- Draft legal memoranda, position statements, legal opinions, board policies, discovery and other essential documents supporting district operations and governance.
- Attend Board of Education meetings.
- Attend Administrative trials/labor arbitrations
Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic
- Good organizational and case management skills
- Effective oral advocacy and communication abilities
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills
- Experience representing New Jersey public school districts and public sector employment/labor law knowledge, strongly preferred
- Member in good standing of the New Jersey Bar

The expected annualized salary range for this position is $130,000.00 to $175,000.00. Actual compensation will be based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
β’ Perform a variety of difficult and complex legal work and operate with substantial
discretion and minimal direction or supervision.
β’ Research and analyze the law on complex issues including employment related concerns.
β’ Synthesize legal research and analysis into a coherent written memorandum or brief for
submission to a client, court or arbitrator
β’ Appear in a court of law, arbitration or other judicial tribunal on behalf of the Firm's
client, and present well-reasoned arguments to the judicial body.
β’ Analyze and summarize complicated legal documents, including contracts, and
suggesting alterations to those documents.
β’ Perform discovery of various electronically stored data and hard copies of information in
preparation for litigation.
β’ Attend meetings with clients and/or opposing counsel/advocate as necessary.
β’ Negotiate with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes, including
settlement conferences.
β’ Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the law firm or for a client, and
develop strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk.
β’ Perform due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts and agreements
β’ Find ethical solutions to legal matters.
β’ Build relationships with clients based on trust.
β’ Commitment to abiding by local, state, and federal laws and behaving ethically.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
β’ Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
β’ Admission to the bar in the state in which you intend to practice.
