency service dispatch as required
- Maintain a professional, customer-focused attitude at all times
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (technical training or related education is a plus)
- Min 2 years of experience in construction, manufacturing, industrial service, or related fields
- Strong electrical fundamentals β ability to work with electrical and electronic circuits
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, electronic, and mechanical schematics/blueprints
- Knowledge of circuitry, pneumatic, hydraulic, and power transmission systems
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable working independently and in small teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (Windows, Microsoft Office)
- Willingness and ability to travel 100%
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to asphalt, concrete, combustion, or heavy industrial equipment
- Experience with welding (stick/MIG), cutting torch, or steel fabrication
- Familiarity with industrial control systems
- Experience working in field service or customer-facing technical roles

NOTE: This position requires previous professional engineering experience, especially with New Product Development and VAVE. This is not an entry level position.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The NPD/VAVE Engineer serves as a corporate-level engineering resource responsible for driving manufacturability, cost optimization, and standardization across all Astec divisions.
This role supports New Product Development (NPD) and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives that align with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Strategic Business Plan (AME SBP) β specifically under the pillars of Innovation Enablement, Process Optimization, and Operational Excellence.
By collaborating cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and Site Manufacturing Engineering, this role ensures that products are designed and industrialized efficiently, safely, and profitably.
Deliverables & Responsibilities
1. NPD/NPI (New Product Development/Introduction)
a. Serve as the manufacturing engineering representative in product development teams.
b. Conduct Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/A) reviews during all design gate phases.
c. Co-ordinate with IE and AME to develop manufacturing routings, labor standards, and process documentation for NPIs.
d. Support Pilot and prototype builds to validate design, process capability and readiness for mass productions.
e. Identify and communicate manufacturability issues early in the design to minimize late-stage changes.
f. Ensure product launches meet AMEβs cost, quality and delivery objectives.
2. VAVE (Value Analysis and Value Engineering)
a. Identify and lead cost reduction projects across product lines focusing on material, process and design efficiency.
b. Collaborate with procurement, design and Operations to implement alternative materials, part consolidations and design simplifications.
c. Develop and maintain VAVE project funnel and savings dashboard in alignment with corporate targets.
d. Conduct competitive benchmarking, product teardowns, and process cost studies to support ideation.
e. Validate and track cost savings through data-driven methods (Std. Labor time, BOM impact, etc.).
3. Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Standard and Manufacturing Integration
a. Support the deployment and continuous improvement of corporate AME standard, including:
b. PFEP (Plan for Every Part).
c. Line β Side Stock (LSS) systems
d. MBOM accuracy and process routings
e. PFMEA templates and work instruction formats.
f. Work with site ME to ensure consistent adoption of best practices in fabrication, welding, assembly, and paint.
g. Partner with AME Systems, IE and Paint Engineering teams to ensure new product/process alignment with automation and equipment capability.
4. Data and Digital Integration
a. Leverage tools such as Oracle Fusion, SigmaNest, Power BI and Excel based models to analyze cost, process and efficiency data.
b. Participate in Industry 4.0 Initiatives to bring digital visibility to manufacturing and product performance metrics.
c. Drive data-driven decision-making for capacity, labor optimization and cost competitiveness.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
a. Act as a liaison between Corporate AME, Site ME, Design Engineering, Procurement and Operations teams.
b. Facilitate and lead NPD/VAVE review meetings/workshops, ensuring project status, risks and savings realization.
c. Provide regular updates to AME leadership on key deliverables, metrics and Strategic Business Plan alignment progress.
6. Key Deliverables
a. DFM/A reviews and closure reports per product design phase.
b. Approved routings and time studies before pilot builds.
c. Annual Validated cost savings through VAVE initiatives.
d. Standardize AME process documents across all divisions.
e. Weekly dashboards and KPI update to AME leadership.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
- Bachelorβs degree in mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
- Masterβs in mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development or VAVE roles.
- Understanding of fabrication, machining, welding, assembly and paint process.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Knowledge of Oracle ERP
- Strong foundation in Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, Process Flow and cost analysis.
- Excellent communication and project management for cross-functional integration.

Provide leadership to the entire combustion field service teams in ensuring that the goals and objectives of the department and the company are met in terms of providing world-class service to our customers.
LOCATION: This is an onsite position at our Heatec facility in Chattanooga, TN.
Key Deliverables

- Oversee all field service activities for process heating with the IPS
- Maintain accurate data for evaluation and provide feedback to Engineering. Manufacturing, and Sales departments.
- The ability to work in a Matrix management/organizational structure.
- Stay current with technology that affects the commercial and industrial process heating.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
- Has responsibility for all field service activities for Thermal heating.
- Responsible for the preparation of department budget and compliance with the budget.
- Organize, coordinate, and develop a staff to effectively provide field service activities for our distributors and/or customers.
- Responsible for organizing, developing, and presenting service training for Astec, Inc. customers, including maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operating instructions.
- Responsible for telephone service assistance as needed, working from Astec, Inc. offices or home.
- Provide accurate data for evaluation by Engineering and Manufacturing Departments for immediate solutions and make recommendations as needed.
- Evaluate staff performance at meeting company and personal performance goals and make recommendations based on appraisals. Ensure performance appraisals are utilized throughout the department.
- Review and approve expense reports, while controlling costs and following the guidelines in our travel policy.
- Review and approve employee timecards. This includes time management for overtime and work schedule from the office to the field.
- Coordinate issuance of Service Bulletins and follow up on completion of said work.
- Serve on committee and focus groups as assigned.
- Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as needed across all sites.
