POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief Merchandising Officer, the Director, Center Store has oversight to center store categories in terms of itemization, innovation and financial performance. Center Store categories include, but are not limited to, Grocery, Beverage, Beer/Wine, Liquor, Dairy, Deli, Frozen Foods, HBA and General Merchandise. The Director of Center qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. The role is responsible for organizing and articulating the near and long-term strategic vision of the department and communicating that vision across the organization. The Role is also responsible for daily management of the department team of Category Managers, Purchasing Assistants, as well as a dotted line leadership of the schematics, replenishment, merchandising and support teams. The Role requires direct management of some categories.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • General oversight of the performance of the Center Store Department's Category Management Team.
  • Negotiate costs, promotions, assortment and other metrics with vendors/suppliers for assigned categories of products managed.
  • Analyze sales and profit performance for assigned categories and suppliers/vendors and make appropriate business decisions related to results as well as for the entire department.
  • Assist procurement team in appropriate inventory management and creation of purchase orders for products handled through our self-distribution process. Negotiate favorable costs and terms.
  • Dedicate appropriate time and effort into the innovation of assortment and merchandising for assigned categories and the department overall.
  • Responsible for driving sales growth with new items and promotions.
  • Complete full Category Review Process with all assigned categories minimally once per year.
  • Accountable to full financial performance of assigned categories and the financial performance of the entire department.
  • Provide strong customer service to Team Members.
  • Manage relationships with Strategic Vendor Partners and garners support (financial, resources) to sustain the strategic vision.
  • Develop Category Business Plans (CBP) for managed categories.
  • Work collaboratively with all Team Members to create effective vendor relationships; establish strategic relations with key suppliers and manage vendor funding to drive profitable category growth.
  • Approve section sizes and adjacencies in schematic plans for individually managed categories.
  • Assist with creation of business case for capital expenditures (shelving, fixtures, and store layout) to present to Senior Management.
  • Provide daily performance and administrative leadership of the department team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in product negotiation and procurement.
  • Knowledge of supplier and logistic systems, as well as knowledge of the federal grade/product standards and regulations.
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising methodologies and practices.
  • Ability to integrate with local management, be part of a team, and drive business results.
  • Ability to be persuasive and relentless in reinforcing the best interests of the Company.
  • Effective communicator, particularly when it comes to discussing Human Resources/Compliance matters with management or the department.

This role is critical to bridging our China headquarters with North American operations, driving end-to-end supply chain excellence, and fostering seamless cross-regional collaboration. Key Responsibilities

  1. Align with the China logistics leadership team to develop and execute localized North American supply chain strategies, covering customs clearance, last-mile delivery, warehousing management, dropshipping, and other core logistics operations.
  2. Oversee and optimize third-party overseas warehouse performance, ensuring compliance with local regulations, service standards, and operational efficiency.
  3. Act as the primary point of contact for resolving North American logistics & warehousing challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams (China & US) to deliver timely solutions.
  4. Generate data-driven reports, analyze shipment metrics, reconcile expense statements, and partner with the finance team to streamline payment processes.
  5. Build and maintain strong relationships with North American clients, addressing order fulfillment inquiries, advocating for client needs, and supporting the sales team to enhance customer satisfaction.
  6. Collaborate with the domestic overseas warehouse team to source, evaluate, and on-board high-quality local logistics partners and warehouse resources in North America.
  7. Prioritize and resolve urgent client requests, ensuring business continuity and exceeding customer expectations.
  8. Undertake ad-hoc projects and administrative tasks as assigned by leadership to support global supply chain objectives.


Qualifications & Skills

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher (Master’s preferred); fluent in both English (native/bilingual level) and Chinese (proficient in listening, speaking, reading, writing) – deep understanding of Chinese culture and business mindset is a key advantage.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and logistics management tools.
  3. Minimum 5 years of proven experience in international logistics, with expertise in North American local customs clearance, warehousing, delivery, and supply chain operations; access to high-quality local logistics networks is highly desirable.
  4. Strong knowledge of global logistics markets, including express, air freight, sea freight, and Incoterms; familiar with North American import/export regulations and end-to-end export procedures.
  5. Exceptional logical thinking, strategic planning, and adaptability to adjust plans flexibly in a fast-paced environment; ability to balance big-picture vision with attention to detail.
  6. High sense of responsibility, innovative mindset, and resilience to thrive under high work pressure.
  7. Excellent communication, coordination, and cross-cultural collaboration skills; integrity, diligence, and a team-oriented attitude.

任职要求与技能

  • 本科及以上学历(硕士优先);英语流利(母语 / 双语水平),中文精通(听说读写)—— 深入理解中国文化及商业思维模式者将获优先考虑。
  • 熟练操作微软办公软件(Word、Excel、PowerPoint)及物流管理工具。
  • 拥有至少 5 年国际物流行业实战经验,精通北美本地清关、仓储、配送及供应链运营;拥有优质本地物流资源网络者优先。
  • 深入了解全球物流市场,包括快递、空运、海运及国际贸易术语(Incoterms);熟悉北美进出口法规及全程出口流程。

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead a team of production workers, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  • Assign daily work orders to the Small-Fill team to ensure efficient production flow.
  • Coordinate closely with the Shuttle Tank crew to ensure production schedules align with required ship dates.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence.
  • Enforce and uphold quality control standards to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance processes, addressing any deviations promptly.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of production processes.
