The Anthropology Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, in the Department of World Languages and Cultures invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Anthropology. The area of specialization is North American archaeology, with preference given to candidates with experience teaching courses in quantitative and spatial analyses, archaeological field and laboratory methods, and managing cultural resources such as archaeological sites and historic structures.
Iowa State's Anthropology Program supports vibrant Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts programs. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to these programs through teaching undergraduate and graduate classes, mentoring students, and contributing to departmental and institutional service. This position involves the standard course load of six courses per year, which translates to 75% FTE for teaching faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to teach three courses in the fall and three courses in the spring.
Initial appointment length is three years starting August 16, 2026. Renewal is possible and renewal parameters are determined by performance and department need.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain water quality in pools, ponds and fountains.
- Backwash filters, clean pump screens and baskets, monitor water quality and perform water tests.
- Perform daily inspections and repairs on attractions.
- Able to dig up water lines for repairs as needed as well as pool repairs as needed.
- Caulking of pools and slides as needed.
- Maintain inventory of equipment
- Performs daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and other required inspections of amusement rides and related equipment as assigned; taking corrective actions as issues are identified. Inspections are visual as well as auditory.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, inspects, repairs and tests amusement rides and related equipment. This may include repair or replacement of major components such as gears, chains, sprockets, pneumatic cylinders, hoses, brakes, clutches, wheels, bearings, gearboxes, springs, or a wide variety of other mechanical devices.
- Trouble shoots a variety of mechanical, pneumatic systems and takes appropriate corrective actions.
- Properly follows all repair procedures and maintains accurate documentation of all repairs. Maintains orderly and accurate records of all required inspections and work performed and submits required paperwork to supervision in a timely manner.
- Communicates the status of assigned rides both verbally and in written format.
- Maintains all assigned equipment in a safe and ready condition according to all applicable codes, laws, rules, company policies, and best practices. Works safely and efficiently on all assigned tasks, coordinates with others as necessary to achieve desired results.
- Reads, understands and applies information from manufacturer's manuals for service, repair and or component replacement. Accurately reads blueprints (mechanical, pneumatic).
- Notify maintenance of equipment problems, building repairs, etc. necessary to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Use soldering, hand, and power tools to perform tasks and repairs.
- Provides guest service according to Six Flags standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Six Flags Entertainment Company Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 2 to 4 years previous experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in an industrial or amusement park setting.
- Working knowledge of basic mechanical principles such as gear ratios, torque, proper use of common hand tools, common mechanical nomenclature, etc.
- Familiarity with common types of bearings, bushings, couplers, shafting and similar power transmission components.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the fundamental principles of pneumatic systems.
- CPO certification after 1 year.
- Pesticides license within the first year.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Ability to work safely and effectively while elevated on ladders, platforms, or other structures at heights up to 200 feet above ground.

The Healthy Families Family Support Worker
- Healthy Families East Tennessee is a free and voluntary, intensive, home-visitation program that offers support services and resource linkage to new and expecting parents.
- Healthy Families East Tennessee is affiliated and accredited by Healthy Families America, which is the nationally accredited, evidence based, home visitation model adopted by Prevent Child Abuse America.
- The Healthy Families model is relationship based and focuses on the parent child interaction, strengths of the family, and reducing stressors known to increase the incidence of child abuse and neglect.
- The Family Support Specialist (FSS) is responsible for initiating and maintaining regular and long-term (up to three or five years) contact and support with families.
- This activity will occur primarily within the family's home; each visit should last for at least one hour.
- The FSS ensures the quality of home visiting services helps families achieve core Healthy Families America model quality, fidelity, and success for each family.
- The interventions should be family-centered, strength-based, and directed at establishing a trusting relationship; strengthening the parent-child relationship; promoting healthy childhood growth and development; and enhancing family well-being by reducing risk and building protective factors.
- The FSS partners with families and honors diverse family structures and parenting practices.
- Activities may also include but are not limited to: administering the Family Resilience and Opportunities for Growth Scale (FROG) Scale; administering screening tools such as the ASQ, ASQ-SE, Depression Screens etc.; identifying and referring families for other supportive services, including health care services.
- The FSS will also be responsible for assisting the family in establishing goals and supporting them throughout this process and is responsible for implementing activities outlined on the Family Service Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS - Healthy Families Family Support Worker
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Child and Family Studies, Psychology, or related field preferred.
- High school diploma and lived experience required if not Bachelor's Qualified.
Experience / Knowledge:
- One year experience providing evidence-based home visiting services preferred.
- Experience working with young children and families required.
- Infant Mental Health Endorsement preferred.
- Required to achieve AIMHITN Infant Mental Health Endorsement within the first two years of employment if hired without endorsement.
- Training and knowledge in infant and early child development and parenting skills required.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent communication skills with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to build quality and caring relationships with clients where clients feel supported and heard.
- Maintain a trauma-informed approach when serving families.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and colleagues.
- Willingness to engage in building reflective capacity,
- Manage a flexible schedule and multiple tasks.
- Ability to use reflective practices in working with families.
- Ability to work with diverse populations in culturally sensitive ways.
Physical:
- Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
- Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
- Valid driver's license.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
- Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
- Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
- Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transport clients as necessary.

Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location, local market conditions, state-specific factors, and individual qualifications, including years of experience, education, and scope of responsibility. The base salary range for this position is
[$187,000.00 - $231,000.00].
This range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay we reasonably expect to offer for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity. This role may also be eligible for additional productivity or performance-based bonus incentives.
