Key Responsibilities
Bid Administration & Document Management
• Set up each project in iSqFt — upload plans, specifications, and all associated bid documents for wastewater treatment plant and pump station projects; maintain the planholder list throughout the bid period
• Upload all addenda to iSqFt immediately upon receipt and distribute to estimators, subcontractors, and all relevant stakeholders with clear documentation of what changed
• Populate all required public bid forms — unit price schedules, subcontractor listings, contractor certifications, non-collusion affidavits, and any agency-specific documents
• Order bid bonds through the company's surety agent; verify the bond form, penal sum, and all conditions match the project's exact requirements

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is open due to a retirement, and the outgoing estimator is currently working with the team to ensure a smooth transition and knowledge transfer. The estimator will collaborate closely with engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to determine the cost, materials, labor, and production requirements for custom tooling projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotes for custom tooling, molds, fixtures, and dies.
- Review RFQs, drawings, and project specifications to determine scope, materials, labor, and production requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and design teams to gather project requirements such as durability, material specifications, and operating conditions.
- Calculate costs related to: Raw materials (steel, specialty metals, etc.), Labor and machining time, Outsourced processes or third-party services, Shipping and logistics
- Develop detailed proposals and pricing structures for customers.
- Maintain documentation including BOMs (Bill of Materials), cost breakdowns, and pricing data.
- Evaluate project timelines and production requirements to ensure estimates align with manufacturing capabilities.
- Track projects and adjust estimates when production costs or timelines change.
- Support the sales and engineering teams by ensuring quotes are competitive and technically accurate.

Required Qualifications
- Experience in estimating or cost analysis within a manufacturing or machine shop environment
- Strong understanding of tooling, fixtures, dies, or metal manufacturing processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing cost breakdowns
- Experience evaluating materials, machining time, labor, and production costs
- Strong collaboration skills with engineering, sales, and production teams
Preferred Experience
- Experience in tool and die, mold making, or machining environments
- Knowledge of steel materials and tooling applications
- Exposure to CNC machining, thermoforming molds, or stamping dies
- Experience using 3D models or CAD drawings during quoting processes

About the Role
P&S is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead both engineering and estimating functions within the organization.
This is not a design-only position. This role is deeply connected to the shop floor and requires someone who can work directly with production, solve real-time manufacturing challenges, and take ownership of engineering execution and quoting accuracy.
This position will play a key role in helping the business scale by taking on day-to-day technical and estimating responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Engineering Leadership
- Lead engineering activities supporting sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining operations
- Work directly with the shop floor (lasers, press brakes, CNC, finishing) to resolve production challenges
- Serve as the technical authority on manufacturability, materials, tolerances, and complex customer requirements
- Provide guidance on design for manufacturability (DFM) and process improvements
- Establish and maintain practical engineering standards, processes, and documentation
Estimating & Costing
- Own and oversee the estimating function to ensure accurate and competitive quotes
- Review complex or high-value quotes, validating technical feasibility and cost assumptions
- Utilize ERP and estimating systems to improve consistency and accuracy in quoting
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a small engineering and estimating team
- Set performance expectations and support ongoing development
- Participate in hiring and onboarding as the team grows
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with production, sales, and quality teams
- Participate in customer discussions as a technical and manufacturing expert
- Support operational improvements and long-term growth initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience (not design-only)
- Strong experience in sheet metal fabrication and/or CNC machining
- Direct exposure to shop floor operations (lasers, press brakes, CNC equipment)
- Experience working with manufacturing ERP systems
- Proven ability to take ownership and lead in a hands-on environment
- Authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
Preferred
- Prior engineering management or team leadership experience
- Experience in high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing environments
- Background in Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
- Familiarity with regional manufacturing markets
Compensation & Work Environment
- Base Salary: $120,000 – $135,000
- Bonus: 10–15% annual bonus
- Work Model: 100% onsite
- Relocation: Limited support (moving expenses reimbursed with receipts)
