This is a small team of broadly experienced engineers that strive to ensure that all hardware being produced meets the stringent requirements for aviation. Hardware Test Engineers are one of the essential interfaces between the design, production, and flight test teams and are exposed to a wide variety of technical challenges.
You will be creating automated test stands to replicate extreme flight conditions on our hardware and mechanisms that will serve as the backbone of our qualification testing. You will help to break our development hardware, help root-cause the failure modes, and provide critical input in redesigning it. You will be writing the software and building the hardware platforms for the command, control and data collection systems that will test our systems to rigorous aerospace standards.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Invent, develop, industrialize, procure, and/or install machinery, tools, and equipment related to the testing of tires (on vehicles and on machines) and materials for tires.
Modify and improve tire-test and material-test equipment.
Manage projects for the purchase of machines/equipment for the testing departments. Follow Michelin project approach through the project stages including:
- Opportunity Study, Feasibility Study, Risk Analysis, Solution Selection & Development, Installation and Startup, Homologation & Qualification, ROI
Study, select, and purchase equipment and components from outside suppliers which will provide solutions to problems (or desired outcomes) presented by the testing departments.
Collaborate with personnel from various departments including operations, maintenance, test engineers, tire design engineers, purchasing, IT, and management.
Use 3D modeling software (SolidWorks) for developing parts, assemblies, and drawings. Use SolidWorks Simulation tools as required to guarantee integrity of parts and assemblies.
Occasional travel to outside vendors for equipment evaluation/acceptance and to other Michelin sites for equipment startup/installation.
Select and manage contractors and outside vendors performing on-site work.
Analyze data from tire test equipment as required to troubleshoot problems or to improve confidence in test results. Develop an understanding of how tire behavior and measurement can affect the final results. Consider and apply these findings in the development/ procurement/ modification of test equipment.

Position Description
In this role, you’ll be the lead over a team of 3 hardware engineers, doing design, test, debugging, and release of power inverters and converters (10-300 kW). Your responsibilities will be a mix of hands-on development and guiding team members through the full development life-cycle, from concept to release into high volume production.
Other responsibilities include:
- Evaluate customer/project requirements and selecting appropriate topologies for DC/AC and DC/DC applications
- Select active semiconductor switching devices as well as passive components required for converter power circuits (capacitors, inductors, transformers, etc.)
- Have a hand in multiple projects (3-5)
- Analyze switching and transient behavior of devices to determine limits, proper gating, operation and implementation
- Design analysis including modeling, simulation, and control loops
- Optimize designs with an eye toward efficiency, density, and cost
- Conduct design reviews and follow NPI process
- Perform hands-on lab work building and debugging prototypes
- Lead the interface with contractors to outsource project tasks, track the progress per project schedule, and report it to management team
Qualifications
- BSEE (focus on power electronics) with 8+ years of experience in full development life-cycle power electronics development at the board-level (digital, analog, and power electronic circuit design).
- Background developing power electronics in the range of 100-300 kW.
- Experience either as a lead engineer or as a senior engineer, ready to step into a lead-level role.
- Strong understanding of areas such as:
- - power inverters
- - 3-phase power systems
- - space vector, sinusoidal, and/or discontinuous PWM schemes
- - SiC and GaN devices
- - Circuit simulation software (Matlab, Simulink, LTSpice, etc.)

- Lead engineers & perform development of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) requirements, behaviors, and interfaces along with required traceability.
