The working lead will spend much of the time performing manufacturing tasks such as calibration, welding, machining, furnace operators demonstrating a high level of proficiency on multiple programs and/or disciplines of moderate to complex difficulty and is considered a subject matter expert (level III) in primary discipline. Operates as a main point of contact for OJT training and auditing process as well as mentors new and current employees. Collaborates with support staff to achieve On Time Delivery, Inventory, Cost of Poor Quality, efficiency, and company goals. The working lead may also support team coordinators by assisting with managing workflow and solving day to day production issues.

External candidates will receive a $1,000 sign on bonus.

What You Will Do

• Learn how to set up and operate precision manual and/or computerized machining centers according to standard work.

• Learn how to adjust machine feed/spindle speeds and the changing of tooling and cutters per machining.

• Learn how to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

• Understand and follow quality testing techniques. Learn how to inspect product using precision gauges, measuring instruments and equipment.

• Demonstrate proficiency in Manufacturing Documentation and Labor Transactions.

• Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.

• Actively participates in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities.

• Working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business

• Some Holiday hours may be required based on business need

• The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 3:30pm – 12:00am . Training however will be the first 2-3 months Monday through Friday, 7am - 3:30pm.

This role is responsible for supervising and leading a machining and welding team, ensuring safety, cost, schedule, and quality goals are realized for an assigned area/product line/work cell. The salary range for this position is $66,049.00/year- $85,864.00 for the state of Illinois. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. • High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED).
• Two years recent experience within the last 4 years operating CNC and conventional machines.
• Works from verbal and written operation instructions such as, work orders, CNC data sheets, and blueprints.
• Ability to use inspection equipment, such as micrometers, dial calipers, thread gauges, plug gauges, and air gauges.
• Performs necessary machine and tooling offset changes to maintain setup.
• Evaluates tool wear and changes tools such as mills, inserts, drills, and reamers.
• Must be able to make minor edits to the CNC program such as tool stations and spindle direction.
• Must be able to work any designated shift to include overnight.
• Must pass practical test within 90 days of hiring into this position.
• The ability to obtain and maintain an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.

Educational Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field is strongly preferred.
• Candidates with a master’s degree and exceptional research or industry experience will also be considered.

Industry Experience:

• 3–5 years of experience in AI/ML research roles, ideally in applied or product-focused environments.
• Demonstrated success in delivering research-driven solutions that have been deployed in production.
• Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams across research, engineering, and product.
• Publications in top-tier AI/ML conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, CVPR) are a plus.

Technical Skills:

• Strong foundational knowledge in machine learning and deep learning algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with PEFT/LoRA, adapters, fine-tuning techniques, and RLHF/RLAIF (e.g., PPO, DPO, GRPO).

Candidates must have hands-on shop experience operating CNC mills and be comfortable using precision inspection tools to verify part accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate CNC milling machines to produce parts according to specifications
