Job Purpose

The primary mission of this position is to lead activities related to equipment characteristic improvement for the Ohio Transmission Plant, Aluminium Machining Department.  This will be accomplished by performing true root cause analysis of top problems and implementing countermeasures.

This is an electrical-focused engineer whose goal is to facilitate department S, Q, and D metric target achievement.

Key Accountabilities

Manufacturing Equipment Expert:

Equipment top problem root cause analysis and permanent countermeasure

Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends related to equipment performanc

Identify improvement opportunities for Key Performance Indicators and for cost avoidance/elimination

Become an expert in a specific area of automation technology (i.e. PLC, Motion Control, Robotics, etc…)  Then, train associates on equipment or process change

Lifecycle management of manufacturing equipment. (Spare Parts, Procedures, PM

Project Management:  Define and create scope of design and construction for renovation, upgrade of existing electrical systems, or for build of a new system with a focus on cost control.  Conduct PDCA during design and implementation stage.  Create, implement and maintain project schedules and achieve desired results.

Review, verify and approve electrical engineering drawings at the various design completion levels. Work with and manage contractors' activities throughout the different phases of a project.

New Technology:  Use manufacturing expertise to support company’s development of new processes.

  • Direct all materials management, including procurement, shipping/receiving, kitting, inventory control (e.g., cycle counting and warehouse organization), and alignment with production schedules to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies for long lead times, component obsolescence, and supply chain disruptions common in the power electronics industry.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams across production, engineering, logistics, procurement, and quality functions, fostering collaboration and professional development.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other initiatives to enhance competitive positioning, profitability, and customer satisfaction while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in operations or manufacturing management within the electronics industry, with a proven track record in power electronics, industrial controls, or similar high-reliability products.
  • Deep technical knowledge of power electronics (high voltage/current), control systems, electronic test methodologies, and standards like IPC-A-610.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as semiconductor (Copy Exact), medical (FDA/ISO 13485), or aerospace/defense (AS9100/NADCAP).
  • Direct experience managing ISO certifications, rigorous change control, and QMS oversight.

Job Description Responsibilities: Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical equipment including but not limited to: motors (all types), starters, breakers, transformers, isolation switches, relays, fuses, resistors, air conditioning, valves, AC Drives, DC Drives, electrical cable, fiber optic cable, coaxial cable, conduit, receptacles, PLCs, heaters, control panels, lights & lighting panels, distributive controls, UPS, fire & emergency alarms, disposal of bulbs and other hazardous material.

Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment including but not limited to: transmitters (all types), valves, I/P, positioners, actuators, dampers, flow meters, and level sensors.

Complete and prioritize multiple work orders, in support of controls systems, motors, mechanical equipment, PLC programing, etc.

AB Logix and Siemens S7 platform including integrated motion is highly desirable.

Work to effectively troubleshoot technical issues both related to maintenance and in emergency situations; Troubleshooting electrical, motor and control problems.

This includes determining if a motor or electrical system, is functioning properly and is configured properly.

If there is a problem, determine the proper course of action and safely implement it.

Solutions may include taking voltage and amp readings, tracing wiring, evaluating relays, testing motors, evaluating health of wiring, checking breakers and fuses, evaluating sensors and determining the health of overall systems and equipment.

Discuss and explain technical issues in a business environment; act professionally during times of equipment breakdown.

Utilize MS Windows, Industrial Software and CMMS (EAM) on a daily basis.

Assist maintenance mechanics on shift as needed.

Including the performance of mechanical repairs when appropriate.

In accordance with written and oral instructions, assure that the facility and the associated equipment operates safely, properly and efficiently.

Ensure compliance with the Controls Change Management System where non-emergency changes are approved and documented prior to the change being made.
