Senior Associate (founder shadow)
🏢 Nucleus
Salary not disclosed
Alameda, CA 1 week ago

About Nucleus

Nucleus is a research-driven talent and intelligence platform for the next generation of investors, built at the intersection of data, experimentation, and community. We hire investors for some of the best firms in the world and are building the network, community, and intelligence layer around the people shaping the future of venture and company building.

The Role

This is a foundational hire working directly with the founder across research, community, events, client relationships, fellow experience, and search execution. One day you may be building cap tables. Another you may be running a mixer for 40 fellows or sitting in on a GP hiring conversation at a top firm.

The title is intentional. You will be in the room early, learning how the best firms operate and earning responsibility as you prove you can carry it. Over time you will own projects and workstreams. The starting point is proximity, pattern recognition, and high output across a wide surface area.

The founder focuses on strategy, vision, brand, community, and high-trust client relationships. Your role is to absorb the operational surface area so his time goes to the work only he can do. Nothing drops while he goes deep.

What the work looks like

  • Work side by side with the founder across research, community, content, events, and client delivery
  • Own the operational follow-through: prep materials, follow-ups, scheduling, and keeping workstreams moving between meetings
  • Conduct research on investors and firms. Build and maintain the Nucleus Brain so the founder can go deeper on priority engagements.
  • Collaborate on candidate shortlists and search materials for active client work
  • Help coordinate NEXT Fellowship programming, pod logistics, and fellow experience
  • Plan and execute community events: mixers, firesides, dinners, partner programming
  • Draft and edit external communications: emails, proposals, partnership materials, client decks • Contribute to content across Nucleus Intelligence, Substack, social, and the Rise podcast
  • Help shape brand and media presence
  • Pick up whatever needs to get done so nothing falls through the cracks

Who you are

  • 1 to 2 years in a high-intensity environment: investment banking, management consulting, executive search at a top firm, or an operating role at a venture-funded startup
  • Genuinely curious about venture capital, the people in it, and how the industry actually works
  • Technical bias. At the least, you are highly analytical by nature and can find information others can't and synthesize it clearly
  • Warm, high-energy, and natural with people. You make rooms better when you walk in.
  • Excellent writer with a tight, dense style
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and context-switching in a fast-moving, founder-led environment
  • Based in San Francisco or NYC. Remote will be considered. Must be in the US and be willing to travel.

Why this role

You will have a front-row seat to how the best venture firms operate, hire, and think about talent. You will build relationships with builders, investors, LPs, and emerging managers that most people spend years trying to access. And you will help build a company from the ground floor with real revenue, real clients, and a vision that extends well beyond search.

Promotions follow ownership and output, not tenure. We stay intentionally lean. Earn it, and the path to real ownership is short.

District Manager – Food Cart & Hospitality Operations
Salary not disclosed
Portland, Oregon 1 week ago

District Manager – Food Cart & Hospitality Operations

Location: Portland, OR

Reports to: Ownership

About Us

We operate a successful, high-traffic food cart pod and hospitality venue in Portland with strong brand recognition, loyal tenants, and an engaged customer base. We are currently a single location and are expanding to a second location in Q1 2026.

We're looking for a District Manager to take true ownership of operations — someone who treats the business like it's their own and wants to help build something that scales.

The Role

This is a hands-on, high-accountability leadership role for a proven operator who gets an exceptional amount done through organization, delegation, and follow-through.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day success of the business, leading staff, managing food cart tenants, overseeing facilities, hosting events, and maintaining high standards — while also preparing the operation to scale across multiple locations.

This role will initially oversee our flagship location and expand to full district responsibility as our second location opens in early 2026.

Who You Are

You are:

  • A high-output operator — execution-focused, reliable, and decisive
  • Extremely organized with strong systems and follow-through
  • Comfortable being the emergency contact and stepping in when needed
  • Personable and professional, with the ability to have direct, difficult conversations
  • Thick-skinned, calm under pressure, and solutions-oriented
  • Known for high integrity and excellent references
  • Proven in prior roles as a trusted leader in hospitality or multi-unit operations

You don't wait to be told what to do — you see problems, fix them, and move the business forward.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Facilities

  • Own daily operations of the food cart pod and shared spaces
  • Ensure cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and vendor performance
  • Anticipate issues and resolve them proactively
  • Manage scheduling, coverage, and emergency situations

People & Leadership

  • Hire, train, and lead on-site staff
  • Set expectations and hold teams accountable
  • Foster a positive, professional, high-standards culture
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for food cart tenants

Tenant & Community Management

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with food cart operators
  • Enforce rules, agreements, and standards consistently
  • Balance tenant success with the needs of the overall business

Events & Programming

  • Plan, execute, and maintain recurring events and initiatives
  • Oversee special events and community programming
  • Ensure events align with brand, experience, and financial goals

Financial & Performance Management

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and profitability goals
  • Track performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities
  • Help prepare systems and teams for multi-location expansion

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of senior management experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or multi-unit operations
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and managing complex environments
  • Experience with events, programming, or community-focused venues preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and delegation skills
  • A documented track record of reliability, integrity, and execution

Compensation & Benefits

  • Highly competitive compensation, commensurate with experience
  • Performance-based bonus structure
  • Opportunity for profit-sharing and/or equity participation for the right long-term fit
  • Paid vacation and time off
  • Supportive ownership and real autonomy in the role

Why This Role Is Different

This is not a placeholder management role. It's an opportunity to step into real ownership-level responsibility, help scale a growing hospitality brand, and participate in the upside as the business expands.

If you're a builder, a leader, and a high-integrity operator who wants to grow with a company — we want to hear from you.

If you'd like next, I can:

  • Tighten this into a short-form Indeed version
  • Create a recruiter screening checklist that filters out weak candidates
  • Draft a profit-sharing explanation for later-stage candidates
  • Build an interview scorecard aligned to this role

Just tell me what you want to tackle next.

Outside Sales Account Manager
Salary not disclosed
Dallas, TX 1 week ago

Company Description

World Resources is a Texas-based specialty distributor of window and door hardware, weatherstripping, sealants, and related components. We serve mid-size window manufacturers, door companies, and installers across the state who depend on us for product availability, technical expertise, and service they can rely on.

We are not a catalog company. We stock what our customers need, we ship when we say we will, and we answer the phone when they call. Our team knows the products and knows our customers' businesses — that combination is what keeps people coming back.

The Role

As Account Manager for the DFW market, you are the face of World Resources in the Metroplex and surrounding areas. You win new accounts, build relationships that last, and grow revenue from an existing book of business — all supported by an Account Coordinator who handles the operational layer so you can stay focused on selling.

This is a field-based role. You are not managing inbound leads or waiting for the phone to ring. You are out in your territory, meeting customers, learning their businesses, and identifying where World Resources can deliver value. When you win a new manufacturer or door company account, you hand it to your Account Coordinator and go win the next one. When you manage an installer relationship, you own it end-to-end — visiting regularly, cross-selling across product categories, and growing wallet share over time. You will be based out of our Carrollton location.

What You'll Do

Prospect, qualify, and close new accounts in DFW — window manufacturers, door companies, and installers. Build a healthy pipeline with at least 3x your monthly revenue target in active opportunities. Lead discovery meetings, generate quotes, and work deals through close. Deliver a flawless first order experience and execute a clean handoff to your Account Coordinator for manufacturer and door company accounts.

Own the ongoing relationship with installer accounts — regular visits, cross-selling, and wallet share expansion. Review purchasing data before every customer meeting so you walk in knowing what they buy, what they do not, and where the gaps are. Build documented account plans for top accounts and lead quarterly business reviews.

Plan your week with discipline — route efficiency, prospecting time, follow-ups, and pipeline updates. Spend 60–70% of your working hours on customer-facing activity. Log every call, visit, and commitment in Salesforce the same day. Work closely with your Account Coordinator and participate in weekly team meetings.

What We're Looking For

Required: 5+ years of B2B outside sales experience with a proven track record of closing new business. Comfortable conducting in-person discovery meetings with purchasing managers and business owners. Strong follow-up discipline — you do not let deals go cold and you log your activity. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly within the DFW market. Proficiency with CRM software.

Strongly preferred: Experience in building materials, window and doors, distribution, or a related industrial or construction supply business. Bilingual (English/Spanish) — a meaningful portion of our customer base prefers to conduct business in Spanish. Experience selling in a model where you win the account and transition ongoing management to an inside team.

The Honest Part

This is a field role. You will spend meaningful time in your truck, in warehouse lobbies, and in conversations that do not convert immediately. The people who thrive here are disciplined about their time, honest with customers, and genuinely curious about how window and door businesses work. We are also in the middle of building something. Our CRM is live, our data is organized, and the DFW pod is coming online now. If you want a role where everything is already figured out, this is probably not it. If you want to help shape how a growing company goes to market — and earn accordingly — this is worth a conversation.

What We Offer

Base salary of $45,000–$60,000 depending on experience. Target total compensation of $85,000–$105,000 at plan; $110,000–$140,000+ for top performers. Vehicle allowance or mileage reimbursement. Health benefits and other benefits. A structured onboarding program so you are set up to succeed from day one.
