The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the operational performance of their assigned area including quality, productivity, and on time delivery. The Manufacturing Engineer contributes to elimination of waste in all aspects of manufacturing by combining engineering training with lean manufacturing principles and a focus on quality to drive waste out of the production system. Responsibilities:
- Establishes root cause and corrective action plans in response to customer quality concerns. Acts as the primary point of customer communication in response to poor customer quality and ensures timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Leads production teams to quickly identify and resolve manufacturing process and product performance issues affecting productivity, First Pass Yield, and On Time Delivery using a fact based, data oriented approach.
- Identifies and eliminates barriers to one piece flow as well as manufacturing process bottlenecks affecting productivity and On Time Delivery.
- Works with both internal & external suppliers to ensure that all materials meet design and quality requirements.
- Leads cross functional teams to develop & implement new manufacturing processes in support of new products.
- Develops, updates and maintains production documentation including standard work and manufacturing process procedures while ensuring that all existing processes and procedures are followed.
- Supports design with input on manufacturing process capability during the new product development phase.
- Supports strategies in Operation Excellence as an active participant in continuous improvement projects.
- Supports production teams in the identification and elimination of potential safety hazards.
- Identifies, prioritizes and processes Engineering Change Requests for continuous product and process improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
- Automation Experience
- 0-8 years of work experience. Internship and co-op experience is considered.
- Experience with Lean implementation in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Mostly production floor based and requires considerable time standing and walking on the production floor.
- Required to operate a computer, other office devices, as well as some machinery on the production floor.
- Occasionally will have to lift and/or transport items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Predominately production floor.
- While on the production floor, employee may be subjected to moving mechanical parts and may be required to put on precautionary, protective wear such as safety shoes, and glasses.
- Some travel required.

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring supplier quality, compliance, and performance for precision electromechanical components and assemblies, including brushless motors, actuators, and advanced motion control systems, supporting Defense, Aerospace, and Medical Supplier Quality Engineer develops, implements, and executes supplier development/supplier quality programs with focus on advanced quality planning, problem prevention (zero defects), and problem resolution. Responsibilities:
- Monitors and/or leads advanced quality planning activities for existing and potential suppliers.
- Works closely with site-specific purchasing and materials groups for supplier selection and approval activities.
- Works closely with site specific Quality/Receiving departments to develop and monitor incoming inspection plans to ensure economic and cost-effective supplier quality control.
- Monitors and supports supplier quality performance reporting for managerial review activities as necessary.
- Conducts investigative work to solve supplier quality problems, working closely with other functional areas and ensuring overall continual improvement.
- Documents and maintains records and other data related to supplier quality, including meaningful supplier rating reports identifying specific issues, concerns, and trends.
- Works closely with Allied Motion advanced / site specific purchasing and materials groups for participation in supplier improvement and corrective action projects associated with repeat nonconformities, negative trends, and corporate goals and objectives.
- Performs system, process and product audits as necessary to support corrective actions and/or supplier development.
- Assess supplier risk related to quality, delivery, compliance, and continuity of supply
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing capability, process controls, capacity, and scalability through on-site audits and technical reviews.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical, Masters preferred
- 5 or more years of experience in a technical, manufacturing environment with excellent customer interaction
- Expert level experience with Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) and Design of Experiments (DOE) tools and supplier management and lean manufacturing.
- Experience in ITAR / EAR controlled environments
- Knowledge of NADCAP special processes
- Experience with ISO14971

Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of electronics assembly, final box build, functional testing, and burn-in processes to ensure 100% reliability of power electronics and control units built to IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001).
- Manage the value-add engineering panel and sub-assembly shop, translating custom engineering requirements into high-quality products while optimizing labor, equipment, and resource utilization to handle fluctuating demand across market sectors.
- Develop and implement production schedules, strategies, and process improvements to meet targets, reduce cycle times, and eliminate waste in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume environment.
- Lead the Quality Management System (QMS), including internal audits, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as the primary lead for maintaining and renewing ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, and/or AS9100 certifications, ensuring audit readiness and representation during external registrar or customer audits.
- Enforce cascading requirements, such as "Copy Exact!" (CE!) protocols for semiconductor clients, flow-downs of contractual terms, and adherence to industry standards like FDA, NADCAP, and customer-specific regulations.
- Manage strategic relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, including identification, auditing, and oversight for critical components, PCBA fabrication, and services.
- Direct all materials management, including procurement, shipping/receiving, kitting, inventory control (e.g., cycle counting and warehouse organization), and alignment with production schedules to prevent bottlenecks.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies for long lead times, component obsolescence, and supply chain disruptions common in the power electronics industry.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams across production, engineering, logistics, procurement, and quality functions, fostering collaboration and professional development.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other initiatives to enhance competitive positioning, profitability, and customer satisfaction while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.
- Manage budgets, analyze manufacturing execution issues, and implement solutions to ensure consistent product delivery and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years in operations or manufacturing management within the electronics industry, with a proven track record in power electronics, industrial controls, or similar high-reliability products.
- Deep technical knowledge of power electronics (high voltage/current), control systems, electronic test methodologies, and standards like IPC-A-610.
- Experience in highly regulated industries such as semiconductor (Copy Exact), medical (FDA/ISO 13485), or aerospace/defense (AS9100/NADCAP).
- Direct experience managing ISO certifications, rigorous change control, and QMS oversight.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional teams and proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., MS Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred
- Strong understanding of soldering and inspection standards (e.g., J-STD-001) preferred
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies and strategies for scaling operations in electronics manufacturing preferred.
Work Environment:
- This role involves a combination of office-based strategic planning and hands-on oversight on the manufacturing floor, which may include exposure to noise, chemicals, and machinery requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Occasional lifting or handling of equipment up to 50 lbs may be required, along with standing or walking for extended periods.
- Travel (up to 20%) may be necessary for supplier audits, customer meetings, or industry conferences.
