The Role

The Civil Engineer is responsible for site analysis, planning, and design for commercial, institutional, and retail developments. This role is hands-on and highly collaborative, involving work across multiple offices and projects throughout the country.

You’ll engage directly with clients, consultants, and municipalities throughout the full project lifecycle—from early concept and design through permitting, construction, and closeout.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external clients on project requirements, concept development, and design presentations
  • Perform site analysis, research jurisdictional requirements, and navigate municipal, state, and federal regulations
  • Prepare site layouts, grading plans, erosion control, stormwater management, and utility designs
  • Conduct site visits and field measurements to validate existing and as-built conditions
  • Coordinate with municipal officials, regulatory agencies, and authorities throughout the permitting process
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants on drainage, traffic, utilities, survey, and land-use considerations

Overview

As a member of the RubinBrown's Real Estate Tax Team, the successful candidate will work directly with the tax staff accountants, other managers and partners of the firm's Real Estate Services Group. The successful candidate will use his or her foundation in pass-through accounting and taxation, along with specialized skills related to tax compliance and consulting regulations. The Real Estate Tax Team has a specific focus on issues related to tax credit and tax incentive properties, including low-income housing, historic rehabilitation, New Markets and Renewable Energy credits as well as Opportunity Zones.

Tax Partners and Managers must provide outstanding consulting, compliance and project management services to our real estate clients. Tax Partners and Managers must be aware of the professionalism necessary for not only effectively and efficiently addressing client needs but also with working with others and on teams.

Major Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, review and complete real estate tax work/tax returns for multiple clients in accordance with RubinBrown Client Service Standards
  • Utilize his or her extensive foundation of knowledge related to pass-through taxation and regulations and, as applicable, tax credit real estate properties including tax compliance and consulting
  • Participate in and/or create practice development opportunities
  • Identify process and performance improvement opportunities
  • Assume responsibilities for project management of various client groups, including regular communication with clients and contacts related to tax compliance and consulting
  • Drive workflow with clients and team members
  • Research current tax compliance and consulting issues
  • Work closely with and directly communicate with other real estate team members, in addition to client personnel

Basic Job Functions: Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Maintain and develop business relationships with a defined supplier list.

Finding new strategic sourcing opportunities for both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap.

Proactively solving problems with suppliers on quality, transportation, safety concerns, etc.

Coordinating support functions across production, shipping and inspection.

Ensuring source control and accurate recoveries.

Requires interaction with key control positions (scale/kiosk) at scrap processing facilities.

Requires travel and face to face interaction with all suppliers and customers to develop and foster strong partnerships.

Financial aptitude to submit accurate purchasing forecasts and evaluate the facility’s financial performance.

Ability to handle large supplier accounts with multiple shipping lanes.

Able to execute purchase contracts and ensure shipments using multiple logistics provider i.e.; Truck/Rail/Barge.

Able to maintain relationships with transportation companies and negotiate freight rates on a regular basis.

Coordinating with Production teams; Buy plans/ delivery and shipping schedules while ensuring quality standards.

Ability to assist in the training and development of commercial peer group.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.

2 years experience in procurement or trading of ferrous/nonferrous metals.

Experience negotiating rates with commercial carriers.
