Overview

As a member of the RubinBrown's Real Estate Tax Team, the successful candidate will work directly with the tax staff accountants, other managers and partners of the firm's Real Estate Services Group. The successful candidate will use his or her foundation in pass-through accounting and taxation, along with specialized skills related to tax compliance and consulting regulations. The Real Estate Tax Team has a specific focus on issues related to tax credit and tax incentive properties, including low-income housing, historic rehabilitation, New Markets and Renewable Energy credits as well as Opportunity Zones.
A background in all or any of these topics is welcomed but not required. Tax Partners and Managers must provide outstanding consulting, compliance and project management services to our real estate clients. Tax Partners and Managers must be aware of the professionalism necessary for not only effectively and efficiently addressing client needs but also with working with others and on teams.
Major Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, review and complete real estate tax work/tax returns for multiple clients in accordance with RubinBrown Client Service Standards
- Utilize his or her extensive foundation of knowledge related to pass-through taxation and regulations and, as applicable, tax credit real estate properties including tax compliance and consulting
- Participate in and/or create practice development opportunities
- Identify process and performance improvement opportunities
- Assume responsibilities for project management of various client groups, including regular communication with clients and contacts related to tax compliance and consulting
- Drive workflow with clients and team members
- Research current tax compliance and consulting issues
- Work closely with and directly communicate with other real estate team members, in addition to client personnel
Preferred Experience/Background/Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related degree and CPA or other related certification (required)
- Strong technical skills including the ability to effectively utilize technology and the commitment to learning in the technology environment
- A minimum of 5 years of pass-through taxation and compliance experience, including supervision and review experience. Prior experience with pass-through entity tax credits is preferred but not required

Role Purpose

Summary
Talley LLP is seeking a detail-oriented Billing & Collections Administrative Support professional to strengthen our billing team and ensure accurate, timely invoicing in a professional-services environment. You will prepare invoices for consulting, advisory, and tax engagements, liaise with clients regarding billing matters, and support collections efforts.
This is a full-time onsite position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with additional hours required during month-end billing close.
What You Will Do
Billing (Primary Focus)
- Independently prepare, review, and issue invoices for professional-services engagements (consulting, tax, and advisory) using Practice CS after in-house training.

Hodgson Russ LLP, a regional law firm with two hundred plus attorneys in nine offices, is seeking a Accounting Systems & Applications Analyst to join our busy accounting team. This is a hybrid role. Some on-site work is required in Buffalo and/or Rochester. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the Accounting Department’s information systems, including upgrade management, data maintenance and user support, implementation of new modules and features, and managing integrations with third party applications. This position is project management-oriented and includes the following key responsibilities:
- Ownership of Elite 3E accounting software; expense management, collections management, and other accounting applications; overseeing design, system set ups, user accounts and permissions, customization, architecture, and nomenclature of each application.
- Liaison between Accounting and IT.
- Provide accounting software support as point-of-contact for problem-solving and/or escalating internally to IT or to vendor support channels as needed.
- Contributing to the design of financial reports using PowerBI, SSRS, and AFS (Xcelerate).
- Driving data consistency and integrity through record maintenance across all Accounting applications.
To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication and project management skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, identify and anticipate needs, and deliver highly accurate and reliable results. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and significant practical experience with enterprise accounting applications are required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology & Management, Finance, or Accounting is preferred, with eight years’ full-time experience in an accounting and/or information technology role preferably working within the business services sector.

At this time, the good faith estimate of the annual salary range for this position, if the successful applicant is based in Buffalo or Rochester is $87,043 to $107,130. Where a successful applicant is slotted within this range will vary based on legitimate criteria, such as experience and skill level.
