Ares is currently searching for a highly motivated, diligent teammate to join as a full time Associate in our Ares Insurance Solutions (\"AIS\") Strategy Group. AIS is our dedicated, in-house team that seeks to provide asset management, origination, risk analytics, capital, and M&A services to insurance clients globally. The team currently manages ~$25Bn of AUM across a broadly diversified asset portfolio and is the investment manager, capital solutions provider and corporate development partner to Aspida, a leading U.S. life and annuity insurance and reinsurance company.

The AIS Strategy Group consists of investment professionals working directly with the heads of AIS and leaders across Ares to source, evaluate and implement upon our highest priority growth initiatives. Projects led by this group include management company acquisitions, minority investments, strategic partnerships, global expansion, and business development.

The group seeks to strategically deploy Ares, Aspida, and third-party capital in accretive opportunities that enhance our current capabilities and / or expand our product offerings. PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES


  • Review and analyze complex medical records to assess eligibility, appropriateness of services, and alignment with CHM medical guidelines.
  • Apply clinical judgment and established criteria to support consistent, evidence-based eligibility determinations.
  • Conduct medical literature reviews and research to support recommendations, alternative treatment considerations, and guideline application.
  • Collaborate with the Eligibility Review Supervisor, Medical Director, and Medical Review leadership to ensure alignment and consistency in medical review decisions.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with members and internal teams regarding medical review outcomes, addressing questions and concerns professionally.
  • De-escalate sensitive or emotionally charged interactions while maintaining CHM standards and values.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of medical review findings, rationale, and decisions within CHM systems.
  • Stay current on medical research, industry standards, and regulatory considerations relevant to medical review activities.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all handling of protected health information.

GENERAL SCOPE OF POSITION

  • Oversee and manage the delivery of assigned projects from physical commencement of construction through ultimate completion

Position Overview

The Preconstruction Manager leads estimating, budgeting, design coordination, value engineering, procurement strategy, and risk management for assigned projects. This role is responsible for delivering accurate budgets, competitive bids, clear cost models, and well-coordinated construction documents that support a seamless transition to operations.


The Preconstruction Manager plays a critical leadership role in guiding the project from concept through contract execution, working closely with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and the Level 3 project team.


Key Responsibilities


1. Leadership & Preconstruction Strategy

·        Leads the overall preconstruction process for assigned projects, including estimating, cost planning, design coordination, project phasing, and schedule development.

·        Establishes preconstruction deliverables, internal milestones, and client communication plans.

·        Provides strategic recommendations to support client decisions regarding cost, design, and schedule.


2. Design Coordination & Document Management

·        Works collaboratively with architects, engineers, and consultants to drive design development from concept through permit/bid-ready documents.

·        Reviews drawings for accuracy, completeness, constructability, code compliance, and alignment with owner requirements.

·        Identifies missing information, scope gaps, potential conflicts, and opportunities for improvement.

·        Facilitates design milestone meetings and interdisciplinary coordination.


3. Cost Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting

·        Prepares conceptual, schematic, DD, and CD-level budgets using historical data, benchmarking, and cost modeling.

·        Conducts detailed quantity take-offs, subcontractor solicitations, bid leveling, and complete estimate assemblies.

·        Evaluates alternative systems (structural, envelope, MEP, interior assemblies, finishes, etc.).

5. Schedule Development & Phasing

6. Procurement Strategy & Subcontractor Engagement

·        Creates bid packages, qualification requirements, and scope sheets.

·        Maintains accurate subcontractor databases and actively improves bid coverage.

·        Prequalifies subcontractors based on workload, safety record, financial strength, and past performance.


7. Risk Identification & Mitigation

·        Identifies long-lead materials and supply-chain vulnerabilities.


8. GMP Development & Contract Support

·        Prepares GMP proposals, including assumptions, clarifications, allowances, alternates, and exclusions.

·        Supports contract negotiation with clients, design teams, and subcontractors.


9. Client Interface & Relationship Management

·        Serves as primary client contact during the preconstruction phase.

·        Builds trust and long-term relationships with clients, developers, architects, and industry partners.

·        Represents Level 3 at industry events, presentations, and proposal interviews as needed.

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.

·        5+ years of relevant estimating or preconstruction experience.

·        Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and costs.

·        Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.

·        Proficient with estimating and construction software (ProEst, Bluebeam, Procore preferred).
