Essential Job Summary::

The On-Road Technician / Installer is a mobile field service role responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing compactors, containers, and related waste handling equipment at customer sites. This role involves working independently in the field, managing installations, troubleshooting issues, interfacing with customers, and ensuring safe, efficient setup and operation of equipment. This position requires mechanical, hydraulic, and light electrical knowledge, with a strong emphasis on safety, organization, and professionalism. 

Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.:
  • Perform on-site installations of stationary and self-contained compactors, including leveling, mounting, and basic wiring or hydraulic connections. 
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and service calls to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair compactors and other waste handling systems. 
  • Interface with customers and facility personnel to confirm placement, functionality, and safety of installed equipment. 
  • Coordinate with dispatch and shop teams for equipment delivery, site access, and post-install follow-up. 
  • Test all components post-installation to ensure functionality and safety compliance. 
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in the field using manuals, diagnostic tools, and checklists. 
  • Document work performed, parts used, and any customer concerns using service tickets or mobile forms. 
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of company truck, tools, and inventory. 
  • Follow all safety protocols when working at industrial, retail, or construction sites. 
  • Represent the company professionally, maintaining good communication and clean work practices at customer locations. 

 

Work Environment: 

 This is a field-based position with frequent travel to customer sites. Technicians may be exposed to outdoor weather, confined spaces, heavy lifting, and noisy environments. PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, and eye protection, must be worn during all work. 

Requirements and Qualifications::
  • 2+ years of experience in field service, mechanical installation, or compactor repair (preferred). 
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, basic electrical components, and power tools. 
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, work orders, and technical manuals. 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. 
  • Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly with customers. 
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy parts, climbing ladders, and working in outdoor conditions. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and customer-focused mindset. 
  • DOT certification, forklift experience, or welding background is a plus.

Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.:
  • Performs repairs and PMs with limited or no supervision in accordance with Interstate Waste Service’s Maintenance and Safety Programs.
  • Diagnosis, repairs and verification of repairs on DOT over-the-road and refuse vehicles to include electrical and hydraulic systems, powertrain to include brake, transmission, engine and HVAC systems.
  • Utilize shop and onboard telematics systems for asset operational conditions and interpret downloaded data for recommended repairs and operational improvement.
  • Operate company service vehicle to perform service calls for equipment failures may occur on site, on the road or other offsite locations.
  • Properly utilize company vehicle in accordance with Interstate Waste Service’s Maintenance and Safety Programs.
  • Show proficiency in utilizing company vehicle to support shop and field repairs on site and off site as needed.
  • Utilizes fleet maintenance software to document parts usage, applicable labor hours and detailed orientated notes on the scope of repairs completed and recommended repairs.
Requirements and Qualifications::
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history and motor vehicle record review.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair powertrain, hydraulic, electronic, air and HVAC systems.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience repairing heavy duty trucks or 2 years heavy duty truck experience and associated trade school accreditation.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information
  • Must be computer literate, and have the ability to use computerized diagnostics to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions

Primary Responsibilities


  • Coordinate hospice care in collaboration with team members, patients, and families.




  • Evaluate the effectiveness of hospice services for patients and families on an ongoing basis.




  • Perform nursing assessments, evaluations, and informational visits as needed.




  • Utilize the nursing process to provide professional, compassionate care.




  • Consult with attending physicians and the Hospice Medical Director regarding patient condition changes and care plan updates.




  • Triage all after-hours calls accurately and promptly based on patient and family needs.




  • Ensure timely visits following contact with the after-hours nurse or on-call administrator.




  • Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and contracted services to coordinate patient care.




  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation.




  • Keep patient care plans current and reflective of ongoing needs.




  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) activities.




  • Educate patients and families on the dying process, plan of care, and healthcare decisions.




  • Provide dietary counseling appropriate to the patient’s condition and stage of life.




  • Perform death visits and participate in discharge planning per organizational policy.




  • Maintain current knowledge of drug therapy, hospice protocols, and applicable regulations.




  • Supervise and evaluate Hospice Aide performance every 14 days or as needed.




  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation standards, including Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

Considered a member of the nursing team and is expected to know, and will be held accountable for, following infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use. Provides assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities that may include, but are not limited to, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned resident. Assists the resident in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment and also provides range of motion and passive exercises. Completes tasks related to food preparation and dining, while creating a positive dining experience for the resident. Assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate.

The NA aids providers and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed. Documents resident interactions as needed and the outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary. Communicates resident's changing condition and care related concerns/responses to the charge nurse. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs. Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational. Provides assistance and documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate. May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.

Qualifications

High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.

Minimum of 18 years of age.

Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.

Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement. CNA training and certification required and provided by facility.

Colorado: Depending on facility, Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP) certification with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment required.

Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually. Maintains all department specific required certifications.

When applicable, for applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.

Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver’s license. Also must be medically qualified to perform the essential driving functions of this position as per our Sanford Driving Policy per the leaders request.
