Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Manager - Software Quality Engineering to join our Quality & Lean Organization in Multiple Locations!
This is an on-site position and may be located at one of the following locations: Berkeley, MO; Mesa, AZ or Ridley Park, PA.
In this role you will lead large, complex organizational units focused on software quality across multiple programs and divisions. This strategic role shapes company-wide software quality strategy, policy, and enterprise-level initiatives with high visibility and business impact.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a cross-functional team of managers and employees responsible for software quality engineering.
Define and execute organizational-level plans, policies, and strategies that drive software quality, safety, and compliance across the Company’s product lines.
Guide development of long-term business and technical strategies; influence company policy and recommendations for budgets, resource allocation, and risk management.
Oversee and approve enterprise-scale verification approaches, qualification strategies, and lifecycle processes for safety-critical and mission-critical systems.
Ensure alignment of supplier ecosystems and technical partners to organizational quality standards; own high-level supplier performance and escalation management.
Lead high-impact continuous improvement initiatives (value stream assessments, enterprise automation strategy, cross-program defect elimination).
Serve as primary liaison with senior executives, customers, and external stakeholders on matters of organizational significance.
Set and monitor organization-wide KPIs for software quality, delivery risk, and compliance; ensure realistic budgets and schedules are set and met.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
5 + years managing managers (demonstrated leadership of multiple layers of management)
5 + years of experience in software engineering, quality assurance, or related disciplines, with progressive leadership responsibilities
5 + years of experience influencing executive decisions, shaping organizational policy, and delivering measurable enterprise improvements
5 + years of experience demonstrating executive presence with exceptional written and oral communication skills; able to influence senior leaders, present complex technical/organizational matters clearly, and lead high-stakes discussions
5+ years of experience managing large budgets, multi-program resource planning, and senior stakeholder communications
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Active U.S. security clearance
Experience with safety-critical development standards (e.g., DO-178B/C or equivalent)
Practical experience with Agile software development and CI/CD pipelines
Background in Software Quality Engineering practices (test strategy, test automation, static analysis, code reviews)

The Quality Manager leads and continuously improves the company’s Quality processes, procedures, and systems, ensuring compliance with AS9100, ITAR, customer-specific, and regulatory requirements. Position Summary
Sterling is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician with strong machining, fabrication, and design experience to join our team. This role will support engineering and production initiatives by designing, fabricating, and modifying components, fixtures, and tooling in a machine shop environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with extensive hands-on experience in tool and die making, manual machining, and fabrication, capable of working independently while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.
This role will initially be hired as an Engineering Technician III, with the opportunity for promotion to Engineering Technician IV upon transition to a core employee.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, and modify tools, fixtures, and custom components to support engineering and production operations.
- Operate and maintain manual machining equipment, including manual lathes, manual mills, and other machine shop tools.
- Perform tool and die making, precision machining, and fabrication work based on engineering drawings and specifications.
- Utilize 3D modeling software to support design, prototyping, and process improvements.
- Develop and edit CNC programs using MasterCam when required to support machining operations.
- Create and present technical documentation, process updates, and project summaries using PowerPoint and Excel.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design, troubleshoot, and improve mechanical systems, tooling, and fabrication processes.
- Ensure work is performed independently, safely, and in accordance with machine shop best practices and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized machine shop environment and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a machine shop, tool and die, fabrication, or precision machining environment.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Machining, Tool & Die, or related field.
- Experience supporting engineering prototyping, R&D, or manufacturing process development.
- Experience working in high-precision or prototype fabrication environments.
- Extensive experience operating manual lathes, manual mills, and other machine shop equipment.
- Strong background in tool and die making and custom fabrication.
- Experience using 3D modeling software for mechanical design or component development.

Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and provide hands-on support to a large engineering team across multiple states in the Midwest
- Provide strong, visible leadership with a focus on team engagement, accountability, and performance
- Drive technical direction across product design, tooling, and machine design initiatives
- Increase visibility and support across remote teams to ensure alignment and consistency
