This person will be responsible for a variety of different duties in a manufacturing environment, primarily reconditioning of railcar-related components. In this role you will interact with multiple levels of professionals and spend most of your day in an industrial setting performing general labor on a production line. This position calls for a highly motivated self-starter who can wear many hats, work at a fast pace, and wants to work hard every day. We are ideally looking for someone who has a background in industrial labor, but it is not required for this role.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Breakdown and inspect rail car bearings.
  • Repair or replace faulty components of the bearings.
  • Reassemble and prepare rail car bearings for shipment.
  • Always demonstrate compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean workstation and production floor.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure employees follow all safety procedures and protocols, serve on safety committees, and complete regular safety audits
  • Mange daily production operations of heavy industrial products for assigned work group
  • Set production schedules based on production introduction, equipment efficiency, and quality metrics
  • Coach employees on work quality and quantity ensuring goals are met and solving issues as they arise and are identified
  • Ensure the production of sufficient quantities of quality products at or below budgeted production cost
  • Assist in continuous improvement activities to improve the movement of materials through various production processes
  • Manage hourly employees, monitor and approve time sheets and work logs
  • Assign employees to workstations and ensure proper training is completed
  • Manage all aspects of assigned work groups and production bays, ensuring that production policies and procedures are strictly adhered to by all employees

What You’ll Need:

  • No less than 2 years of successful leadership experience demonstrated in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • Thorough knowledge of blueprints and layouts
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A high degree of dependability, maturity, and strong leadership characteristics as demonstrated through previous professional work experience
  • Must be able to work 5:00am-3:30pm Monday through Friday. Regular and predictable attendance, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal
  • Range of small to large forklift experience preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERINCE:

  • Auto-Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Computer skills to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
