A growing steel fabrication and reinforcing operation is seeking a hands-on Plant Manager to lead the startup and ongoing operation of a new production facility in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

This role will be responsible for bringing a new facility online, including equipment installation, commissioning, plant layout, workflow development, staffing, and process implementation. Once operational, this individual will assume full responsibility for daily production, scheduling, and overall plant performance. This position will also support future facility expansion projects as the company continues to grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of fabrication and material handling equipment
  • Coordinate vendor setup, calibration, validation, and startup of new machinery
  • Develop plant layout including material flow, staging areas, storage, and safety zones
  • Implement efficient production workflows for structural steel and reinforcing steel operations
  • Coordinate utilities integration including power distribution, compressed air, ventilation, and dust collection systems
  • Establish preventative maintenance systems and equipment reliability programs
  • Develop standard operating procedures, production documentation, and safety processes
  • Hire, train, and develop key production personnel and supervisors
  • Manage daily steel fabrication and reinforcing operations
  • Develop and maintain production schedules and capacity planning systems
  • Monitor KPIs including throughput, scrap rates, labor efficiency, equipment uptime, safety, and on-time delivery
  • Oversee raw material inventory including structural steel, rebar, plate, and fabricated components
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with applicable welding and structural fabrication standards
  • Coordinate closely with estimating and project management to align production output with project demand
  • Prepare the facility for future expansion and additional startup initiatives

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in steel, metal fabrication, or heavy industrial manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience installing and commissioning production equipment
  • Experience developing plant layouts and production workflows
  • Production scheduling and capacity planning experience
  • Leadership experience supervising fabrication or manufacturing teams
  • Strong understanding of structural steel, reinforcing steel, or heavy metal processing
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with strong shop-floor credibility

Preferred Background:

  • Experience in structural steel fabrication
  • Experience with rebar processing and bending systems
  • Experience with CNC plasma, beam line, or plate processing equipment
  • Experience with press brake operations
  • Knowledge of welding processes such as GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW
  • Experience managing heavy material handling systems including overhead cranes and forklifts
  • Experience leading multi-shift production environments

The ideal candidate is technically strong, comfortable around heavy equipment, experienced in equipment startup and process implementation, and capable of transitioning from facility launch into structured production management. Position Summary
The Traveling HVAC Startup Controls Foreman is responsible for the supervision, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new and existing mechanical systems in commercial and industrial buildings. This role ensures that all HVAC and control systems are installed, tested, and functioning according to project specifications, building codes, and client expectations. The Foreman provides leadership in the field, supports apprentices and technicians, and collaborates with project managers and engineers to ensure safe, efficient, and successful project delivery. This is a 100% travel job.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Commission and start up commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including refrigeration systems, air handling units, temperature controls, and heat pumps.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair existing HVAC and control systems to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
  • Install and pressure test refrigeration piping systems and verify connections meet specifications.
  • Ensure all startup and commissioning documentation, including service work orders and forms, are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate work activities with other trades and departments to avoid conflicts and maintain project schedules.
  • Provide on-site supervision, direction, and training to apprentices and technicians assigned to startup and service tasks.
  • Monitor job progress and report status updates to project managers and leadership.
  • Enforce company safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site.
  • Act as a technical resource for clients and ensure customer satisfaction through professional communication and service delivery.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support project and company objectives.

Key Role Description



Responsibilities primarily involve day-to-day support of pipeline and terminal process control systems and associated applications, including, but not limited to, distributed regulatory control systems (SCADA and LDS systems), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and process history data systems. The Metals Supervisor leads the mechanics and support crafts responsible for maintaining fixed equipment in the refinery. This includes, but is not limited to heaters, boilers, ducting, vessels, piping, valves, and structural steel. This role oversees union metals mechanics, contractors (union and non-union), and outside shops to successfully complete their tasks in a safe and cost-effective manner. The Metals Supervisor assures all maintenance work complies with applicable safety, engineering, safe work practice standards, laws, and regulations.

  • May function with responsibility for monitoring work activities of a project team and ensuring that all project work is performed in accordance with Company procedures.

  • Provides recommendations for system operational improvements through submission of capital and expense projects as part of the annual budgeting process and performs budget re-forecasting as appropriate. Maintains long-term capital budget.

Seeking a BE/BC Neuro-oncologist to join team in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois with Academic Appointment at the Univ. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (U of I) and the Illinois College of Medicine.

Academic appointment (Tenure, or Academic Research Track) will be commensurate with candidate's qualifications and experience. Neuro-oncologist would practice at main campus in Urbana with 80% clinical duties at Cancer Institute/Hospital and 20% research at the U of I (protected research time dependent on interest and experience). Candidate will be expected to teach undergraduates, medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and post-doctoral candidates.

Neuro-oncologist would work with a team of 6 neurosurgeons, 7 hematology/oncology physicians, 4 radiation oncologists, and several APPs. For clinical work, the Neuro-oncologist will have two collaborating/mentoring physician providers with one in each department: hematology/oncology and neurosurgery.

Neuro-oncologist would evaluate patients and prescribe chemotherapy and biological therapy to patients with primary brain tumors and would assist hematology/oncology physicians with management of patients receiving intrathecal chemotherapy with Ommaya reservoir. Neuro-oncologist would have clinic with appropriate staffing and access to Infusion Rooms and would practice in a multi-disciplinary setting with biweekly Brain Tumor Case Conference and a strong support from all hospital services. Neuro-oncologist would become a member of our future multi-disciplinary neuro-oncology clinic and would have clinical collaboration and back up coverage with hematology/oncology physicians.

Exceptional research opportunities and brain applications for imaging with new 7 Tesla MRI. The U of I has a strong focus on neuroscience with a variety of research projects: from cognitive neuroscience study of human learning and memory to several imaging projects at Biomedical Imaging Center at Beckman Institute. This includes MRI and molecular imaging (PET/SPECT/CT) labs that can support imaging research for humans, animals, and materials. The candidate would be able conduct basic science research, or translational research with the U of I faculty. The candidate will be supported to develop relationships and collaborate with the existing researchers as well as physicians in other clinical departments. The candidate will be supported to attract intramural and extramural funding, and develop hypothesis driven research protocols. Research start-up package will be provided to support new graduates.

Hematology/Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Neurosurgery are committed to providing the highest quality of care for patients with primary and metastatic brain, base of skull and spine tumors. Our neurosurgeons perform awake craniotomies for resection of brain tumor, stealth neuro-navigation, operative microscopy, intra-operative ultrasound, neuro-monitoring and fluorescence guided glioma resections. Spinal fusion is available for patients with metastatic disease to the spine. Radiation Oncology has state-of-the-art technology with Varian True Beam linear accelerator with the most sophisticated beam shaper (micro-MLCs) offering a very conformal delivery of radiation therapy to brain tumors with avoidance of the normal brain tissue. The radiation oncology/neurosurgery team routinely performs cone based stereotactic radiosurgery for patients with trigeminal neuralgia and base of skull tumors

The Role:

The Project Executive provides overall leadership and direction on the construction project. Typically, the Project Executive is responsible for negotiating the Owner contract, is the main contact for the Project Manager for issues concerning budget, billing and client satisfaction, and ensures the fiscal success of the project.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in business judgment and all financial and profitability aspects of projects under your jurisdiction Participate extensively in and the work acquisition process, working to define and develop project budgets and schedules that will achieve profitability objectives taking into account project-specific challenges
  • Set appropriate milestones and assign staff qualified to handle the scope and complexity of the project
  • Work closely with clients, owners, architects, and subcontractors to develop relationships that exceeds the client satisfaction to Suffolk’s demanding standards
  • Provide oversight in managing all necessary resources throughout the entire project from start-up through closeout and ensure that the Owner’s expectations regarding budget, schedule, and quality, as well as Suffolk’s profitability objectives are met or exceeded

It is expected that the Project Executive is the “common thread” that owns the project from Pre-Construction through Closeout and beyond. This involves:

  • Oversight of projects at a high level from beginning to end including budget, costs, unexpected events, general performance, and overall progress against plan
  • Ensure that the day-to-day operations of projects are transitioned effectively to Project Managers and Superintendents from Preconstruction when work commences in the field
  • Mentor, train, and coach staff to perform to or exceed Suffolk standards
  • Represent Suffolk to the Owner(s), Architects, Consultants, Government Authorities, Vendors and Subcontractors

Project Acquisition:

  • Participate to understand unique owner needs, to represent Suffolk capabilities and help close potential client
  • Review projects for unique challenges that will impact budget/profitability objectives utilizing Litmus Test
  • Utilize industry contacts and relationships to generate appropriate project leads and follow through to acquisition as required
  • Participate in and contribute to the RFP response process including editing for project specific content, and interview preparation and participation as requested
  • Participate in Contract negotiation as requested

Project Start Up/Turnover/Pre-Construction:

  • Assign appropriate Project Staff (Includes Project Management and Field Ops Staff)
  • Review and approve the pre-mobilization activities
  • Ensure Turnover meeting occurs between Preconstruction and Operation teams
  • Be the pre-construction lead as requested, working closely with the pre-construction, and estimating teams to develop project specific budgets, schedules, and logistics plans

Project Operations:

  • Responsible for ensuring that Projects achieve budget, schedule, quality, and profitability objectives
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Suffolk/Owner Contract. Ensure project team understanding of same and that project achieves compliance with
  • Visit sites regularly to monitor project performance, schedule, and expenditures with project staff, highlight potential challenges and provide leadership in responding creatively to bring projects in on schedule and under budget, where feasible., and to the standard of quality expected

People:

  • Monitor and evaluate Project Manager and Superintendent staff assignments
  • Responsible for development of entire team
  • Assist in sourcing and screening of candidates as requested; mentor, coach, and train them to perform and ensure effective matching of talent to project scope

Financial Performance:

  • Cash Management
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Accurate Financial Forecasting
  • P&L including full understanding of project contingencies, liabilities, and savings potential

Schedule Performance:

  • Assist the project staff in the development of the Baseline Schedule
  • Monitor schedule performance
  • Assist the project team in initiation of Lean Planning processes and workflow
  • Ensure Project Staff understands and is trained in Suffolk Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and monitor compliance

Safety:

  • Champion jobsite safety effort, motivating the on-site team in the implementation of Suffolk Safety Program
  • Ensure the original project budget includes project appropriate funding

Meeting Management:

  • Attend all scheduled meetings necessary to monitor and manage project profitability
  • Chair and/or attend weekly project staff meetings

Client Relationships:

  • Attend owner and project meetings, maintain continuous client contact to gauge performance perceptions and communicate relevant information to Project Team
  • Become the Suffolk representative on the team


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10-15 years of construction management experience for a large-scale general contractor or CM at Risk firm
  • Self-perform experience a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of intricate commercial construction practices required
  • Experience leading multiple successful project teams including development of direct reports and maintaining relationships with external entities
  • Each set of projects has specific characteristics regarding size, complexity, sector etc, which dictate the precise years of experience and industry knowledge necessary for success, above and beyond general construction knowledge and experience
  • The ability to manage and embrace change. Respond and adapt to new processes and new ways of looking at old problems
