JOB TITLE: Meat Wrapper

II. OVERVIEW:
This description is intended to outline the primary responsibilities, general nature and level of work being performed by teammates assigned to this position. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and competencies of the Meat Wrapper. The incumbent may be assigned other duties and responsibilities.
III. JOB SUMMARY:
To comply with Lowe's company policies, standards, security measures and regulations. Proper performance of the duties and responsibilities of this position contributes to and ensures achievement of proper Market conditions. Responsible for maintaining standards according to the market standard operating procedures. Provides leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of Lowe's guiding principles, core values, and vision.

Frequent contact with all teammates, customers, corporate office and vendors. Occasional contact with teammates from other locations.
V. JOB DUTIES:
- Wrap, weigh and price all meats and related products.
- Assists in keeping perishable merchandise rotated in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Follow approved procedures for receiving, weighing, price marking and breaking down meat procedures.
- Control level of damaged and spoiled/out of date products and ensures proper disposition of same according to company policy.
- Assist in maintaining price book
- Assists in checking and verifies that meat received, to ensure that listed on vendor invoices items delivered, check product for quality, count or weight and conditions.
- Communicate and coordinate with Meat Manager to provide feedback from the store.
- Follow approved procedures for receiving product, pricing, marking and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation.
- Assists in implementing and follow department merchandising plan.
- Assists in training department teammates.
- Complies of company policies, programs, procedures and guidelines
- Work with department teammates to identify the root causes of issues and inefficiencies.
- Interacts with teammates to ensure that all teammates understands Lowe's expectations.
- Constantly interacts with customers.

- Responsible for seeing that all meat cuts are attractively presented. Re-wrap products as necessary.
- Clean and sanitize meat preparation areas, equipment and fixtures in accordance with department standards.
- Empty all refuse containers and consolidate tallow barrels when required.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and sanitizing chemicals. Inform meat manager when levels are low.

VI. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Training and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a apprentice/ training program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Knowledge of various cuts and types of meat products and recommended uses or cooking methods. Knowledge and ability to operate meat department equipment. Ability to read and write English. Good customer relations skills. Must posses basic math skills. Ability to calculate mixture ratios when preparing cleaning solutions.

VII. WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Constant exposure to refrigerated cutting rooms and storage areas. Constant exposure to high humidity. Occasional exposure to frozen food storage with temperatures as low as 20 degrees below zero. Works on wet or slippery surfaces. Noise level normally moderate. Can be extreme when power tools or other equipment are in use. Subject to hazards when operating meat cutting equipment. Subject to communicable.
VIII. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Heavy work- exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires walking and/ or standing up to a significant degree. Must be able to climb, stand, bend, push or pull, twist, grasp, squeeze, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, handle, finger,feel hear and see. Must be able to read small letters and numbers on meat department items. Subject to psychological stress.

Job Summary: To deliver a great customer experience while working in the Meat Department; to maintain a visually appealing department and to perform other tasks as required in an efficient and safe manner within Company policy. To cut meat and prepare related products in the variety, size, quality and trim prescribed by company and department standards; to communicate and courteously assist customers with the selection of meat items.
Minimum Required Qualifications: The minimum required qualifications for of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Must possess a strong knowledge of safe food handling and demonstrate safe work habits.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 35 lbs., and occasionally lift 80-90 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures.
- Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences.
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to operate Meat Department equipment such as band saws, grinders, wrapping machines, power jacks, knives and cutters.
- Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
Essential Job Functions: Performance of the essential functions of this position require the Associate to possess the minimum qualifications listed above. These functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
- Maintain sanitation control according to Company policy.
- Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment in accordance with Department of Sanitation and QA standards.
- Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
- Work in an environment that includes continuous duties in refrigerated cutting rooms and storage areas (relatively high humidity) with occasional duties in frozen food storage boxes maintained at temperatures as low as 20 degrees (Fahrenheit) below zero.
- Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and price marking, arranging, and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation and protection.
- Handle damaged and spoiled products according to Company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
- Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance regularly; report any failure immediately.
- Unload trucks and transport merchandise to Meat Department that weights 35 lbs. and that occasionally weights 80-90 lbs.
- Regularly lift, pull, push and rotate merchandise that weights 35 lbs. and that occasionally weights 80-90 lbs.
- Understand and adhere to all Country of Origin Label (C.O.O.L.) regulations for all products in the Meat Department.
- Understand and adhere to Company shrink guidelines as relates to Meat Department operations.
- Utilize and maintain equipment as required by department; report any equipment problems immediately.
- Complete all applicable department training programs.
- Checks products received against invoices.
- Check prices and be knowledgeable about location of items in the store.
- Promote for sale any current charitable promotions to Customers.
- Stand at work station for duration of scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours per day.
- Cut and trim meat according to Company specifications.
- Rotates products in meat cases.
- Removes outdated or damaged product from meat cases.
- Fills in meat cases when required.
- Removes trash to designated area.
- Push/pull 4-wheel equipment loaded with product.
- Unload trucks.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Local, State and Federal regulations pertaining to the Meat operation.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Company rules, policies, safety requirements, and security standard and all Local, State and Federal health and civil code regulations.
- Dress and groom according to Company policy including uniform, name badge and hat or hair restraint requirements.
- Perform duties in accordance with QA handwashing standards and use disposable gloves when handling food.
- Complete all applicable department training programs.
- Perform all duties in accordance with all ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Work overtime as assigned.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.

Job Responsibilities
- Cut meat to be sold to customers by taking the product out of the cooler and cutting meat into smaller sizes to be packaged for sale.
- Service guests by answering questions and/or filling special orders.
- Rotate and check code dates on products to ensure customers safety.
- Wrap and maintain meat case.

The Asssitant Beef Shoppe Manager/Meat Cutter will gain the skills, knowledge, and expertise to be considered a successful Beef Shoppe Manager. To supervise and ensure that Lowes Foods guest service, merchandising programs, and departmental operations are maintained in the beef shoppe/seafood department to achieve maximum sales. Assume the duties of the Department Manager in their absence.
Meat cutting experience is required.

Responsibilities:1. Ensures all guests receive polite, friendly greetings and interactions from the Beef Shoppe staff. Creates a selling environment through the use of selling skills.
2. Achieves budgeted sales, supply/wrap, shrink, and gross profits for the Beef Shoppe and seafood departments.
3. Prepare products for sale (meat cutting, slicing, trimming, wrapping, weighing, and pricing) according to Lowes Foods Standards.
4. Maintains the desired level of inventory and supplies for the Beef Shoppe and seafood departments. Ensures in stock conditions through proper ordering.
5. Operates the department according to merchandising and operational programs and guidelines.
6. Maintains high quality and freshness with products available for sale. Ensures all products are in date.
7. Maintains safety and sanitation standards in all areas that come in contact with meat/seafood and in the prep areas, coolers, freezers, and sales floor.
8. Provides guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to the Beef Shoppe and seafood department staff to ensure Beef Shoppe hosts achieve satisfactory performance standards and guest interaction.
9. Performs product preparation, receiving, stocking, and guest service as necessary to achieve standards.
10. Maintains the department's labor budget and ensures that optimal hours are scheduled for the department to maximize sales and guest service.
11. Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

Job Summary: The Meat Department Supervisor is accountable to the Store Manager/ Assistant Store Manager and is responsible for directing, developing and managing the Meat Department and Perishable staff to protect company assets, maintain store conditions and presentation, maximizing sales customer and team member relations through proper controls such as sanitation, merchandising, payroll, required record keeping and compliance of Company, State and Federal policies, rules, procedures, regulations and laws.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Read, write and speak English
- Perform basic math skills: calculation of percent, addition, subtraction
- Understand and follow directions
- Must be able to bend, reach, stoop and lift moderate-weighted product
- Lift up to 35 pounds regularly and at times up to 75 lbs.
- Push/pull equipment loaded with product
- Work a flexible schedule consisting of daytime, evening and weekends
- Ability to work in temperatures of 40 degrees or lower
- Prior meat and/or supervisory experience preferred
- High school diploma required, some college preferred
- Ability to travel to nearby stores
Essential Job Functions:
- Order, receive and inventory department products.
- Organize, clean and maintain coolers, freezers and cases.
- Stock, merchandise and sign meat department to enhance sales, profits and presentation.
- Perform managerial duties such as supervising, training and developing of team members.
- Communicate to all levels of management.
- Achieve sales and shrink objectives.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Achieve company standards of clean, fresh and friendly.
- Proper use of store security systems and keys per company policies.
- Has a Company recognized Food Safety Certification and/ or can successfully complete training to receive and maintain a Company recognized Food Safety Certification
- Perform other duties as assigned
