Position Highlights: NT4 Ortho-Urology Surgical Unit
  • Number of beds on unit: 41
  • Patient population (age, diagnosis, specifics about unit): NT4 is 41- bed unit specializing in the care of acute ortho and urology surgical patients. We are DNV certified for our hip and knee replacement surgeries. Surgical patients on this unit includes limb trauma patients, as well low acuity medical patients. With Carle being a level trauma center most regional trauma patients will be admitted to this unit.
  • Nurse to Patient ratio: 1:4-6
  • Department culture and resources: North Tower 4 is a fast paced throughput unit that highly collaborates with physical and occupational therapists. The average length of stay for most patients is a max of three days, so staff can experience the entire recovery process of the patient. We focus on being a team to provide the best and safest care to our community. Our patients appreciate the kind and positive reassurance they receive from our staff. Additionally resources for the unit include: a full-time educator, part-time educator, 2 nurse supervisors, a manager, and charge nurses.
  • Frequent nursing skills/equipment used: Wound Vacs, JP drains, Buck's tractions, external fixators, lift equipment, orthotic devices (boots, slings, walker, etc), chest tubes, Foley/IV/Mediport insertions, Central line care and lab draws, Nursing prioritization, IV pumps, PCA pumps, Feeding pumps, SCDs, Telemetry monitoring, Patient connection

Job Summary

The Director of Facilities & Maintenance oversees all agency facilities, maintenance operations, vendor management, and capital improvement projects across Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada (VOA-NCNN). This position ensures properties are safe, compliant, efficient, and aligned with the organization’s mission and regulatory requirements. The Director coordinates program requirements with other operational areas and has overall responsibility for the supervision, development and motivation of staff.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Oversight

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive facilities and maintenance strategy across all VOA-NCNN sites.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, CARF, and federal/state/local building codes.
  • Conduct agency-wide Property Condition Assessments (PCA) and Capital Needs Assessments (CNA) annually, prioritizing repairs and improvements.


Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee daily maintenance operations, preventive maintenance scheduling, and emergency response.
  • Manage all vendor relationships for maintenance, custodial, landscaping, security, and construction-related contracts.
  • Coordinate inspections, repair work, and facility modifications; ensure timely and high-quality completion.


Capital Planning & Budgeting

  • Collaborate with the CFO to prepare and manage capital budgets, maintenance reserves, and long-term replacement planning.
  • Provide cost estimates and ROI analyses for major projects.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repair expenditures align with budget allocations and funding restrictions.
  • Develop and maintain an annual (5 year) Deferred Maintenance Schedule


Team Leadership

  • Supervise maintenance staff and coordinate training, work order prioritization, and performance reviews.
  • Maintain working relationships with program leadership.
  • Foster a service-oriented culture emphasizes safety, accountability, and responsiveness.



Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain facility documentation, inspection reports, and warranty records.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all PCA/CNA assessments, service tickets, and contractor reports.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance requirements for all programs and properties.


Technology & Reporting

  • Utilize the Microsoft Teams Service Desk system for tracking maintenance tickets.
  • Develop KPI reports (response times, completion rates, capital forecasting) for leadership review.
  • Weekly status update to CFO and COO to maintain transparency of objectives, challenges, and deliverables during the week.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

EQUIVALENT EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 5–10 years of experience managing multi-site facilities or maintenance operations, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in property condition and capital needs assessments.
  • Familiarity with property management software, Microsoft 365, and project management tools.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Requires CPR and first aid training within ninety (90) days of employment, re-certification as necessary.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and the ability to meet the organization’s insurance carrier guidelines are required.


SALARY RANGE: $120,000 -130,000


NATURE OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED:


Daily activities are performed independently with guidance and direction from the Chief Financial Officer. Must be able to work independently toward attainment of operational goals and contract compliance.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Plans, directs and coordinates work. Responsible for training, auditing, conducting performance appraisals and providing feedback and disciplinary actions. Salary recommendations, hiring, and terminations are subject to review by Human Resources and ultimately, CFO & CEO.

Job Description


As the Greenhouse Supervisor, you will lead a dedicated team in the development of new vegetable crops. You will manage the daily workflow and crop schedules for greenhouses, hoophouses, and cages. Key responsibilities include:

  • Team Leadership and Coordination: Managing daily activities, hosting planning meetings, working with HR on development plans and safety procedures, and communicating with internal and external partners/stakeholders to ensure business success.
  • Trial Management and Collaboration: Collaborating with Breeders and Product Development teams to establish and evaluate trials across Yuma, Santa Maria, Salinas, and Gilroy. This includes coordinating research activities with external partners and sister companies within the Limagrain breeding programs.
  • Technical Operations: Leading plant maintenance, including the optimization of irrigation, nutrient inputs, and greenhouse environmental controls. You will oversee the precision of the growing environment and manage all seed harvesting activities, including cross-pollinations, single-plant selections, and bulk seed increases.
  • Facility and Admin Oversight: Managing chemical applications (QAL/PCA), executing crop-specific IPM, and performing routine repairs on greenhouse systems and equipment. You will lead preventative maintenance oversight and maintain detailed records for all equipment, servicing, and repairs. This includes coordinating with and contacting external vendors when specialized servicing is required. You will also support Office Administration with essential record keeping for inventory, compliance, and budget management.


Qualifications


  • Experience: Minimum 4 years in greenhouse operations and 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Education: Associate degree in Agriculture (Required); Bachelor degree (Preferred)Licenses: Qualified Pesticide Applicator License (QAL) or Agricultural Pest Control Advisor (PCA) license. Clean driving record.
  • Technical: Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite; ability to use a full-face respirator.
  • Soft Skills: Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus; strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • Working environment: You will work in a mix of office settings, greenhouses, and open fields. Exposure to outdoor temperatures (30°F to 110°F), dust, allergens, and agricultural chemicals is expected.
